The Avengers Gym

We were walking down a long hallway towards the elevators. Everyone was silent.

It was awkward and nerve wracking.

I think everyone is still in shock.

Once we all piled into the elevator, Lucy broke the silence. "FRIDAY, take us to the Avengers Gym."

The elevator began to move downwards and everyone was still silent.

Then, I felt a hand on my shoulder. I turned my head and saw MJ had moved up behind me. I smiled at her. "What's up?"

She gave the smallest smile that was barely noticable. "When there's a chance, we need to talk."

My eyes went wide. I didn't know what to say. I just nodded my head and look back towards the elevator doors. MJ stayed where she was, but she did something unexpected.

MJ entwined her hand into mine.

I smiled even more and returned the gesture by giving her hand a squeeze.

We stayed like that till the elevator stopped and the doors opened.

In front of us was a whole floor dedicated to gym equipment. Weights, trampolines, fighting rings, punching bags, and other various items.

I've seen the place thousands of times, since I trained in this room. Everyone else hadn't. Seeing their reactions was priceless. It shook them out of their shocked state, from earlier, and brought them into a state of amazement.

We all walked out into the middle of the room. My hand still holding MJ's.

Lucy began explaining some of the items in the room. I spaced out, since I already knew what everything was used for.

MJ brought me back down to Earth when she gave a tug on my hand. I looked back at her and she gestured for us to go talk. We walked towards a wall that was a good distance behind the class.

(A/N I'm going to do something along the lines of Far From Home here. That's why this will seem so familiar. I wanted it to be exactly how the characters would react in this situation, so I am going to do what happened in the movie. Or atleast try to. 😁👍)

We stood there for a moment and then suddenly MJ hugged me. I was shocked for a second before I wrapped my arms around her.

"Thank you." She said into my neck. "Thank you for saving me."

We stayed there a moment longer before we released each other. As we separated, her hands trailed down my arms before they were placed back on her sides.

I gave a smile. "I'm just glad I was able to save you. I don't  know what would have happened if I hadn't stepped in. I was waiting for Mr. Stark to come in and help, but when I realized that wasn't happening, the fact that Natasha wasn't waking up and..."

MJ cut me off in the middle of my ranting.

She cut me off by kissing me.

On the lips.

Quickly.

I stood there in shock. "... and you kissed me."

She glanced down at her feet with a smile and then looked back up at me. "I don't really have that much luck when it comes to getting close to people. I wasn't just getting closer to you these past few months because I thought you were Spider-man."

I gave a small smile, so did she. I was so relieved to hear that was the reason.  "That's great."

She laughed slightly at that and I did as well. Then, I finally built up the courage to say something I've been wanting to say for quite some time. "I really like you."

We both smiled at each other. "I really like you too."

We both stepped forward and shared another quick kiss. We separated and looked at each other again. We leaned in once more and kiss again. This kiss lasted a few seconds longer than the previous two.

We separated again and smiled at each other. MJ was the first to speak. "We should probably get back to the class."

We both shared a small laugh and I agreed with her.

I took MJ's hand and led her to the back of the group. As we stood there, MJ grasped my hand with both of hers and leaned into my shoulder. My smile grew even more.

I looked back up and began to listen to Lucy. "... and so this piece of equipment over here is used to test the strengths of each of the Avengers."

Lucy gestured to a weight lifting station that I had yet to use myself. It was brand new and only a few of the Avengers had used it. Lucy continued her speech. "Not many Avengers have used it, but the few who have gave off high amounts of strength. The record holder is Thor. He was able to lift 10 tons of weight. That is 20,000 lbs. The closest weight lift was Captain America. He was only capable of lifting 1,100 lbs. That is 900 lbs away from 1 ton. But, that is to be expected. Seeing as Thor is a God and Captain America is a super soldier."

This was fascinating information. I had yet to hear about this and I was soaking in the knowledge like a sponge. "The machine works very simply. The person using it enters in a weight they know they are capable of handling. Then after 2 reps the weight will increase by 100 lbs. If you are incapable of one of the reps, the machine is there as a spotter. It will pick the weight off of you and mark the previous weight as your record."

I was excited to try the machine later on when I had the time.

Lucy was about to start speaking about another item in the gym when a hand raised up in the crowd of students. Lucy called on the hand.

"What is Parker's record?"

Only one person had the confidence to ask about that.

Flash.

Everyone turned towards me. Some were shocked to see MJ and my hands entwined, but ignored it for the time being.

All eyes were on me. I looked towards Lucy for help. "Well, Mr. Parker has been busy so he has yet to use the machine and test his limit."

I nodded in agreement. Then I gained the courage to speak. "I was hoping to use it later to find out. But, as Lucy said, I have yet to find time to do so."

I gave a small smile. Then, Betty spoke up. "Well, why not try it now?"

Oh shit.

I stood there with my mouth open. I looked to Lucy and then to MJ. They both looked like they also didn't know what to do.

Then, the elevator doors opened up.

In walked Steve Rodgers, a.k.a. Captain America. He was wearing gym gear and was holding a towel. It looked like he was here for a work out.

When he saw us, he smile and walked over towards me. He slapped a hand onto my free shoulder. "Hi there Peter. You and your class getting a good tour so far? Besides the Hydra invasion?"

I laughed at that. "Yeah, so far it's been good. I've heard it all before, but I think everyone else is enjoying it."

I looked over to the class and they were in amazement. They were in the presence of The Captain America. Why wouldn't they be?

Lucy stepped forward. "We were just discussing the weight lifting records and how Peter has yet to use the machine."

Mr. Rodgers looked down at me. "Well why not try it out now?" He gave me a reassuring smiling.

I gave in. How could you not give in to the smile and reassurance from The Captain America. "Fine! I'll do it."

MJ let go of my hand and I walked over to the machine. I did some arm stretches and climbed onto the bench.

Looking over I saw the touch screen. It said 'Touch here to start'. I tapped the screen and it moved on to the next page. It asked me to type in my starting weight.

I had to think about this for a second. The most I've lifted was the building off of myself. But, I don't know how much that would weigh.

I turned to Ned. "Hey, guy in the chair." Ned looked at me since he was mesmerized by Captain America, of whom was standing right next to him. "How much would you say that building weighed?"

Everyone's eyes widened. They were confused as to why I was asking this and what it had to do with weight lifting. It made sense, seeing as Ned was the only one who knows about the details of Homecoming.

All the while, Ned's faced turned into one of contemplation. I could see he was doing the math in his head. He stopped his calculations and began to rant about it. "Well if you take in consideration of the roofing, the amount of concrete, piping, and the floors above you... I'd estimate 5 tons."

Everyone looked at him in shock. MJ spoke up. "What does he mean by floors above you?!"

I gave a sheepish smile. "I kind of got trapped under a building when I was fighting Vulture. I had to lift the building off of my back in order to escape and stop him from hacking into a STARK airplane and stealing STARK property."

Silence.

Mr. Rodgers broke it first. "Kid, that's more than I can lift."

I gave a small laugh and a sheepish smile, again. Before anyone could continue speaking, I turned back to the machine and entered in 5 tons. The machine excepted the answer and said 'Position yourself and push up on the bar to begin.'

I got under the bell bar and squared my shoulders properly. I gripped the bar and pushed up.

Then I felt the machine push down on the bar, as though there were 2.5 tons of weight on each side.

I breathed through the rep and did a second one. It was a lot easier than when I was under a building. But to put it in perspective, I was doing more of a push up during that time rather than a rep.

I continued more reps and felt more weight be placed on the bar each time I finished 2 of them.

This went on for quite some time. I was sweating a lot, but I wasn't getting as tired as I thought I would be.

Eventually, I heard the maching beep out loud. It startled me and I lost my grip on the bar in the middle of a rep.

The machine stopped the bar before it could crashed down on me and slowly raised it, so I could get out. "Dang it. If it weren't for that beeping I wouldn't have lost my grip!"

I sat up and pouted. I looked up and saw shocked faces staring at me. "What?"

Ned pointed towards the machine's touch screen

I looked over and saw the reason. The screen said '20,200 *lbs incomplete. Record 20,100 lbs. NEW RECORD!'

I was shocked.

The fact that I could have gone much longer made me even more shocked.

I can lift more than Thor Odinson.

I can lift more than a God.

I turned back to everyone else. No one knew what to say.

After a few seconds, the elevator doors opened and people came rushing in.

Mr. Stark, Thor, Loki, Natasha, and Clint.

Mr. Stark was the first to speak. "FRIDAY told me someone beat Thor's record! Who was it?!"

He was rushing around the class and abruptly stopped when he saw me sitting on the bench.

Thor walked around him and smiled at me. "Good for you Man of Spiders! If I'm glad anyone broke my record, it was you!"

I still sat there in shock.

Holy shit.

How was I going to explain that I was startled away from continuing?! How was I going to explain that I could lift more than that if I wanted to?!

Peter Parker here! Thank you everyone for reading the new update. This was an eventful filled chapter and I'm glad the author was able to put it into words, finally.

Author: Hey! I'm sorry I am random when it comes to my updates. I'm trying to be a good college student.

Peter: True. You are doing a great job.

Author: Awe, thanks Spidey. I still don't know how I'm doing it.

Peter: Everybody, round of applause for the author. Not only is she writing this wonderful book, she is also an 18 unit student and managing to keep straight A's. All the while she has rehearsals for Heathers The Musical till 9 o'clock at night, she has to memorize her lines and Heather MacNamara's lines because she is an Understudy, and she is having to deal with grief!👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

Author: *blushes* Stop it. I don't deserve your praise.

Peter: *deadpan* Yes, yes you do. Anyways. Thanks again everybody and I will see you all in the next update! Spidey out! ✌🕸

*lbs means pounds
