Chapter 1
It was a peaceful day in the Forgotten Dimension. The sky was clear, birds were singing, and children were enjoying the fresh air that day, except one little girl. No one wanted to play with her because she was different; because she was a key. Little Serene sat and watched the other children play together, but whenever she tried to go and join them they would just run away from her. Her father had finally let her leave the mansion to go make some real friends, but no one would even give her a chance.
Tears formed in the small key's eyes. She didn't want anyone to see that the other children made her cry so she ran off into the forest. It wasn't a scary forest, but is was fairly dark. Serene walked deeper into the forest until she thought she was far enough away from the other children. She approached a small lake and sat down on the ground beside it. The young key didn't understand what she could've possibly done wrong. She was only a few months old so no one really knew about her.
The people of the Forgotten Dimension feared all keys. There had been a war between the keys and dragons years back. The keys won, but lost a great leader to the dragon king. The two races still refuse to get along. Many claimed that it was the keys who started the war, but no one really knew the truth; at least not yet.
Serene was snapped out of her thoughts when she heard a twig snap behind her. She quickly jerked her head over her left shoulder to see what had made the noise.
No one.
There was no one the- SNAP!
Another twig snapped. Someone was watching her. The young key quickly stood up and glanced about her surroundings. She could see four dark figures about her exact height, maybe even a few inches taller, surrounding her.
"Who's there?" she asked calmly. She waited for one of them to reply. Out of no where she felt someone trace her key imprint on the left side of her neck from behind. "You are not human, are you?" a young male voice asked her.
"N-No, I am not." She stuttered slightly. No one else had ever touched her imprint other than her father.
"Then what are you?" the voice asked. Serene was scared to turn around and face the boy. She quickly made up her mind and turned around to face him. "I am a key." She replied.
The boy looked at her before cracking a smile. "One that opens doors?" He began laughing at his own joke. "I am not that kind of key! I am the key of portals." Serene quickly spoke.
The boy smiled at her. " My name's Tricky. I saw what those kids did to you earlier and that was not very nice of them. They should give you a chance."
"They aren't going to." The key sighed. A thought then came to her mind. "Do you want to be my friend?"
"You want to be my friend?" He asked the key curiously. She quickly nodded in reply. The boy smiled slightly at her. "Well alright then, we can be friends."
The two became very close friends. Tricky came to the point where he started to have a crush on Serene. Serene also had a small crush on him, which her parents thought it to be adorable. But something was coming. Something that would test their friendship.
