Chapter 39

Me, Noah, Katrina, and my mom sat together at a wooden table, eating our breakfast(but I already ate) when Erwin swung open the door and strode over to us. The cafeteria fell silent.

Immediately, Katrina tensed and the color drained from her face. Noah stood up, ready to defend his mother.

Erwin held up his hand and brought it to Katrina's face. Katrina scrunched up her eyes and waited for him to slap her. But it never happened.

Instead, Erwin gently lifted up her chin. Katrina looked shocked.

"Hey, you want to go outside to eat?" Erwin asked her and gave her a warm smile. Katrina was in too much shock. Everything as happening too fast for her. Her eyes darted over to my mom, asking for help, but my mom just have her an encouraging and assuring smile.

"So...?" Erwin asked again. Noah was frozen in his spot. I don't blame him. I doubt he ever had a caring Dad before.

Seeing that she had a question to answer, Katrina gulped and answered,"O-Of course. Anything you want, dear."

Erwin beamed. He turned to face his son.

"Do you want to join us, Noah?" he asked. Noah quickly snapped out of his daze.

"Y-Yeah," he stuttered. I felt uneasiness and insecurity ripple off his body. He still didn't trust Erwin. He still believes that Erwin'll hurt his mother.

"Great! Come on, let's go," Erwin draped an arm over Katrina's shoulders and guide her towards the door. Noah followed close behind.

My mom was grinning widely at the little family.

Katrina looked over her shoulder and saw my mom's smile. She got the message.

Sending my mom one last small appreciated smile, Erwin whizzed her and Noah out the room. The room buzzed up in talking and laughing again.

"Well, the Smith family looks pretty happy," my mom noted.

"Yup," I agreed. "Erwin is caring towards his own family for once."

My mom laughed.

"I wished your dad would do that," she smiled at her imagination.

"And that's what he's about to do," a cold voice said from behind us. I jumped and whipped my head around to see Levi standing behind us with his arms crossed.

"Huh?" my mom asked, confused.

Levi sighed, irritated.

"What I mean is that I'll take you two out for breakfast," he said impatiently. "So, yes or no?"

My mom beamed and flung herself onto Levi.

"Duh, yes!" she squealed. The cafeteria fell silent again.

I made a mental note to myself: Make a 'volume' button for my mom.

Levi turned to face me.

"And you?" he addressed me. I stood up.

"Sure," I smiled at him. I saw a small smile play at the corners of Levi's lips.

"Let's go," Levi said and walked out the room with his hand on my mom's waist. I followed close behind.

We went outside to see a carriage outside already waiting for us. Demy was standing by the door with a smile.

"Good morning Young Mistress, Mistress Caitlyn, and Master Levi!" she chirped happily. I could see that her nervousness had faded away. Demy was smiling and talking freely now. I smiled.

Demy helped us get inside. When we were seated comfortably, she turned to go, but Levi called her back.

"Why don't you come along with us?" he asked her.

Demy's eyes widened.

"Y-You'll do that for me, sir...?" she said, shocked. My mom smiled.

"Why not, sweetie?" my mom said. "We're a family right?"

At the word 'family', Demy's eyes teared up a little.

"Yeah," Demy agreed. "Thank you."

I extended out my hand and Demy grasped onto it. I pulled her into the carriage and she situated herself by me.

Caitlyn grinned and closed the door.

"Let's go!" she chirped and the carriage man snapped the reigns. The horses neighed once before carriage took off.

I felt like everything was perfect in that moment. Two families with a distance between each member is coming together as one.

So hey there readers! I lied! I NEVER FELT THE PAIN OF WRITER'S BLOCK BEFORE. My mind is so full of ideas and imagination that almost anything can happen to me. ADHD man. Gotta live with it.

So, can someone tell me just how painful Writer's Block is? Cuz, according to scientific notes, WRITER'S BLOCK DOES NOT EXIST.

Read my book 'Spread My Hate' in order to understand why.
