“What’s wrong?…What happened? … Why the long face?” Beth asked in confusion. Her lungs burned and vision blurred. She felt tensed and looked into Harry's dark eyes... He could see tears pricking in beth's sad eyes.

“She died!… With all her struggles, the young girl died!” He bursted out facing the girl.

A shiever ran through her spine as her mind raced with million of thoughts.

“OMG! Jas is dead!” Beth broke down in tears and went to her side.  Touching her, trying to wake her up but she didn’t move or breath. Only then, she discovered she’s lost everything.

The baby started crying. Harry entered the room and met the shock of his life. He quickly dropped the baby beside marie on the bed, thinking she was asleep , he woke Marie. She didn’t wake, breath or moved. He sprinkled water on her but it was too late. She was dead.

Harry squeezed his wife loser to him, The same way beth cried over Jas…asking her to look at her even once.

Just then, Beth remembered the last words of Jaz “…mother.” She cried bitterly untill she heard harry, crying too, calling his wife’s name. She quickly rushed to the room to see what’s happening.

She was shocked. Hot tears fell down her red checks. She couldn’t believe her eyes. She couldn’t believe that marie that just talked to her a minute ago is dead.

“So she meant her words…and the promise.” Beth said to herself with her shaky voice and carried the carrying baby.

“Marie said she names her Daphne and that I shouldn’t leave both of you, ever” Beth mumbled.

“What? she told you that and told me nothing!… She promised to stay by my side forever and now she’s gone!… Is that fair?” He asked and turned back to the love of his life.

“This is not what we bargained for! We took oaths and promises, remember? You didn’t fulfil you promises! Why!” He wept bitterly over her body.

A Week Later…

Harry and Beth buried the bodies with some of the villagers who showed sympathization with them. Beth revealed the truth about Jasmine being her daughter. She told him everything about her… but she stayed with harry and Daphne like a nanny.

Beth accepted that it was her fate and destiny to stay in the countryside… She takes care of Dafie like Jaz. She gave her a middle name Jasmine…and calls her Jaz once a while.

As days grows into weeks, Harry still thought of his late wife, marie. He drinks too but Beth tries her best to stop him. Sometimes, he pours all his anger out at her but she complies because of the promise she’s made.

As weeks grows into months, Fred got used and obsessed with drugs…all because of beth. He forgot about beth and drugs took her place over him. Fred spent billions of dollars on the drugs and didn’t care about any business lose or who suffers for it. All on his mind was Marijuana, Cocaine, Heroine, Roofies, Ecstasy and other illegal drugs.

One day… John brought the drugs he ordered for. He had melt the cocaine already and only needs to inject fred with it.
John noticed the silence in the house. He entered and met fred dead… with blood stains everywhere. He quickly rushed fred to the hospital, forgetting that their little secret would be exposed.

When john got the the hospital, various tests were taken on  him and it was discovered that his systems were damaged because of the illegal drugs. John was checked and it was uncovered that john wasn’t only a drug addict but a drug seller. Thinking John was responsible for fred's death, he got arrested and was sent years imprisonment.

The police that searched fred’s house found Joe. They quickly called Fijabi, fred’s mum to come for joe. Joe was a year and some months old now.

Fijabi was so sad to lose her son. It was all her fault…he didn’t forgive her before he died. She cried all day and asked the police to torture John for influencing her son with nothing but drugs. But she was glad and happy she had Joe… She promised herself to train him like her fred, to love and cherish him like beth did. Fijabi made sure he had everything he wanted… She employed 3 nurses and 2 bodyguards for him.

As months grows into years, harry became hypertensive. He died exactly five years after marie. He died of hypertension after months of strugglings… All because of marie. His last word was “Take care of daphne like your own ‘cos you’re all she have…. ”

Dafie was sad but beth stood beside her. He was buried next to marie’s grave. She taught dafie like her daughter and brought her up in the best way. Beth never told her about marie…

Back to Jay…

Jay grew with the gangs. Scorpion thought it was wise enough to train him to become one of them since he was asked to do anything. Jay was sad about losing his family…he hated them with so much passion before because he didn’t like their way of life. But he later grew to love it, with passion.

They named him Mason so Mrs. Williams or anyone won’t recognise him. They told him “MASON SCOTT”   ( Mascot for short) was his new name and dyed his black hair blonde. Jay had to adapt with everything ‘cos he is now choiceless.

He brought new ideas to work on and soon became the gang Lord after Scorpion.
