Chapter 36

Sneaking through hallways that's vacant sounds easy, but it's not.

Every time I stepped on the wrong floor board, it makes an annoying creaking sound. Each time I did this, I start praying to Satan(Yeah... I have weird prayers... DAD!) that no one comes jumping from the shadows with a sword and tries to whack my head off.

I finally reached the doors to the training grounds. Pushing them open as softly as I could, I slipped out quietly and closed the does behind me.

Mission Get-Out-Of-The-HQ-Alive-And-In-One-Piece: Successful.

Mission Go-To-Noah-Without-Getting-Noticed: In Progress.

I tiptoed my way through the garden to where Noah stood waiting for me. As soon as he spotted me, his face broke off into a huge smile and he waved at me.

I quickened my pace and within seconds, I was in front of him.

"Hey there, Karen," he greeted with a grin.

"Hi," I replied back. "What are we doing now?"

Noah's grin widened.

"We're gonna test your powers," he announced. I stared at him.

"How... do we do that?" I asked him. "If you're talking about summoning a dark ball of energy, sorry then. I don't know how to do that."

Noah chuckled and shook his head.

"No, no, not like that," he said. "You'll see. Come with me."

He beckoned with his hand an started to head over to a huge tree that casted a long and wide shadow. I followed him.

We stopped directly under the tree... in its shadow. Noah turned around to face me.

"Alright. This should be a good spot," he said and slightly dusted off his hands of invisible dirt.

"Now watch," he commanded.

Noah extended out his hand just like he did this morning.

"Summon: Blade Of Wisdom!" he yelled. A bright glow emitted from Noah's palm. It grew bigger and brighter until it suddenly erupted.

When the light died down, in Noah's hand was the sword that I saw him hold when I first met him. My eyes widened at the sight.

"W-What?" I spluttered. "How did you.. do that?"

Noah smiled and tossed the sword around.

"Each and every Animato and Normato have their own unique weapon. Some might be swords like mine. Others can be daggers, bows and arrows, and spears. Each weapon is designed to fit the person wielding it. Mine is called the Blade of Wisdom. It's made especially for Light elemental wielders. It's one of the rarer swords."

I looked at the sword closely. It was a beautiful sword. The hilt was of two wings: One blue ad the other black just like the Wings of Freedom. The blade itself glowed brightly, radiating off light.

"So, what's my weapon?" I asked.

"That's what we're about to find out," Noah said. "Extend out your hand like you were summoning Niria earlier."

I put out my hand.

"Now close your eyes and concentrate. Words will start to appear in your mind. You'll know what I mean," Noah commanded.

I closed my eyes and inhaled, focusing on my hand.

Words... words...

At first, I saw nothing. But slowly, I heard someone whisper in the back of my head.

Blade of Sins...

My eyes snapped awake and, without thinking twice, I yelled,"Summon: Blade of Sins!"

The air around me grew cold. A circle of dark light appeared on in palm. It radiated off dark energy before the form of a sword started o take shape.

I stepped back and shielded my eyes.

Finally, the light died down, leaving a dark, obsidian blade floating in the air.

I lowered my arms and stepped cautiously to the sword. I held out my hand and grasped the sword, bringing it closer to me. I held it up to my eyes and examined it.

It was a really dark double edged looking sword with a red and white Ying and Yang sign embedded on the hilt. I flipped it over and saw words written on the back.

They read: Λεπίδα του Sins

For some reason, my mom forced me to take Greek in High School for one of my Foreign Languages, so I could basically translate the words easily. They read 'Blade of Sins'.

I whipped my head around to look at Noah, my eyes wide.

Noah looked just as shocked as me. He quickly recovered and shook his head in wonder.

"'Blade of Sins'?" he said in disbelief. "That's one of the lost swords in Animato and Normato history!"

"It... is...?" I said slowly and stared from my sword to him. This was getting weird. Who would name their sword 'Blade of Sins'?

Noah gulped and answered,"Yeah. There was a legend that stated the sword used to be just a normal sword. Nothing special about it. But then one day an Animato just so happened to come across it. He turned the blade evil and used it to murder people. After that, humans from both the anime world and the real world came together and made a plan to stop him. They decided to banish him to the Barrier, a thin piece of space that separates the Anime world from the Real world. His job is to keep the balance between both worlds. Before he became immortal and went to the Barrier though, he buried his sword in the Anime world. He didn't want anyone to take away his most prized possession. To this day, many people are still trying to uncover the sword."

I stared at the blade and saw my own reflection ripple on the surface.

"What was the guy's name and element?" I asked.

Noah sucked in a deep breath before answering,"He's called Gotherma and his element is... Dark."

"Dark..." I repeated. "Like me."

Noah nodded.

I stared at the sword a bit more.

"But... how can I be holding the sword right now?" I asked, confused, holding up the blade in from of me.

"I don't know..." Noah said while staring at the sword with me. "But this has to be a clue to the Prophecy. It has to hold some sort of meaning. I mean, a lost sword pops up needs to mean something, right?"

"Yeah," I agreed. "But what?"

We thought for a moment, but none of us could think up of anything reasonable.

Finally, we just decided to call it a night and discuss the issue tomorrow when we find time. Noah showed me how to put my sword back, by saying 'Close', and we walked out separate ways to our rooms.

I sighed and shuffled my way through the rose bushes to the door. As I walked, a dark shadow on the roof caught my eye. I stopped and looked up.

The figure sat squatting on the roof dressed in a dark cloak. I knew for starters that it wasn't Noah. But if it isn't Noah, who is it.

"Hey," I called out to the stranger. "Who are you?"

The figure jolted with surprise and realized that I was looking at them. I stood up quickly and ran along the roof tops.

"Hey!" I yelled, completely forgetting about staying quiet so that I don't wake anyone up. "Stop!"

But the black figure didn't stop. Instead, it ran faster.

I grunted and jumped. Amazingly, I jumped pretty high so that I landed on the roof with a soft thud. I wanted to pat myself on the back for being awesome, but I didn't have time. The figure was getting away.

"Stop!" I yelled again and pursued the person. From the looks of it, it was a girl.

The girl jumped off the roof and landed on the other side of the building. I gritted my teeth and jumped down after her. That's when I realized that we had ran to a dead end. I had her cornered.

"Summon: Blade of Sins!" I yelled and my sword appeared in my hands. I held it daringly in front of me and said with as much confidence as I could muster,"Who are you? I demand an answer right now!"

The figure tensed at my words and slowly backed up to the wall.

Her cloak shifted ad my eyes widened. Before I could do anything, she pulled out a dagger an hauled it at me.

I rolled out of the way and words that I've never heard before in my life started to cloud my head.

"Shadow Ball!" I yelled. A purple ball shot out of my hand and flew at the girl.

The girl lunged out of the way and rolled a few feet before stopping. By then, her hood had fell off her head.

Familiar brown hair tied in a high ponytail tumbled out.

My eyes widened.

"Demy?!"
