Chapter 8: The Engagement Party Gone Wrong
Our week in Delton had finally come to an end. There was no more discussion of war or anything we should have been worried about. Liam and I were starting to enjoy our time together in his Kingdom. He fulfilled his royal duties, we went on dates, and went to a few events to make public appearances as an engaged couple. He spent more time with his father and Malcolm spent more time with his mother. I bonded with Delaney and her daughters in my spare time. Everything was going well. It was finally the day before we were heading back to my Kingdom to get ready for my birthday celebration and our wedding. In honor of our departure, Marissa and Randolph decided to throw Liam and I an engagement party tonight for the people of Delton. Our parents had came to an agreement that since our wedding and reception were being held in my Kingdom, it was best to have the engagement party here in Delton. My parents had flew in two days ago to help out.
Liam and I also came up with a mutual agreement ourselves. We decided that we would sleep in separate chambers to reduce any types of temptations because the lust we had for each other was growing intensely day by day.
I awaken to the warmth of the sun in my face and decide to get up for my very last day in the Delton Kingdom. I make my way to the bathroom and then to the closet to put on something nice. Once finished, I make my way to Liam's room and knock on the door, "May I enter, sir Liam?"
"You may enter, lady Anna" I hear him say amused.
I open the door and walk in. He smiles, picks me up and spends me around, "You can just come in. You don't need to knock. You know this"
"I know but we're so cute" I grin as he kisses my nose.
"I can't believe you're going to be my wife in just a couple of weeks" he says looking down at me.
"I know. I'm so excited to spend the rest of my life with you" I smile.
"Me too" He says leaning towards my lips.
Our kiss grows passionate as he pushes our bodies closer together and I run my hands through his hair. We slowly pull away.
"I love you"
"I love you too," I say out of breath.
"I miss you too. In celebration of our engagement party, let's sleep in my bed together for our last night here" Liam suggests.
"Only if you keep your lips to yourself. We've been doing well at controlling ourselves" I smile.
"Fine, but I make no promises" He says kissing me one more time as we walk out of his room and head downstairs.
We walk into the grand kitchen and startle the servants. I wish I had remembered their names.
"Oh! Princess Anna, Prince Liam, did someone not come to take your breakfast orders. We apologize" A sweet servant woman says.
"No, it's okay. We actually wanted to make our own breakfast if that's okay" I smile my polite Princess smile that no one can say "no" to.
"You both want to cook? Nonsense. That's what we're here for. We can do it, Princess" A servant man says.
"Actually, Margaret, Simon, Princess Anna and I would like to give it a try. If we don't succeed, then you can make us breakfast" Liam says sweetly.
They both look at each other and then at the others in the kitchen, nod, and move aside.
"Please, Margaret, Simon and the others. Go relax and take a break. We'll come find one of you if we need you" I smile politely.
They all smile and nod as they exit the grand kitchen.
"Okay, my princess. What shall we make?" Liam asks.
"Hmm. I'm not sure. What are you in the mood for?"
"How about some pancakes?" Liam smiles.
"Let's do it!" I cheer.
Liam grabs the pancake mix, milk, and eggs as I search for a frying pan, a bowl, a spoon, and a spatula.
"Okay. We have all of the things we need here" I state.
"This is going to be a disaster" Liam laughs.
"Hey! Think positive! We've got this. We're a team" I smile as he makes his way to me.
He places his hand on my cheek and caresses my face as I turn and kiss his hand. We make eye contact and our lips touch. Our kiss intensifies as he picks me up and sits me on the counter. I lean back as he leans over me. He pushes me up further and we end up knocking three eggs on the floor. The sound breaks our kiss and we look on the floor at the broken eggs.
"We're already making messes," I laugh as Liam laughs with me.
"I can think of more messes we can make" He winks.
I hit his butt and grab some napkins to clean up the egg mess.
"We don't even need eggs actually. It's just the 'add water' type of pancakes" Liam states.
"Shall we get fancy and add a bit of milk too?" I ask amused.
Liam puts the extra eggs away and adds the pancake mix to the bowl. I throw away the napkins from the crushed egg mess and wash my hands.
"How much water do we need?" I ask.
"I don't know but let's just add some" Liam says taking the bowl and adding water from the faucet.
"We can't do that. We need a certain amount. We don't want to add too much" I laugh as I take the bowl from him. "Remember, you can always add but you can't take away"
"Those aren't the rules in math" Liam smirks.
I look at the bowl and say, "Let's mix it and see if it's too soggy"
Liam starts to stir the pancake mix with the spoon.
I notice the hand mixer say, "Let's use the mixer"
I plug it in and hand it to Liam. He turns it on and the pancake batter splashes everywhere. I scream as Liam tries to turn it off and knocks the whole bowl over. I laugh and end up slipping in the mess and falling on the floor.
"My love" Liam says concerned as he tries to help me up and slips as well.
He rolls over and gets pancake batter on his nose, "Are you okay?"
I laugh even harder and nod as his eyes cross trying to see the batter on his nose and then starts to laugh as well.
I pull him to me, "I love you so much"
"Holy crap! You guys are screwed" We hear Malcolm say as we turn towards the main kitchen entrance to see an amused Malcolm and a shocked Delaney.
"What in goodness gracious?" Queen Lowry gasps as she walks in with my mother.
"Margaret! Simon!" Queen Lowry yells.
All of the servants scurry into the kitchen and are immediately shocked.
"Wait! Don't be mad at them. They had nothing to do with this. We asked them to let us make our own breakfast. We did this. We'll clean it up" I say trying to stand up as Liam helps me.
"Your engagement party is tonight and look at the both of you and this mess! Annalise, you know better!" My mother yells as I roll my eyes. Why'd she have to go all whole first name on me?
"I know. I'm sorry, mother, Queen Marissa, Margaret, Simon, other servants. This won't happen again" I say politely in an aplogetic way.
"I'm sorry as well, but don't blame Anna. I was the one who knocked over the bowl and created the whole mess in the first place. Blame me instead" Liam confesses.
Queen Lowry's face did not budge but my mother's face softens at Liam's apology. Wow. Really? He's become her weakness.
"Cut them some slack, dear. They're just having fun. They're about to be married. Let them mess around a bit," King Lowry says amused as he comes in.
"Yeah. Then they'll really mess around. That's when the real fun comes in. If you know what I mean?" My father winks causing my mother to hit him, King Lowry to high five my dad, Liam and Malcolm to laugh and all of us women looking annoyed.
I turn to Liam with a raised eyebrow and he awkwardly coughs.
"You two go get cleaned up. You both got fitted a couple of days ago and now there is coordinating outfits in Liam's room. They just arrived from the royal tailor. Shower, get dressed, behave, stay clean, and don't do anything else you're not supposed to until after the engagement party" Queen Lowry states.
"You might want to clarify that, mother" Malcolm jokes.
"Yeah because if he takes after me, I'd do a lo-"
"Don't" Queen Lowry says cutting off her husband before he could finish his statement.
"Move it! We'll have Bryan bring you guys something to eat to hold you off until the engagement party starts in four hours" My mother says.
"We'll clean this up immediately and then begin cooking for the party" Margaret says as the other servants swiftly start cleaning.
I look at Margaret and she politely smiles and nods. Liam and I look at each other and scurry past them and head upstairs.
"You know, I feel like this happened for a reason. I burned the first and second batch of pancakes I've ever made in my life when I went through stages of trying to be more self sufficient. If we wouldn't have been interrupted, the mess would have gotten worse and we probably would have burnt the kitchen down. My mother would have murdered me. I mean, did you see the look on her face?" I say guiltily as Liam laughs and nods in agreement, "She definitely went all full birth given first name on you. Annalise!"
"Right!" I laugh, "But you're definitely her weakness. The moment you started talking, her face melted with sincerity" I state wiping some of the batter off his nose making Liam laugh again.
We walk into Liam's room and see our clothes on the bed. They looked nice and were coordinated perfectly. It made this whole moment seem even more real. We were really going to get married.
"It makes our marriage seem even more real doesn't it?" Liam says sweetly as I nod and turn to him,"So, would you like to shower first?"
"You can, if you'd like" He says awkwardly.
"I mean, we can take a shower together if you promise not to look" I say seductively.
"I can't make any promises. Shower alone" He chuckles.
I laugh and go into the bathroom. Once I finish my shower, I dry off, put on my robe and walk out into the room. Liam looks at me and we make eye contact.
"Sorry. I'm not trying to entice you with my silk robe, I just thought it'd be easier to get dress once you went in to take a shower" I state.
"No, no. It's okay. I understand. Bryan brought fruit, yogurt and bagels for us"
"Did he bring cream cheese?" I ask.
"He most certainly did because he knows you like it with your bagels" Liam smiles as he goes into the bathroom.
While he was showering, I put on my thousand pound scarlet and gold dress. I thought it was cute how Liam and I were going to be matching in color and style. Apparently through the centuries, these colors were important. Scarlet represented royalty and fine linen for Tabernacle, while Gold represented Glory, Divinity, Kingship, Eternal Deity, foundation, altar, beauty, precious, Holiness, Majesty, and righteousness. I walk over to eat a bite of yogurt and some fruit. I sit on the edge of the bed and think. It made me curious on how my actual wedding dress was going to look. It was the 21st century and while most engaged women picked their own dresses, in this Royal family my mother and mother in law chose my dress for me but it used our families Royal colors. I'm more than sure it will be white and silver with something that either represented my family's Royal color or Liam's. Liam would probably coordinate in color as well but have a different style. They may even use both of our families main royal colors which were Amber and Sapphire. I always found the meanings of our families Royal colors interesting with how it matched our religious beliefs. White is usually what most women wear for a wedding dress color but for my family, silver is added because it has its own special meaning. White represents Bride of Christ, surrender, harvest, light, conquest, victory, blessedness, Joy, Angels, saints, peace, completion and triumph, while Silver meant word of God, purity, salvation, truth, atonement, redemption. It's interesting because white is usually what purity is, but with us, it's silver. My family's Royal color was sapphire which meant Law, commandments, Grace, Holy Spirit, and divine revelation, while Liam's was Amber which represented the Glory of God, judgment upon sin, and endurance.
"Penny for your thoughts?" I hear as I jump at the sound of the voice that started me.
I turn to see a shirtless Liam drying his hair with his towel. He had already had on his pants, all he needed to do was put on the rest. I didn't want him to put it on. I just wanted to look at his chest and feel all over it instead.
"I was just thinking about our Royal colors and their meanings" I say trying not to stare too hard at his lovely chest.
"It's interesting, isn't it?" He asks reaching for his tunic.
"It really is" I say as I stand up.
"You look so beautiful" He says sweetly, starting at me intently.
"Thank you" I blush.
He finishes getting dressed and we both turn and look into the mirror.
"We look good!" I grin.
"We do but anyone can look better with you by their side" Liam says sweetly looking at me.
"Aw, babe" I smile as I bump him with my hip.
"It's true"
I turn towards him and and kiss him every so sweetly.
"I can't wait to marry you"
"I can't wait to marry you either" I respond, " Now, let's eat. That cream cheese is calling my name. I'll pray"
"Yes ma'am" Liam smirks as he grabs our tray of brunch.

Liam and I were taken into separate chambers for our last finishing touches with hair, styling and makeup before our grand entrance. There were a lot of people who had already arrived from all over the world and all over the many Kingdom's to celebrate our betrothal. I had to admit, I was a bit nervous. I had this weird feeling in my gut.
