The Note Below is Written By Lauren Kutterfly:

So, did any one see what I tagged for this book? Action. I know someone is gonna bag me about that so here's your answer,"YOUR 'ACTION' IS COMING UP. GIMME SOME TIME TO WRITE THE FREAKING CHAPTERS." Done.

And remember how it's tagged 'Romance' as well? Yeah, coming up too. Just you wait.

And also, in the last chapter, I'm pretty sure I did a horrible job on trying to make a fluffy moment with Caitlyn and Levi. So many people ship LeLyn that I went ahead and added an extra plot to my original plot. Don't worry though. You'll still end up crying. Later everyone!

And I'm finally on Chapter 40. Someone clap for me? *silence*

Chapter 40

Breakfast was maybe the best thing that happened to me. Levi took us all to this amazing restaurant. Apparently, it was the place where he first took my mom on a date to which I found extremely cute and adorable.

When my mom saw the place, she turned beet red and tried to hide her face behind her hands, but Levi didn't let her. He dragged her out of the carriage to the restaurant. Me and Demy followed behind them, giggling.

After eating, we headed back to the Survey Corps Headquarters just as the Smith family were coming back as well.

When Noah stepped out his carriage and saw me, he immediately broke off into a wide grin and waved at me.

I excused myself from my parents and ran over to him.

"Hi, Noah!" I greeted when I reached him. Noah's grin widened.

"You won't believe what happened!" he began.

"Yeah?" I said with a smile. I knew exactly what happened.

"My father was actually kind to me and my mom for the first time ever! He took us to this cool restaurant next to a park. The park was really beautiful! You could see all of the flowers in the world there! I can't believe that just happened to me!" Noah said in a quick manner. I just smiled.

"That's great!" I told him. "I'm really happy for you."

Noah smiled and gave me a sudden hug. At first I was shocked, but I recovered and hugged him back.

"Thank you Karen," he whispered into my hair. "For everything that you did for me."

I smiled.

"Your welcome," I said.

We pulled back and Noah gave me one last smile before turning around and jogging back to where his parents were waiting at.

I watched him go.

"Well, someone sure seems happy," I said and grinned.

Night came quickly.

I slipped out my room and tiptoed down the hallways like I did so many times. But this time I wasn't going to go train. I'm doing something else, something that I haven't done in a long time.

Star gazing.

I gently pushed open the door to the garden and slipped outside.

The fresh air around me filled me with happiness.

I walked through the garden until I reached a bench placed next to a blue rose bush.

I sat down and looked up into the sky.

The stars above twinkled and glinted with light. I smiled.

Me and my mom used to star gaze back in the real world. My mom will point out constellations and I'll name them. It was a game that we used to play.

As I sat there staring up at the sky, something rustled from beside me.

I immediately stood up and looked around for the source. Demy emerged and began to bow and apologize.

"I'm so sorry for scaring you, Mil- I mean, Karen!" she bowed again. "I couldn't find you in your room and went to look for you. I'm so sorry!"

I laughed and took her hands. She looked up in shock.

"Hey, it's no big deal," I assured her. "I'm just out here to take a breathe. Wanna join me?"

Demy's eyes lit up and she nodded vigorously.

"Yes!" she said.

I smiled and pointed at the bench. We sat down side by side and gazed together up into the sky. The stars seemed to shine even brighter, if that's possible.

"So, you already know everything about me," I said slowly and looked at Demy. "What about you? I barely know a thing about you except for the fact that you're an assassin."

Demy looked down into a lap.

"There's nothing interesting about me," she said. "I never knew my parents because they were murdered right after I was born. I lived by myself, fending and fighting each and every day to see tomrrow. It was nightmare after nightmare. One day, I got caught by the Military Police and was about to be beaten to death when Mistress Caitlyn found me. She saved me and took me in as a maid to work int he Ackerman Household. Since then, I've trained in secret to become an assassin to protect the Ackerman Family. Only Mistress Cailtyn and Master Levi know of this."

I smiled at her.

"Well, I'm glad that my mom found you," I said, grinning, and leaned back, tilting my head to look up into the sky once more. "You're an amazing friend to me."

After a moment of silence, Demy cleared her throat softly and asked,"Um, if you don't mind me asking, what were you doing out here before I came?"

"Looking at the stars," I answered. Demy cocked her head to the side.

"Looking at the stars?" she repeated my words. I nodded.

"The stars are my friends," I explained. "Back in the real world, I never had a real friend before. Only the stars above would keep me company."

"Wow," Demy said, mystified. "That's so cool... The stars are your friends?"

I smiled and leaned back, tilting my head up to see the sky.

"Yup," I said. "They're the only ones that I can talk freely to."

Demy looked up, the stars' light bouncing off her eyes.

"I want the stars to be my friends too," she whispered softly.

I smiled and looked back down, taking her hands in mine like before.

"I'm sure they'll be your friends just like they are mine," I promised her. I faced the sky and lifted up a finger to point at the stars.

"You just need to say hello to them and they'll always be with you," I said.

Demy looked up with me, a small smile playing at her lips.

"Friends..." she whispered. "Friends that'll always be with me..."

I grinned.

"Yup!" I patted her head and stood up.

"Come on," I said. "It's already getting pretty late. Let's head to bed."

Demy nodded and stood up as well. Together we headed back into the dorms, the stars still twinkling and shining above behind us.
