Chapter 16
Hey readers!! First, I want to apologize for something. Remember how I put 'Disturbance Alert' on my last chapter? Never mind. I'm only filming the trailer so I'll have time to write the book. Please forgive me! As an apology, I've decided to air a new chapter today... ahead of time. Hope you enjoy it!
Dedicated to @_DerpieDemon_ for voting and commenting on my chapters!!! THANKX!! Your book, Chasing Ghost, was a great inspiration to me!!!! Dear Internet, Read her book!!! It is, like, five million times better than mine!!!

Chapter 16
You'll think that breakfast was incredibly quiet. Think again.
My mom and Hanji talked on and on about useless things that I saw as irrelevant. Erwin had papers spread out on the table as he tried to fill them out. The stack was about 3ft tall. I'm still not sure how he's coming out alive of that one. Levi looked annoyed like always. No change there.
I poked my food, occasionally eating a crumb of bread or two. I wasn't really hungry. I'm still brooding over what happened this morning.
Noticing my dark mood, Hanji called from across the table,"Hola, Karen! You okay? You look a bit blue!" I stared at that woman. One day, I'm seriously going to kill her. I'm at my limit with her craziness.
I sighed and replied,"I'm fine, Hanji-sensei. You don't need to worry about me." My mom, despite my assurance, was still concerned.
"You sure, honey?" she asked. I nodded. Seeing that I was totally okay, she resumed her conversation with Hanji about 'How Applying Lipstick to the Eyes Is Bad for Your Health'. Right. My mom and Hanji BOTH need the ER immediately.
Levi stood up with a clang of his chair. The talking around the room abruptly stopped.
Levi cleared his throat and announced,"I need to go train my Squad today before they go haywire and I need to save their sorry asses. Good day. And Karen, keep. Out. Of. Sight." He turned around and walked out the dining room. Just like that.
I felt all 3 pairs of eyes on me. I gulped and laughed nervously.
"Uh, I'll go to my bedroom now," I excused myself and got up.
"But you haven't finished your food yet!" my mom exclaimed.
"I'll be fine," I assure her and headed out the room.
I walked down the hallways, still not believing this huge mansion is my 'home'. As I was turning a corner that led to who-knows-where, I bumped into someone. I fell down with a thud as multiple blankets toppled over me.
"Ow," I grumbled and I rubbed my back.
"Oh my gods! I'm so sorry Milady!" someone above my squeaked. "Are you alright?!" I looked up and saw that it was only Demy. My face turned from agony to sudden happiness.
"Oh, hi Demy!" I said chirpedly and stood up, dusting my pants off. Yeah. I argued with my mom for 30 minutes just so that I can wear jeans. Good grief.
Demy bowed continuously as she mumbled 'I'm so sorry' over and over again. I helped her pick up all of the sheets that she dropped and folded it. I handed them to her and she thanked me.
I smiled. "You know," I began. "You don't need to always cal me 'Milady' or 'Young Mistress'. Just call me Karen."
Demy stared at me wide eyed as if she doesn't believe what I'm saying.
"B-but-," she began, but I cut her off.
"I don't see people here as butlers or maids. I see than as people I want t be friends with. So, I want you go be my friend." I took her hand in mine. She flinched, but slowly relaxed. "Please treat me as a person, not a higher stand than you."
She stared into my pale gray eyes as if wondering what to do and say. In the end, she ended up having tears flowing down her cheeks as she stuttered,"T-thank you, K-k-karen. T-This means a lot t-to me-e..." I smiled.
"Well, I'll see you later," I said as she rushed off to her work. I don't want to have Demy see me as a Mistress in whom she has to work for anymore. She is my friend. My best friend.

Let's just say that sitting on your bed, staring out the window, is incredibly boring. That's what I'm doing right now.
I watched as a bird sailed past my window and into the clouds above. I smiled slightly. I wanted to go above the clouds. I wanted to see what was beyond the world that I lived in. What's out there. What adventure is awaiting me.
I sighed and leaned back on the pillows piled up behind me. I gazed up at the ceiling as I listened to the silence in the room. The sound didn't sound right. It was TOO silent.
As I was thinking over this, my bedroom door slammed open and 5 men stepped in. Demy was in front of them, her mouth gagged and a gun was put to her neck.
A man dressed in a brown jacket with some sort of unicorn on the Sid of his jacket announced,"Karen Marien Ackerman. You are under arrest for your very existence. We advice you to come silently if you wish not to die."
