Chapter 32
The next morning, I woke up and headed down to breakfast.
While walking down the hallway, a voice called for me to stop.
"Wait! Karen!" a voice yelled and thundering footsteps followed afterwards. I slightly turned my head and raised an eyebrow in question. I watched as Noah caught up to me.
"Is there something that I can help you with?" I asked him while he held up a hand to tell me he needed to catch his breath. After a while, he straightened up and looked at me, his cheeks a bit flushed from running.
"Remember how when we were in the forest you said you don't know what element you have?" he asked.
I nodded slowly.
"Yeah? So what?" I said, cautiously.
Noah drew in a deep before saying,"I can help you with that. I know of a way to figure out your element really quick."
I stared at him. "You do?" I asked, doubting his words. Noah nodded his head. I stared at him for a while before sighing and said,"Fine. When can we start?"
Noah's face brightened at my words and he announced,"We'll start after breakfast. I'll meet you at the training grounds close to the garden. It's the only place where we can have privacy without people suddenly coming in and seeing us."
I nodded and Noah extended out his hand. I grasped it and we shook hands.
"Deal," I said and let go. No ah smiled on last time before turning around and walking away. I watched as he turned a corner and disappeared around a corner. I hadn't noticed before, but my cheeks felt a little hot when he called my name.
No, I forced into my mind. Don't think that way. You can't let the past repeat itself again. Noah's just helping you with your element. That's all. Don't go thinking of him more than a mentor.
With that thought in mind, I continued down the hall to the cafeteria, my mind replaying my past with Cecilia again, except this time more vivid than last night when I told my dad what happened.
---------------------------------------------
Breakfast passed by quickly and in no time I was standing on the dirt of the training grounds waiting for Noah to show up.
Noah appeared after a minute from my arrival and our training began.
"Alright," Noah began, clapping his hand together. "To begin this training, I need you to call your Guardian first."
I stared at him, confused.
"What 'Guardian'?" I asked.
Noah stared at me, wide eyed.
"You don't know what a Guardian is?" he said, bewilded. I sighed in annoyance.
"No I don't," I huffed out. "Can we stop playing games and speaking riddles? I'm really confused here. Just get to the point already."
Noah sighed and said,"Fine then. I guess I'll need to show you mine so you can get what I mean."
He held out his right hand and yelled,"Serena! Show yourself!"
A gust of wind picked up as a tiny ball of light appeared in front of Noah. The ball of light grew bigger and bigger until it suddenly bursted into feathers like the Titans did. When al of the white feathers cleared away, a girl with flaming red hair appeared. She slowly opened her eyes and flaming red eyes appeared. I gasped and stared at her.
Noah lowered his arms and smiled as if seeing red haired girls magically appearing from feathers to him happens everyday... maybe it does.
"Meet Serena, my Guardian, Karen," Noah said proudly.
Serena looked around herself for a moment before her eyes landed on me. I gulped a little and for once in my life I had no clue what to do.
"Uh... hi...?" I squeaked. Serena gave me a once over before breaking into a huge smile.
"Hello!" she said happily. "My name is Serena and my Master is Noah Smith. It's a pleasure to meet you!"
"M-My pleasure too," I stumbled. This was too quick. I'm still confused.
I turned to face Noah and asked,"But how do I know who my Guardian is? I've never seen them before."
Noah thought for a moment for before saying slowly,"I believe that you're Guardian has shown them-self to you before. You just need to call for them."
"And how exactly am I supposed to call for them?" I demanded.
"Extend out you hand and say,'My Guardian! I, Karen Ackerman, command for you to show me yourself!'. That's how it worked with me and Serena." Serena nodded in agreement.
"Some Guardians follow there Masters wherever they go to protect and watch over them," she added. "I've been watching over Master Noah ever since he was born."
I stared at them both looking away and saying with a slight pink tainting my cheeks,"Okay. I'll give it a shot."
I held out my arm like Noah told me to and took a deep breath before yelling,"My Guardian! I, Karen Ackerman, command for you to show me yourself!"
The ground began to glow a darkish purple. I strong wind blew past me.
A black hole expanded in front of me as a person slowly raised up from it. I watched in utter shock as the person finally came out and stood towering before me.
At first I couldn't talk, but I didn't need to.
"Onii-San?!" Serena screamed.
"The Guardian of Dark?!" Noah gasped in disbelief.
By the time I found my voice, I was already consumed in shock. The dark black hair that was slightly rustled and the dark purple toga were all too familiar. How many times have I seen them before?
"Niria?!" I whispered, my eyes wide.
