Prologue
13 years ago there was a man who created a child in a lab. The child had purple hair and a glowing imprint shaped like a key on the left side of her neck. When the child was only five years of age, a disaster occurred. The dimension they had called home was set a flame, but only a few knew why.
The child from the lab had caused this fire. The whole dimension was in ashes and there was no way to save their home. The man's uncles helped the people of this dimension escape and the child's memories of the fire were erased and changed into something terrible, but not worse than the travesty she had caused.
The man with dragon like wings watched as his newly created daughter ran about in the flowery meadow just behind the mansion. The mansion was tall and beautifully painted. The inside seemed just like a maze of unending rooms. This mansion was the home of Council and Solstris. They had a son named Andrew, who also lived here with them. Their daughter, Serene, was the newest addition to the family. Council had created her only months before. She was nothing like the family for she was a different type of creature. She was a key.
Keys are known to be loyal and loving towards those who raise them. They have a specially designed imprint that is placed somewhere on their bodies. Most keys keep their imprint hidden from enemies. This imprint is what holds their very soul. It is also connected to their emotions and glows a specific color for each one. Red is anger, orange is confusion, yellow is happy, green is jealousy, blue is sad, purple is neutral, pink is love, white is fear, gold is healing and black is evil. However, you better hope you never come face to face with a key who's imprint has turned black.
Council smiled as his five year old daughter ran up to him. She loved to stroke his wings and run around in his lab coat. She was more attached to him than her mother. The little key reached up for her father to pick her up which he happily did so in return. He held the child close to his chest and hummed softly as she snuggled up in her father's arms. The child looked up at her father with her big blue eyes. He couldn't help but smile more as the child stared up at him.
Serene wasn't one for talking much. She would whisper into her parents ears every so often when she needed to ask for something. She enjoyed learning about the past of the keys and anything else her father would teach her. She was very gentle with anything she touched and never let her imprint change from purple or yellow. However, her and Andrew did not get along with one another. They would tend to agree and sometimes fight, but deep down they loved each other; they just wouldn't admit it.
"Did you have a nice play time, Serene?" the winged man asked as he gently stroked his young creations head. The key purred slightly before answering her father. "Yes, daddy." The child giggled. Council smiled before he carried the young key back inside the mansion.
They headed into the back door that led into the large and elegant kitchen. Solstris was preparing lunch for them, while Andrew sat at the table doing his homework. The two children were homeschooled by their parents. Solstris taught the children English and History, while Council taught them Math and Science. The two adults did not trust many people after the incident between Council and his brother, Darkment.
Council did not wish to be like his older brother, so he made his own key of portals. The child wasn't exactly what he had expected, but she was his own creation and nothing would ever change that. Solstris looked up from making lunch and smiled at her husband.
"You two were out there for quite a while," she stated. Council smiled and nodded. "Little Serene here was just having way too much fun and didn't want to come inside."
Serene looked over at her brother and smiled. She reached out to pull his tail that was poking out of his clothes. Andrew was a young dragon and hadn't quite yet mastered changing his form. Although dragons and keys have never really gotten along, Andrew loves his little sister, but he would never really admit it to her or his parents.
The young dragon raised his tail slightly so the little key could reach his red, scaly tail. The girl giggled and hugged his tail before tugging on it slightly. Andrew smirked playfully before tickling Serene with his tail. The key giggled and squirmed as she tried to escape the wriggling tail. Council and Solstris laughed at the two and watched as the dragon continued to tickle his little sister.
The family's life was a peaceful one. They never went outside their property and kept each other out of harms way. They lived happily in the mansion with the newest member of the family for a year until one fateful day. Disaster came to the Forgotten Dimension. A dark entity entered the young keys mark, for no one would suspect that a young girl would bring this dimension to its knees.
The entity was just as young as Serene, but it was demonic and wanted all to suffer. The entity's name was Flame. Flame was the entity of fire. She knew nothing of her past but she knew she was made for destruction. However, in order for her to burn everything she hated to the ground, she had to have a host. When she found Serene, she knew they would be a perfect match, so into the keys mark she went. She spread her fury throughout the keys body and the two soon became one. They would both fight for control and Serene usually won, but the minute something went wrong or someone hurt her, Flame would be released and Serene would lose all control she had over the entity.
