Chapter 33

Niria looked from me to Noah to Serena in surprise.

"What in the-" he began to say, but Noah cut him off.

"It can't be!" Noah gasped. "Karen, your element is Dark, one of the rarest elements for an Animato!"

"What?" I asked in confusion. "My element is Dark? What in the world is that supposed to mean?"

Noah swallowed hard before explaining,"The element Dark isn't a common one. Only once in a blue moon will someone get it. Light is the other rare element. I have Light. This... Thus can only mean one thing."

Noah drew in a deep breath and said,"The Prophecy of Time is beginning and you are part of it."

I stared at him.

"What Prophecy of Time?" I asked.

Noah closed his eyes as recited,"The Shadows of Night and Glimmers of Day must rise and reap. To stand or fall, the worlds must be preserved. A hero's last stand and the dawn's last wish with their final breath will be granted. Forever together among the stars, 2 lone protects must rule as one for eternity."

When he finished, he opened his eyes and looked down at the ground.

"That's it?" I asked in disbelief. "I understand nothing of that."

Noah looked up slightly and whispered,"Don't you see it yet? Shadows of Night means you and Glimmers of Day means me. We're supposed to do something to save both the anime and real world."

"I get that, but what does 'hero's last stand' and 'dawn's last wish before their final breath' mean? Does that stand for something too?" I pressed.

"That's what you guys need to find out about," Niria's voice said. I jumped. I almost forgot that he was there.

"Onee-San," Serena stated."Are you Karen's Guardian?"

Niria faced his sister with sad, mournful eyes.

"Yes," his answer was barely above a whisper. Serena looked down."

"Oh..." she whispered softly and went silent.

The quietness remained until Noah finally looked up and said with finality,"Let's meet up again at night in this place. We've got a lot to talk about such as what the Prophecy means. Sounds good everyone."

Though no one answered, we could all understand each other's mixed up emotions right now. We nodded out heads in response.

"Alright then. See you all again at 10 tonight," Noah said. "Let's go, Serena."

Serena closed her eyes and evaporated into tiny speckles of light. Noah turned around and walked off.

"I must go too," Niria said. "I shall se you again tonight."

He was about to vanish into the shadows again, but I grabbed his arm.

"Wait!" I cried out. "Why didn't you show me yourself sooner?! You knew about the Prophecy and knew that it was reflecting me right?!"

Niria stiffened at my words. Gently, he pulled his arm from my grasp.

"I... I can't tell you, Karen," he said softly. "But it was for your own good."

And with that, he melted away into the dark shadows around me.

I stared at the spot where he left.

Deciding that it was best to leave it at that, I turned around and walked away from the training grounds.

It just so happened that my route to my bedroom from the training grounds meant that I had to pass Te garden to get there.

On my way, I heard someone singing softly in the garden and stopped to listen. The singing continued.

I peeked over a bush and my eyes widened. It was my mom.

I don't ever recall my mom ever enjoying music. Sure she likes some Miley Cyrus songs, but never more than that.

I watched as she bent down to a bluejay who was singing along with her. She smiled and let the bird hop onto her finger, her voice never stopping.

Someone joined her singing and my mom stopped abruptly. She whipped her head around and saw my dad walk up to her and hug her from behind.

Her eyes widened a little but then relaxed. She sang along with him and smiled when the bird hopped on her shoulder.

My dad glared to the bird for taking all of my mom's attention, but my mom just giggled.

She turned around and hugged Levi back, all the while saying words that I couldn't hear. Whatever she said, it made Levi blush a little and hug her back.

From the distance, I heard three little words,"I love you."

Somewhere deep inside of me, the tiny little within began to turn bigger. I smiled an got down from the bush.

Even in a world where lies are hidden, at least there is still one more beauty left.
