"The news reports should be going out right about now," Soojin told her as their van pulled up in the parking lot of Swing Entertainment, the one that the staff members used, one that was well hidden from the public. "Have you guys decided exactly what you're going to do yet?"
"Not yet," Eunbyeol admitted. "We're all torn. We like the idea of a series of music videos, but people have done that before. I think everyone is leaning towards the drama, but that's so much harder. It'll take a long time. We'll need to write it, first of all, and none of us are writers. Songwriters, we have. But screenplays? That's a whole different thing. But it would be so cool, and it's never been done before. Then the members can work on OSTs, and we can all act together, and we can even create the music videos for the OSTs!" she exclaimed, getting more excited as she kept talking. "But since none of us are completely sure yet, Seungwoo suggested that we take some time to get to know each other. He said that whatever we end up doing will probably come out better if we're friends."
"That sounds like a good idea," Soojin agreed. "Anyway... I'm sorry that none of us can come with you. Will you be alright on your own? I can talk to the CEO again-"
"I'll be fine," Eunbyeol insisted, laughing at her overprotective friend. "Mr.Cho is right, I think. It's good for us to work entirely on our own. I'll be fine," she said again, exiting the van and waving. "Bye!" she called, walking towards the doors and into the building. There was a woman at the front desk, and upon showing her ID and asking for directions, she was directed to the 3rd floor.
She wasn't sure what she expected to find when she exited the elevator and landed on the 3rd floor. But the sight took her breath away.
It was beautiful. Their dorms were amazing.
She'd heard that they made a lot of money. Of course, they did, being basically the most popular boy group in the world right now. They'd won countless rookie awards, had a record number of music show wins, won Billboards, and had even been the fastest group to be nominated for Grammys. Truly, they were unstoppable.
Still, she hadn't expected their dorms to be so beautiful. The place was huge. It seemed like they lived on the entire 3rd floor, so the place was basically like a house.
"Flies are going to go in your mouth," someone teased, and she spun around in surprise, finding Seungyoun standing beside her.
Eunbyeol slapped a hand over her mouth, taking a step backward and promptly tripping, which resulted in her falling to the floor. Seungyoun tried to catch her, but she fell too fast and he only managed to fall with her.
"You know, you're very different from what we see in dramas," he commented teasingly, standing up first and offering her his hand. She took it and allowed him to help her off the ground.
"Really?" she teased back, pretending to be shocked. "That's crazy."
Seungyoun laughed, the sound of his laughter making her laugh too. "I mean you seem so confident as a celebrity. But every time I've seen you, you seem much shyer and more flustered than I expect. It seems like you haven't changed a bit since you starred in our MV, except for the fact that your acting gets better and better."
"Have you watched my dramas?" she asked in surprise.
"Of course," he responded, starting to walk and lead the way through the dorms. "The younger members are particularly fond of them. We're always cheering you on," he said sincerely, leading her into the kitchen, where she found some of the other members sitting around a large table, probably getting ready to eat breakfast.
But as she took a seat in-between Yohan and Junho, she realized what was really going on.
From Dohyon's lost expression as he watched Seungwoo clean something up, she guessed that he'd tried to make something and failed. Wooseok and Eunsang were working together to make breakfast, and Seungyoun joined them.
"Dohyon thought it would be fun to treat us to breakfast," Junho explained, whispering to her.
She giggled, watching as he helped Seungwoo clean up. "I'll take it that it didn't go quite as planned?"
"Wow, how'd you figure that out?" Yohan joked. "Yeah, he burnt the pancakes," he said, a sad sigh escaping his lips as he mumbled, "I'm starving."
"Did you see the reaction to the news?" Junho asked, holding out his phone to show her and Yohan.
Eunbyeol recoiled as soon as she realized he was on Twitter, and her eyes fluttered closed on their own accord. "No thanks," she said softly. "I'm scared," she admitted, regretting the words as soon as they escaped her lips.
"Of what?" Yohan asked. "Haters?"
She nodded, and though her eyes were closed, she could see the comments. She could hear their voices. She wasn't pretty enough, skinny enough, curvy enough. Her face wasn't the right shape, her eyes weren't perfectly symmetrical, the small mole on her nose was ugly. Her acting was terrible, she was trying too hard, she only got where she was because of her pretty face. She'd heard and seen enough hate comments to last a lifetime.
At the beginning of her career, she'd spent a lot of time on social media. Seeing those comments had affected her mental health in terrible ways. Finally, Soojin stepped in and took her phone away, monitoring her activity until she improved. After that, she'd made a promise to herself that she would stay away from it. She wouldn't read comments. At first, she'd thought that the good comments would outweigh the bad, but even though her positive comments were so much greater in number... the negative ones still hurt. They hurt a lot.
"The response is generally really good," Junho assured her after a moment. "People seem to be intrigued. Everyone is wondering what we're going to do... though it seems like the general assumption is that we'll do a series of music videos."
"What are we going to do?"
Hearing Hyeongjun's voice, she opened her eyes again, to find him and Minhee walking together to the table.
"I say we go for the drama!" Dongpyo called out, running towards all of them. "Hi there," he said brightly, greeting her with a smile. "What do you think of filming a drama together?"
Eunbyeol played with the necklace she was wearing as she considered. "Honestly, I'm also leaning towards the drama. It's never been done before, so I think it'll be really cool. But it's also going to be a lot more work," she admitted, chewing on her bottom lip. "It'll be a lot harder."
"Let's not think on an empty stomach," Wooseok said, coming over to the table with a pan full of beautiful, not burnt, pancakes. Dohyon followed him, eying the pan enviously, and she had to stop herself from laughing. Hangyul arrived at that moment, his face lighting up as he saw everyone at the table.
The table was large, and everyone sat around it. Wooseok, Eunsang, and Seungyoun started setting the table as Seungwoo and Dohyon sat down.
"Before we eat, let's do a toast," Seungwoo announced, raising his glass of juice as everyone settled in. "To Eunbyeol, who made this all possible."
"To Eunbyeol!" The members chorused, and they all raised their classes, clicking them against each other.
She felt her cheeks redden, but couldn't stop the giant smile from coming to her face.
Already, they were feeling like family.
