The Security of STARK Tower
Hi everybody! Peter Parker here. So here's a quick recap about what just happened. If you are reading these chapters back to back just skip this paragraph. Anyways, my Decathalon team and I just arrived at STARK Tower. As usual Flash was bullying me. Thanks to gravitational issues he was suddenly stopped from doing so. As we were getting off the bus, I realized I forgot my ID card at home and can only get in via FRIDAY. It's not like anything else could possibly go wrong. Right?
Enough of my ranting of the past hour or so. Back to current events!
I stood in the lobby, surrounded by my peers. I am way too nervous right now. It's just an announcement from FRIDAY! What's the worst that could happen?
Don't answer that!
Lucy, a tour guide of whom I've interacted with many times, was walking towards our class. She was holding a basket full of STARK Tower ID cards.
When she reached us, she set the basket on the ground and got the attention of the team. "Hi everybody!" She had said that way too cheerfully. "My name is Lucy and I will be your tour guide for the day."
Flash raised his hand and shoved his way towards a spot where he was visible. Lucy called on him. "What's in the basket?"
Lucy gave an obnoxiously fake smile. "Very good question!" Flash stood up straighter, as though it gave him more pride to his ego. "In this basket are your ID cards. They are only to be used today and will deactivate once you leave the premises. So you are welcome to keep them as souvenirs."
There it was again. That obnoxiously cheerful manner. Only a tour guide could be professional enough to act this fake. I know Lucy and she is so not this cheerful outside of work. My respect for her has skyrocketed.
Lucy gained my attention as she started to hand out the ID cards to everyone. I, like expected, was not give one and thankfully no one noticed.
Yet again, Flash raised his hand and was called on. "What are the numbers and colors for?"
Lucy gave another 'heartfelt' smile. "Yet, another good question. There are 5 levels of clearance. Each level has a different color code. Level 1 is visitors. Yellow is for tour groups, that would be you all. Green is for the press. Brown is for those visiting for conferences, business meetings, and the like. Blue is for the guests of level 3 or 4 ID card holders. Level 2 is for STARK Tower employees. Because there is such a wide variety of Interns, like myself, we are given ID cards with a rainbow. Red is for scientists. Orange is for employees such as gardeners, janitors, people like that. Level 3 is for all of security. They only have one color, of which is black. Level 4 is for the Avengers. They each have their ID's color coded to match their Avenger persona. For example, Captain America is Red, White, and Blue. Level 5 is only given out to 5 people, so far. Pepper Potts-Stark, Morgan Stark, a Janitor named Stan, Tony Stark and his personal intern. Stan is the only employee to have this card because he is the head janitor of the whole building. Their color codes I believe are each of their identifying colors. Kind of like the Avengers. For example, Mr. Stark's colors are Red and Gold."
Lucy took in a deep breath. "Wow, that was a lot to say." She brushed it off with a laugh. "Alright students we are now going to pass through the security check point. Have your ID cards in hand and ready to swipe. Once you get through, make sure to clip your card somewhere visible. Our head of security is very strict about ID cards being visible at all times."
One by one, the Decathalon team filed through the security check point. FRIDAY read off their level and color clearance in a monotone voice as they passed through. I stood at the far back, trying to delay the inevitable.
Then came my turn. Only a few people watched me as I walked forward. All the rest were gawking at their surroundings, but not for long. Once FRIDAY began to talk everyone was looking my way. "Peter Parker level 5 clearance, color codes red and blue. Personal intern of Tony Stark. Welcome back Peter. You're here early. Would you like me to notify the Boss of your arrival?"
I tried to ignore all the staring as I responded. "Hi FRIDAY. I'm here for my Decathalon fieldtrip. No need to notify Tony. He already knows I'm here."
"Sounds good Peter. Have fun on your trip. Also, don't forget tonight it is Mr. Stark's turn to make dinner." I smiled at the reminder. Tony was the one who taught me how to cook. Surprisingly he is an excellent chef. I'm excited to see what he has in store for tonight.
My moment of happy thoughts was interrupted. "How in hell did Penis Parker get level 5 clearance?!" Of course you know who said that.
I turned to the team and gave a sheepish smile. Before I could come up with an answer, Lucy grabbed the team's attention.
"Alright everyone, now that we have all passed through security we can continue on!" Lucy glanced at me and I mouthed a 'Thank you'. She gave me a genuine smile and then turned around to lead the class on.
Well that didn't go as badly as I thought it would.
