The Planet of the Golden Shadows Part 1

I stayed on Yona for a while, enjoying the hospitality of the Sunny Days Resort. Koni, Regna and I got along really well and we became good friends. They gave me a free life time pass to come back. I get to come back when ever I want.

Now however, I believe it is time for me to leave and move on to another planet. I have learned all I could from this planet. Regna and Koni came with me to the bus station to see me off. Regna ended up getting emotional and gave me a hug that could rival Tyson's.

Once I got on the bus, I saw the same bus driver as last time. He looked better than when I last saw him, his suit was new and neatly pressed and his hair was freshly cut. The bus looked cleaner too. Obviously he recognized me too because he brightened. "My lord!" He exclaimed. "I am glad you did not get stuck at the Winterland Resort, I did not get a chance to thank you for the money you gave me last time!"

"You are welcome, sir," I answered. "My name is Fire Lord by the way."

"And my name is Toll," he said, holding out his hand for a shake. When I did not reach out right away, uncertainty replaced his excited look. "I am sorry, was that not a greeting earthlings do?"

"No, it is," I said, quickly taking his hand. "It's just that I have been on Yona so long I have grown on your ways."

Toll smiled, something that made me slightly nervous. He looked too much like the Stolls when he did that. "Then let us see it, how do you greet people now, Fire Lord?"

I sighed in relief. This wasn't so hard. I made an 'L' with my right hand and twisted it above my heart. With my other hand, I held it right in front of me, open as if I was manipulating water and twisted it at the same time as me right hand. At the same time I did not at, I said, " Fire Lord, stars and fire greet thee."

Toll looked delighted and did the same only he said, "Toll, stars and traveler greet thee."

To each person, the greeting is different. You always say your name first and then say stars but the second part is something that has to do with you.

"Where to now, Fire Lord?" Toll asked, getting back in his seat.

I got in the nearest seat, which happened to be right behind Toll. What ever your next stop is, Toll," I answered pleasantly. "I don't need to be anywhere for now. I am just exploring."

Toll turned to look at me, his eyes wide. "Surely not there Fore Lord?" his shock leaked into his voice and it wavered. "Not the planet of the Golden Shadows?"

I raised an eyebrow. "The planet of the Golden Shadows?" I inquired.

"The deadliest planet I know," Toll whispered as he put the bus into gear.

I looked around, no one else was on the bus. "Is it like Tartarus?" I asked, referring to the pit I had fallen into.

"No," Toll said, shaking his head. "Worse."

As I waved good bye to Toll, something I'm sure he thought would be the last time he saw me do, I looked around the area I was in cautiously. The stories Toll told me were still running through my mind, making me nervous about being here. And only for my second planet. Third if you count Earth.

The first creature he said I would probably run into was the Golden Ninjas. I know, it sounds ridiculous and you probably think I would see them right away.  Well, you're wrong.

The entire landscape is golden. The station I was at was all made of yellow bricks. The road and the fences are yellow as well. The only other color was silver, black and grey. But there was more gold than any of those colors. Apollo would have a field day there. There was no one but me here at the station and the golden sky was starting to hurt my eyes. I started wishing I could see some other color besides gold. Golden fields stretched as far as the eye could see. The few trees scattered across the land were a deep gold, standing out from the never ending fields.

I was alone.

I shrugged. Why no one was at the station did not matter to me at that moment so I started walking. I went about two to three miles before I felt someone watching me. I ignored it for now and continued walking. Before I could continue very far however, I got punched in the stomach. It did not hurt but the force of it was enough for me to stumble back a pace to two.

I was immediately on the defensive. I looked around, trying to see who had punched me. 'Trying' being the operative word here. I saw no one. Except that did not make sense, I could feel eyes on me and the water in the air was disturbed. I focused on what the water was telling me and dodged a fist to my face just in time.

The Golden Ninja, as I assumed it was, did not expect me to dodge and fell over, face first. However, that was pointless as another fist came flying at my face. It connected with my jaw and my face jerked to the right.

"Holy, son of a motherless goat!" I exclaimed. Once I was distracted by the fist to the face, the second ninja- the one who actually hit something- quickly moved to put my arm down, in between my legs and my other one around the other way and tied my hands together there. Let me tell you, it hurt. I did not think the body could bend that way.

I fell back, making Golden Ninja #1 fall over again with an "Omph!"

I tried to look at the ninjas but they were too well camouflaged. They would appear then disappear, blending in really well with the golden landscape. I hated not being able to see my enemies. Then I got an idea. As I lit my hands on fire, burning the yellow fibers, I changed my outfit to match theirs.

The one I assumed was standing above me chuckled.

It speaks!

The next sound stunned me so much, I stopped breathing. "You are going to have to try harder than that to be able to beat us, young one," the voice sounded from my left.

"What do you want from me?" I demanded. They had to have some reason for attacking an innocent bystander.

"That is for us to know and you to find out," the other said from off to my right just as a golden bag slipped over my head, appearing out of no where. Great, so they don't even know.

The inside of the bag was black, so black, it was as if I was closing my eyes. The feeling was so strange, I closed my eyes and tried to feel out with what ever senses I had to figure out where the freaky ninjas were taking me.

Splashes of color filled my vision, even though my eyes were closed then flickered out. That almost made me stop the forced walk the ninjas were making me do. When it did not reappear, I mentally shook it off and continued as before.

Suddenly the burning sensation from the golden sun dissipated as the air grew progressively cooler. I assumed we went inside somewhere. Probably their base.

Toll said that those who were taken by the Golden Ninjas were never heard from again. I wasn't really worried about that. Toll hadn't seen my track record.

What I was worried about was the splashes of color that appeared again once the climate changed. I had no idea what it was.

It was driving me crazy.

Not only that, but it was incredibly quiet. Not even the ninja's feet made any noise. It was unnerving how the two Golden Ninjas could make so little noise. Although it should not have been so surprising...they are ninjas.

Once we were inside the new climate, they pushed me forward. This was unexpected so I tripped and landed flat on my face since they had tied my hands behind my back. The bag fell off of my face and I blinked at the sudden light. The color was forever present now, when ever I closed my eyes I would see flashes of color and that confused and disorientated me. I kept blinking even though my eyes had already gotten used to the light.

It was the same lighting as it was outside, only we were inside a cave of sorts. The ninjas still seemed invisible except now I could tell that there were more ninjas. A lot more. Yet everything was still silent. I could almost imagine the cricket noises starting any second now.

"Where am I?" I decided to go with the cliche question that always was asked in these sort of situations since there was not anything else to ask.

"Blaine, Nia, what were you thinking, bringing a creature such as this in here?" A voice in front of me said. It sounded weird, I could not see the source of the voice and it freaked me out.

"Excuse me?" I asked. "Did you just call me a creature?" I just realized what he said and I was stunned. What kind of creature does he think I am?

"Could you not tell that this boy is a son of the gods?" he asked. He sounded slightly panicked. "Now we shall face the wrath of his family."

I could hear the shuffling of feet, as if they were nervous and scared.

"Untie him at once," the voice said. "We cannot allow him to leave since you brought him hear and I will not allow you to lay another hand on him for fear of further punishment from his family." Turning to me he said, "Forgive these children's trespasses, my lord, we will do everything in our power to make sure you are happy here."

I narrowed my eyes in the direction from where the voice is coming from as my hands were untied by unseen hands. "There really is no way for me to leave here?" I asked. "Because that would be really unfortunate since I have ADHD and really do not like staying in one place for long. It would get boring here quick, especially since I can't tell what you look like or where you are."

"Are you sure, my lord?" The voice asked. "You are looking right at me."

I blinked in surprise. "Really?" I asked. "I was guessing."

"You are very skillful my lord," the voice said. "Do you have any other senses that would be able to tell you where we are?"

I shook my head. "The only one that would be able to help me in that way is my water powers. And I cannot keep that up for long," I told them. "Are you sure I cannot leave?"

"My lord, the only way you could leave is if you became one of us," the voice said. "And since that won't be happening-"

"Hold on," I interrupted. "Why won't that be happening?"

If I could see the man, I am sure that he would have looked either confused or surprised. "Because, my lord," he said. "Never has the offspring of a god been one of us."

"Well, that is about to change because I am not going to stay here forever," I said, clapping my hands together, making some of the ninjas in the room jump, allowing me to see them for a split second before they disappeared again. "Let's start shall we? It would be useful to learn the skills you all have."

"My lord-"

"Fire Lord," I interrupted again. This 'my lord' business was getting on my nerves. "Call me Fire Lord."

"And call me Dominick," the voice said. "Fire Lord, you would not be getting out of here anytime soon because the training of one of use starts at a young age. At your age, you would not be leaving until you reached the age of fifty."

I shrugged. "I don't care about that, do not worry, I'll be fine," I told them. "Just put me at whatever level people my age would be at."

I could tell this made Dominick more nervous. "But Fire Lord-"

"Scratch that, have me fight some people so you can see where I would be in this training program of yours," I said, hoping for a compromise. I did not want to make anyone uncomfortable.

There was a sigh. "Very well, Fire Lord."
