Chapter 3

After a busy day of English and Mathematics, it was the hero training portion of the day and Midnight was in the classroom. She was explaining to the class that they had to choose a hero alias before they go on their internships and was spending this period going through names that everyone was choosing. Ginger watched as each one of their classmates went up, while some (Bakugou and Mina) were sent back to their seats to think of something else for their hero names.

Ginger stared at the poster board in front of them, ears flat on their head. They've never really thought about this before. They were always referred to as 'Cat' or 'Agent' while being in the U.S. and were never given a chance to name themselves. This would be a huge step forward for them. They had to think carefully. They thought about their skills, who they were, and what they stood for. Then it clicked.

They quickly scribbled down their new hero name and raised their hand timidly. "Ah, Ginger! Come on up, darling, I'm sure you have something exquisite.~" Midnight licked her lips, making Ginger smile uncomfortably towards the Rated R hero, and walked up to the pedestal, their claws tapping against the ground. They put the poster board down on the pedestal, turned it around, and said, "I will now be the Cat Hero: Jaguar. I thought really hard about this one, I hope you guys like it..." Their tail swayed against the floor anxiously as their ears were pinned down on their head, looking towards the floor as their shock collar started up.

Everyone started clapping and throwing comments, practically saying that they liked the name and that it fit perfectly. Ginger smiled timidly at them and sat back down, letting everyone else go. They were looking forward to the internships now. They don't have to worry about the government hero agency, they can just focus on themselves for now.

~

After a week, the internships had begun. Ginger had sent in multiple tapes to multiple agencies and a few had accepted to take them on for an internship, one of the agencies being Gunhead's, the one Uraraka was going to. They happily accepted going to his agency for the internship and were excited about this opportunity.

Aizawa had told everyone that they had to go to the agencies in their hero costumes and get there on their own. He opened the wall that had the hero costumes and another shelf had come out with the number 21. Ginger's ears went up, excitement coming through. It was their hero costume! Finally, it came in!

Ginger ran up to their briefcase after snatching up their backpack, grabbing it swiftly, and running out of the classroom. They ran towards the locker rooms, deciding to use the girl's locker room to change. They opened the briefcase slowly, keeping their eyes closed until it was opened all the way. They peaked one eye open and widened their eyes at the dark purple and black clothing.

They took out everything one at a time. They ordered a black skin-tight long-sleeved cropped turtleneck and leggings, black and purple combat- and exercise-friendly binder, some purple spandex to go over the leggings, a purple mask, purple wrist braces to absorb shock from landing on their hands, and purple brass knuckles for close combat. They smiled at everything that was in the case and noticed a small black case.

They picked the case up and opened it, smiling at the contents. It was the earbuds that Kin had made for them. These were going to be put to good use. The door to the locker room opened and the girls started flooding in, not glancing an eye towards Ginger.

They looked around and found a secluded corner that they could hide in and started to undress. They got to their chest binder and sighed softly as they started to unclip it. They kept their eyes forward as they got the combat chest binder on last. They put on the turtleneck and leggings, not wanting to look at themselves yet. They knew that their fat was being pronounced by the skin-tight materials, but knew that the spandex and chest binder would handle the fat.

They got the chest binder on quickly and noticed that it wasn't constricting their breathing as horribly as their regular binder. They hummed and finished getting dressed, just leaving the mask to be put on. They grabbed a hair tie from their backpack and tied their hair back in a ponytail. They found a mirror and started tying the mask on, looking at their entire costume.

They loved that the sleeves went all the way down to their fingers and made holes for their fingers to peek through past the first knuckle. The leggings were like stockings, allowing their paw-like feet to peek through at the heel and balls of their feet. Their toes also had pads and were peeking through the stocking-like leggings. The only skin that was showing was their midriff and was only showing to allow their tail to be free.

They didn't notice the locker room suddenly getting quiet until someone tapped on their shoulder. They whirled their head toward the person, a furious blush on their face as they were caught admiring their costume. It was Uraraka, smiling sweetly at Ginger. "You look great! Let's get going, yeah? Don't want to be late!" Uraraka grabbed Ginger's bag and their hand, dragging them along, making Ginger smile softly. As they were heading out of the locker room, they spotted Bakugou, who also spotted Ginger. Ginger swore that they saw Bakugou turn red, but couldn't confirm as Uraraka started running off with Ginger's hand in hers.

They arrived at the agency after a short train ride and greeted the Battle Hero Gunhead with enthusiasm. "Hello, you two! We will start patrolling today and I'll explain the basics of hero-ing! Let's get going!" He walked past the two, who quickly followed behind him. He began explaining how heroes and the police work together and how the heroes get evaluated and paid.

Ginger and Uraraka listened carefully, noticing that he was a lot nicer than he looks. Ginger looked around at the citizens, feeling the small shocks from their collar going off. The anxiety of wanting to show their worth and being in a crowd was showing, making them take deep breaths. Gunhead was still talking with Uraraka, which they didn't mind. They could tell that he was talkative and Uraraka could handle all that talking.

"So, what about you Jaguar? What do you think is important to do while patrolling?" Gunhead asked, looking back towards the cat quirk trainee, whose ears perked up at their name. "Uh, I would think being vigilant and observant is important..." Ginger trailed off, smelling smoke and fire. They looked towards the fire, hearing some screams in the distance. Uravity looked at Ginger, who had stopped in their tracks, a confused look on their face.

"What's wrong, Gi- Jaguar?" She asked, looking towards what Ginger was looking at. "There's a huge fire with gasoline about two blocks away. Should we go there, Gunhead?" Ginger looked towards the hero, who gave a thumbs-up, letting Jaguar lead the way to the fire.

Ginger started running, getting down on their hands and feet to run faster. The screaming was getting louder. The smell of gasoline and rotten eggs filled their nostrils as they arrived at the scene. There was a gas leak somewhere in the building. They looked up at the building, noticing Gunhead arriving. "You two stay behind, it's too dangerous for rookies. I'll page the agency and start getting people out of the building," Gunhead started, getting out his phone and sending out a text.

"Gunhead, there's a gas leak. It's somewhere on the bottom floor. Anybody who is on the top floor has to be evacuated immediately or they'll die," Ginger stated, biting on their thumb claw, anxiety and adrenaline coursing through their veins. "Thank you for the information, Jaguar. You two stay back, notify the fire department, and aid people who are injured. Let's go!" He looked towards the other heroes who arrived on the scene, giving orders and breaching the building.

Jaguar and Uravity looked towards each other, nodding, and started to make an area for a makeshift ER with the EMTs. Ginger looked towards the EMTs who were there, waiting for people to escape the building. Heros started bringing people out one by one, one of the rescued being a child. He wasn't harmed, but he was crying, holding tight to a stuffed dragon. Ginger walked over and sat down in front of him, smiling softly with their sharp teeth.

"Hey, bud, what's your name? I'm Jaguar, a new hero," Ginger said, looking at him. "I-I'm K-Kyo..." he sobbed, rubbing at his eyes to try and stop the tears. Ginger nodded and asked, "If you don't mind me asking, why are you crying?" He cried louder at that question, making their ears go down, a frown showing on their face. They held their arms out to Kyo, allowing him to choose whether or not to be hugged right now.

Kyo collapsed in Jaguar's arms, his tiny hands scrunching up the fabric of their hero suit. Jaguar wrapped their arms around him protectively, wrapping their tail around him as well. "Shhh... it'll be alright. I know this is scary. Let's be brave together okay? Is a parent still in the building, Kyo? I'm sure they'll be out soon," Ginger spoke quietly to Kyo, shielding his eyes from seeing some of the rescued people from the fire who had first, second, or third-degree burns. It was brutal for a kid to be seeing this. "M-M-My mommy... she's still in t-there! Wahhhhhh!" Kyo cried, snot and tears rubbing onto Ginger's hero costume.

Jaguar frowned and got up from the ground with Kyo in their arms, looking at the rescued people. None of the people looked like Kyo, but they couldn't be sure who his mom was. They heard a woman screaming and looked towards her, grimacing at the sight. She was being treated for third-degree burns and looked a little like Kyo. Jaguar walked over to Uravity and said, "Kyo, this is my friend Uravity, I'm going to look for your mom, okay? Stay with her until I come back." Uravity promptly held the kid, nodding towards the cat hero.

Ginger took in a big breath and let it out, walking over to the screaming woman. She was still screaming, squirming around on the cot that was laid out. Ginger looked towards the EMTs who were busy at work with burns on her legs and said, "Ma'am, my name is Jaguar, I'm a hero-in-training. I believe I found your son," Ginger sat to the side of the cot, looking towards the woman. She looked towards Ginger, pain, and desperation in her eyes. "K-Kyo?! He's- ugh, fuck, he's safe?!" She exclaimed, trying to focus on the cat hero. Ginger nodded, saying, "He was one of the first out, ma'am. What should I tell your son? He's currently with my partner."

She screwed her eyes close in pain, and screamed, trying to stay in place. "Gah, please stay with him! Tell him I'm safe, but he- ack, he can't see mommy right now!" "Yes ma'am. I'll keep him safe," Jaguar stood up to get out of the EMT's way, getting back to Uravity. "Kyo, your mom's safe. You can't see her right now because she's with the doctors, but she's safe. For now, you'll stay-" Jaguar's ears perked up, looking towards the building.

"The building's going to blow! Get out of there!" Ginger yelled towards the heroes in front of the building. They looked towards Ginger and then back towards Gunhead. He nodded, yelling out the warning towards everyone else. Luckily, everyone who was in the building was out, so it was just a matter of clearing the area from any explosion debris. Jaguar yelled instructions to everyone, pushing Uravity out of the blast zone.

"My dragon!" Kyo yelled, reaching toward the stuffed animal that was on the ground and near the building. Jaguar looked at the boy and back towards the toy, weighing the time of the explosion and how fast they could run. Jaguar got down on all fours and sprinted towards the stuffed toy, hearing the heroes yelling at them. Ginger continued running, adrenaline pumping through their veins. The shocks from their collar were so painful that it could almost stop anybody in their tracks. Ginger stood strong, eyes on the stuffed animal. They got to the toy, grabbing it in their mouth.

The ground rumbled, making them look towards the tall building. The building burst into flames and debris flew out from the building. Ginger's eyes widened, making them turn around and start bolting, fear running through them. 'Shit, shit, shit!' Ginger sprinted, dodging debris that landed around them. They tripped over their hand, rolling and landing at the feet of Gunhead. They huffed and puffed, their lungs begging for air.

They held onto the toy tightly, getting up wobbly from the ground. They looked toward Kyo, and smiled, holding the toy out to him. He timidly took the toy, looking up at the cat hero with wonder. "Is... is your hand okay?" He asked, his tear-filled face calming down. "It's fine, Kyo. A hero doesn't get stopped by just tripping! They always get back up!" Ginger said, smiling at him sweetly. Kyo smiled back and hugged their legs.

Ginger smiled softly, ruffling the boy's hair. They looked towards the EMT tent and noticed his mom being rolled out on a wheelchair, bandages covering her legs and left arm. Jaguar tapped the boy's head and pointed towards the woman, who he quickly ran to in joy. Ginger smiled as they hugged carefully, smiles on the two faces. "Feels good, doesn't it?" Gunhead asked, looking at Jaguar. Jaguar nodded and said, "Yeah, very much so."

~

Ginger sat in their dorm room that night, wrapping up their wrist in bandages. They sprained their wrist when they tripped and was advised to wrap and ice it from Gunhead. A knock sounded at their door, making them look at it in disdain. They were exhausted, but couldn't sleep just yet. They stood up and opened the door, a questioning look on their face as they saw Bakugou on the other side. "Uh... hi? What can I do for you?" "I... heard that you were at a building fire. How was that?" He asked, leaning against the door frame.

Ginger held the ice pack to their wrist, humming softly. "Would... you like to come in? We can talk more privately." Ginger said, holding the door more open for him to come in. He looked behind him and then walked into the room, sitting down on the bed. "Turn on a fucking light, it's so dark, dumbass," he commented, leaning on his hands. Ginger rolled their eyes and flipped their light on, switching the color to a warm orange color. "There, better?" Ginger asked, sitting at their desk and turning around in their rolly chair.

Bakugou nodded and gestured towards them. Ginger got the point and started talking about their day and what happened at their internship. They talked about the kid and everything that happened between them. Ginger eventually trailed off, noticing that Bakugou was staring at them with an odd look on his face. "Uh, is there something on my face?" Ginger asked, placing down the ice pack so they could wipe at their cheeks. "No, there's nothing there, dumbass, it's just... you have a scar on your eyebrow," he said, a light blush encompassing his features.

Ginger raised a brow and smirked a little, "Uh, yeah, it's been there since I was a kid. Does it bother you?" "No! No, it doesn't. I just... haven't noticed it before. It's... kinda... cute..." he trailed off, looking away from Ginger. Their face exploded in a blush, stuttering, not being able to quite place their words. "U-Uh, thanks? U-Um..." Ginger's ears went down in embarrassment, their tail swaying in interest. They could feel some shocks from their collar, meaning that their heart rate was above the regular. They took some deep breaths, looking down at their hands.

They heard shuffling and looked up, meeting eyes with Bakugou, who was suddenly very close. Somehow, the blush got darker as Ginger's eyes stared at the dark red of Bakugou's own eyes. He smirked and pulled away, walking towards the door, waving goodbye. The door shut as Ginger watched him leave, their blush still strong on their face. Ginger slapped a hand to their mouth and screamed, feeling that their cheeks were on fire.

Bakugou heard the scream from outside the door and tried to suppress his laughter, entering his own room. A blush was still evident on his face as he decided to go to bed for the night, thinking back to that scar above their right eye. He thought about the piercings that were symmetrical on their ears. Two cartilage earrings, two second lobe piercings, and two gauges that went through each side of their ear, looking like a bar. He couldn't help but notice that it looked like they had a tongue piercing as well.

How punk rock is this person? With their dyed hair and piercings, it's no wonder that they seemed to avoid people. He barely knows their personality either but it looks like they are opening up bit by bit. Their smile with their fanged canines was gorgeous as well. Their brown eyes and long tail were cute as all hell. The tail and ears were so expressive and showed emotions that they wouldn't otherwise show off.

Ginger stared at their hands, gnawing on their lips, mulling over the events that just happened. Ginger tapped their claws against the table and floor, shock coming from their collar. Their heart rate hasn't gone down since then and their collar has been going haywire. Ginger groaned and took some deep breaths, attempting to stop the shocks.

Ginger scratched their neck after the electricity stopped, sighing. "Goddamn, I gotta keep myself in check... when's my next heat supposed to come up?" They asked themselves quietly, pulling out their phone to check their calendar. It was coming up in a few weeks. Ginger sighed, scratching their head. They really hated that their quirk changed their period into a heat cycle. It was probably worse than a period if they had a say in it. Being overheated and in pain 24/7 for a week was not optimal.

Ginger flopped on top of their bed, staring at their ceiling. They drifted off to sleep easily after such an exhausting day of hero work.

~

Ginger stood in Gunhead's dojo with Uraraka, doing some pretty standard forms. He wanted them to focus on their core and perfect the form. Ginger stared at the wall in thought as they continued with the form, thinking back to that night a couple of days ago, a blush slowly creeping up on their face. A hand waved in front of their face, making them snap back to reality. They looked at Gunhead, and smiled in embarrassment, going back to the form.

"What were you thinking about? You seemed pretty out of it," he asked, showing interest in Ginger's thoughts. Ginger stopped their technique and scratched their cheek lightly in embarrassment. "I, uh, was thinking about an event that happened a few days ago. I apologize for spacing out, I'll work harder," Ginger spoke, following the form that the others were doing. "I'm not concerned with the amount of work you're doing, I just thought you were distracted by something more important. Maybe... a boy? Hm?" Gunhead teased, making Ginger blush and pout at him.

Uraraka laughed and broke form when Gunhead said for everyone to take a break. Ginger walked over to their bags with Uraraka, picking up their phone. They decided to check their email when Uraraka suddenly gasped. Ginger raised a brow in question when Ochako said, "It's Deku. He sent coordinates and only coordinates. I wonder what it means..." Ginger shrugged, looking back down at their phone.

An email from the government was in their inbox. Ginger's eyes widened when they read the email.

'Dear Agent Ginger. We are informing you that we will be sending a female agent every month on the 17th to go over your heat cycle and to adjust your collar to any specifications we require. The agent will be in touch with Principal Nezu and Mr. Aizawa to check your training progress. If you do not come up to our expectations, you will be required to come back to the states. Do be diligent and keep up the hard work. From Agent O.'

Ginger almost dropped their phone in shock, their shock collar going off. Ginger blinked back tears, taking a deep, shaky breath. They looked at the date on their phone, which said April 15th. Ginger held their breath and released it shakily, writing up a quick reply and shutting off their phone. They looked toward Gunhead and stood in the middle of the floor, getting in their stance to show that they were ready to continue. They will just have to wait until the 17th for their evaluation.

~

Ginger paced in the living area of the dorms early in the morning of the 17th. The internship was over and a lot had happened with Deku. The Hero Killer Stain was detained and Iida, Todoroki, and Deku had major injuries while encountering the villain. They were at school after being admitted to the hospital for about a day and visiting Recovery Girl. Ginger looked up at the clock, seeing it was 6.30 am. 2 hours until the representative was supposed to arrive at the school. 1 hour until classes start. They went out for a run at 5.30 am, came back at 6 am and was trying to waste time until 1-A all collectively left for class.

Ginger heard someone clear their throat and jumped, their ears pressing down on their head as they hissed towards whoever scared them, their tail puffing up. It was Deku. He put his hands up in surrender, and began talking, "S-Sorry! I saw you pacing a-and I didn't want to interrupt you! But, you seem so anxious... are you okay? It's totally okay to not tell me! I understand!" Ginger listened as he rambled, and calmed their breathing, folding their arms over their chest and looking away. "I... it's really nothing. A... relative is coming to visit. I'll be leaving class a little early today and I don't know if I'll come back in time for training," Ginger said, scratching their ears and messing with their piercings as they talked.

"Oh! Of course! I'm sure you'll be back in time for training, I actually have a lot of recommendations on how to improve based on your quirk! When you have time, I'd love to talk to you about it!" Deku exclaimed, showing excitement in the talk of quirks. Ginger smiled softly at him, nodding. "Sure, I'd love to. We can do it later today even," Ginger looked behind Deku and spotted Bakugou, who was leaning against the wall, his back towards them. Ginger faltered slightly, turning around, their tail flicking. "Anyway, I think I'm gonna head out. I gotta clear my head. See you in class," Ginger walked away, heading out the doors, picking their bag up from the floor on the way.

Ginger ran a hand through their dyed hair, biting their lip and furrowing their eyebrows. The shock from their collar was getting more intense as their breathing got heavier. Ginger shook their head and took a deep breath, letting it out slowly. They repeated this until the shocks dissipated, making them sigh in relief. 'God, I'm getting anxious over nothing. Whoever it is, I'll pass the evaluation. Aizawa will surely put in a good word for me, right?' Ginger tried to hype themselves up, walking along the trail to the main school building.

They looked at their phone, seeing it was 6.45 am. They fished out their earbuds from their pocket, popped them in, and started playing some music to try and pass the time. Ginger took their time while walking, watching the cherry blossoms fall from the trees. Ginger got near the entrance of the main building, looking around somewhere to chill out before school. They found a small bench area under some trees, deciding that's where they'll wait.

Ginger stared up at the sky as their music played, the melodies drowning out their worries. The early orange sun shone through the leaves, the red and orange mixing pleasantly. They closed their eyes, taking in deep breaths and letting them out slowly. 'Lost Boy' started playing, making them start singing quietly. "There was a time when I was alone. No place to go and no place to call home. My only friend is the man in the moon, and even sometimes he would go away too," Ginger sang and opened their eyes, meeting gazes with Bakugou.

Ginger yelped and fell backward off the bench, landing hard on their back. They sat up, groaning, rubbing their back to ease the pain. Bakugou looked unfazed, making Ginger huff and get up slowly, picking their bag from the bench and walking away from him. Ginger stopped abruptly when Bakugou grabbed their wrist. They took an earbud out calmly, turning their head and glaring at him.

"What?" "... You'll be fine," Bakugou said curtly, releasing their wrist and walking away. Ginger stood, their eyes wide. Did he just try to comfort them? They know that he heard their conversation with Deku, so the intent was obvious. But, it is so unlike him to do that. Ginger blinked and shook their head, heading into the building with many other students. They just had to wait until 8.30.

~

A knock sounded on the classroom door, interrupting Present Mic during his lecture. Nezu walked in and said, "May I borrow Ginger for a bit? I have some things to discuss with them." Present Mic nodded, gesturing for Ginger to get up, who was already packing their things already. They stood up and exited the classroom, closing the door behind them. They sighed, looking down at Nezu. "Are you ready for your evaluation?" Nezu asked, walking ahead of Ginger, who followed. "As ready as I'll ever be, I suppose," Ginger said, stuffing their hands in their pockets as they listened to the soft clicking of their clawed feet.

Ginger stayed quiet as they made their way to the nurse's office, where the representative would be. Nezu knocked on the door as Ginger opened it, looking inside the room. A woman with long brown hair and dark skin sat in a chair across from Aizawa. She wore a black suit, which was the standard uniform and had a laptop on her lap. Ginger closed the door behind them, standing at attention with their hands locked behind their back, staring ahead.

"At ease. Agent Ginger, my name is Agent Brooke, I will be your evaluator and health inspector today. I have been looking at footage and listening to your instructor and you are exceeding expectations. Continue with this progress. The readings we have been getting from your collar need to be adjusted for the high heart rate that you have on almost a daily basis now. I assume it is from anxiety, correct?" Agent Brooke looked up, her gold eyes piercing into Ginger's brown ones. "Yes ma'am." Agent Brooke nodded, typing on her laptop furiously. Ginger noticed a briefcase on the floor where she was sitting, observing the engravings on the case.

She closed the laptop and started talking again. "Alright. Mr. Aizawa, Nezu, I will have to ask you two to leave now. I will be starting the health check-up now." The two nodded and left the room, the door closing with a soft click. Ginger stayed in place, keeping their eyes on Agent Brooke. "Alright, let's take off this collar to commence the check-up. I will need you to turn into your feral form so we can check on everything in that form. If anything happens, I have the ability to tranquilize you at will. Do you understand?" Ginger nodded, bowing their head and moving their hair to show the back of the metal collar.

On the back, there is a heart monitor and two screws. The agent grabbed a screwdriver and began to loosen the collar. Ginger heard the collar powering down as it started to lose contact with their neck, making them sigh in relief. Soon, the collar was off their neck, making them stretch their neck and rub at it. There were multiple scars on their neck, all varying in how old they were. Some were white, some were red like their stretch marks. The scars went up all the way to their chin and all the way down to their collarbone. Nobody really talked about it because of the obvious reason for those were.

Ginger gave out a low purr as ointment was applied to their neck, relishing in the coolness. "Alright, turn into your feral form, please," Agent Brooke stepped back five steps, giving space for Ginger to change. Ginger nodded, getting down on all fours, and closing their eyes. They reached deep down into their instincts, giving out a deep growl as they felt their bones move and fur starting to grow. Their face started growing into a snout. Many aspects of their anatomy were changing rapidly, showing that the feral state was still healthy and had the ability to still be tapped into.

Ginger opened their eyes, their eyes trained on Agent Brooke as they gave another low growl. They bared their teeth, showing off their now very sharp teeth. Agent Brooke nodded and wrote on a notepad, starting to walk around Ginger, slowly, but meticulously. She was avoiding showing that they were prey to Ginger by being slow, keeping their eyes on the feral person. Ginger sat down on the cold floor, laying their tail over their very large paws as they watched Agent Brooke with their brown cat eyes.

Their fur pattern was very similar to a tabby, with stripes on their ears, tail, and all the way down their back. The tips of their tail, snout, and ears were close to an orange-brown. Many dark brown markings graced their features. Ginger growled as Agent Brooke started to touch them, examining their ears, the inside of the mouth, and their privates to check that they were on track for the heat cycle. Agent Brooke nodded and opened the briefcase, a new collar sitting there. Multiple controllers sat in there as well, probably for distribution to the right people.

The collar was still black but was upgraded somewhat. The lights were integrated into the collar instead of sticking out, and the heart monitor was still there. "This is designed to be more inconspicuous to outsiders. The lights have been deemed useful to the teacher to know whether or not it's on, even if it is a useless feature. It still beeps when it is on or off and the rules of the collar still apply. The collar will shock you when your heart rate is too high. You will now be able to transform into your feral form without being suffocated by the collar now. It will recognize that you are transforming, so I will put it on you right now while in your feral form to program and align it," Agent Brooke talked, securing the collar around Ginger's neck.

It was large at first but then started to adjust to Ginger's neck as it was calibrated. Agent Brooke turned the collar on, shocking Ginger. Ginger roared, beginning to transform quickly, their paws that turned into hands scratching at the collar, shrinking with Ginger as they were shocked. Ginger gasped in pain, finally in their human form, still feeling the extreme shocks. It was so much stronger than what they were used to. Was the government trying to kill them?!

Agent Brooke touched Ginger, who suddenly felt the calming sensation of warmth. Ginger's breathing started to even, making them relax enough to where the shocks stopped. Ginger sighed in relief, looking up at Agent Brooke. Agent Brooke was taking notes, nodding her head as they were observing Ginger. "That concludes the evaluation. You are on course for your heat and I already told Aizawa that you need a full week off for that along with the common dates for the heat. I will see you next time. Goodbye, Agent Ginger," Agent Brooke said, packing up the laptop and notepad into the briefcase, and leaving the nurse's office.

Ginger laid on the cool tile floor, eventually struggling to push themselves up from the floor. They staggered somewhat as they got up, their eyes glossy with tears. They rubbed their eyes, shaking their head. Ginger grabbed their backpack and left the nurse's office, seeing that it was lunch now. 'Whatever. I need to keep myself in check, or I WILL injure myself more.'

Ginger walked into the cafeteria, trudging to the cafeteria counter and grabbing a tray, sitting at the closest empty table. They dropped their bag to the ground, shoving a mouthful of food into their mouth. Ginger heard a chair scrape the ground and looked up, spotting Kirishima, Sero, Kaminari, Mina, Jirou, and Bakugou. They sat around at the table and started talking to them.

"Hey, Ginger! Why'd you have to leave class early? Did you get in trouble?" Kaminari started shooting off questions, making Mina roll their eyes and reply to him. "I doubt it, they are one of the most well behaved out of everyone in our class. It was probably to discuss the foreign exchange program details." Everyone started theorizing about why Ginger was in the office with Nezu, except for Bakugou. He stared at Ginger, making them shift in their chair, awkwardly eating their food.

They haven't taken a look at their appearance and assumed they looked like shit if Bakugou was staring so intently. Ginger sighed, slamming their chopsticks down on the table. Everyone quieted down, looking at Ginger in shock. "I was talking to Nezu about the foreign exchange program. That's all. I need to go," Ginger stated, getting up from the table. They hadn't even finished their food and were placing the tray into the conveyor belt to be cleaned.

They exited the cafeteria and walked to a gender-neutral bathroom, glaring at anyone in their path. Like the Red Sea, everyone made way for the angry cat. They made it to their destination and swung the door open, slamming it closed, not bothering to lock it. Ginger threw their bag on the ground and looked at themselves in the mirror. They did look like shit. There were new fresh scratches on their neck and face from earlier and were bleeding somewhat.

Ginger growled at their image, their teeth baring. The dark circles under their eyes were even darker than this morning and they looked pale. The collar had brought out so much energy and made their feral quirk go haywire. What would it be like without the collar... They wondered if they could control every aspect of their quirk without needing supervision from a collar and an entire government. They sighed, and growled, banging their hands against the mirror. They grunted at the intense electricity shocking into their neck, making them crumble to the ground, holding their neck.

A knock sounded at the door as they tried to slow their breathing down, not succeeding. They growled, not bothering to address whoever knocked. The door opened slowly, revealing Bakugou, watching as Ginger writhed on the ground in pain. Bakugou watched with furrowed brows, not knowing how to help. He got down to the floor, grabbing Ginger's wrists, their claws scratching at his hands. He grunted in pain, picking them off the floor, and sitting them on his lap. They growled and gnashed their teeth, their sharp canines almost biting him. He flinched back to avoid getting bit, holding their wrists in his hands, and hugging them to his chest.

Ginger was not getting any better, growling and biting him, stomping their feet on the ground. "Shh... it's okay. I need you to calm down. Take deep breaths. Can you hear me?" Bakugou spoke, trying to break through Ginger's racing thoughts.

Pain. Pain. Too close. Cornered. No touch! Pain! PAIN! PAIN! FERAL! REJECT! MONSTER! Ginger yowled, pupils turning into slits, tears going down their face as they tried to get away. Bakugou's eyes widened, letting them go. They got on all fours, teeth baring, growling at Bakugou, heart racing. Bakugou could catch a glimpse of some screws on the back of the collar. "Kitty. Kitty, I need you to-" he started, being stopped when Ginger trampled Bakugou, teeth baring at his neck.

His eyes widened, pushing Ginger onto the bathroom floor, pinning down their arms and legs, making sure that they wouldn't get back up. Ginger growled and hissed at him, sharp claws digging into his hands. The electricity could be seen sparking from the collar. All Bakugou could do was watch, ruby-red eyes looking at them, trying to figure out what to do. He sighed, staying in that position. He could only wait for them to tire themselves out.

After 15 minutes of hissing, growling, crying, and thrashing, Ginger was panting, their energy depleted. Bakugou released their wrists, getting up from them. "Hey, are you okay...?" He asked, sitting on the floor next to them. Ginger blinked, their thoughts slow as they tried to regain all of their senses. "N... no. Not okay... I want this collar off... I want it gone... it's so painful..." They teared up, taking a deep breath and letting it out, staring at the ceiling. Bakugou nodded, sitting in silence, observing them.

The bell rang, making Ginger's ears perk. "Fuck... class..." They slowly got up, almost tumbling, growling to themselves. They got up again, leaning against the wall. "Hey, don't overexert yourself, damn cat," he said, aiding Ginger. He slipped their arm over his shoulder, grabbed their bag, and made his way to the nurse's office. "W-Wait, we're supposed to be going to class!" Ginger said, trying to pull away from him. He held them tighter, barking, "Don't even try! I'm bringing you to recovery girl! You have no chance of putting your all into the one-on-one sparring match that we're going to have today! Just shut up and let me take care of you!"

Ginger blushed a bit, looking down at the floor. They sighed, blinking away tears. They trudged to Recovery Girl's office, Ginger protesting every so often. "Shut up, stupid cat! We're almost there!" Bakugou barked, making Ginger's ears lay down against their head. Bakugou opened the door to the office, seeing the old lady sitting in her chair. "Oh, Bakugou. What happened this... time?" Recovery Girl started, seeing Ginger hanging from his shoulder. "They're suffering from overexertion. I don't know what this collar is capable of, but it seems it's related to heart rate. Can you fix them?" Bakugou tossed Ginger onto the bed, who huffed, glaring at him.

Recovery Girl hopped down from her rolly chair, wandering over. "You're the transfer student! I'm so excited to meet you! This old lady doesn't have much time outside of the office because of the hero course, you know. What is your name, sweetheart?" She asked, taking the stethoscope around her neck and putting it into her ears to listen to their heart rate. "Um, I'm-I'm Ginger..." They said timidly, their tail swaying back and forth slowly, touching the window from the bed. They did have a 5-foot tail after all.

"Ginger! What a lovely name! It seems you suffer from anxiety, yes? Having anxiety can increase your chances of having an anxiety attack, and therefore increase heart rate. I may need to refer you to a psychologist to be properly diagnosed. Have any parents that can authorize that?" She asked, sitting back in her rolly chair, hands on her knees. Ginger glanced towards Bakugou, picking at their hand pads that were very similar to paw pads.

Recovery Girl looked at Bakugou and said, "You're late for class, no? You should get going. Shoo, shoo!" She gestured her hands in a 'go away' motion. He huffed, staying where he was. Recovery Girl rolled her eyes and hopped down again, poking him with her syringe-looking cane. "Out!" She eventually pushed him out, closing the door behind him. Ginger was scratching their hands in anxiousness, light scratches appearing on their skin, appearing in red irritation. "Stop scratching yourself, dear. It's just little old me. I can just pull up your file if you're uncomfortable talking about it?" She asked, placing her small hands on Ginger's own. Ginger nodded silently, stuffing their hands into their blazer pockets.

She hopped back up into her rolly chair, clicking on her computer. They assumed she found them, based on the facial expression that came up. "Oh... they'll be hard to get through to, huh...?" She asked rhetorically, Ginger just nodding their head, sighing. "I-It's okay. I've been dealing with it for this long. Why not longer?" They mused, getting up from the bed. "Um, thank you for trying to help, though. I appreciate it," they smiled sadly at the old woman, exiting the office.

Recovery Girl watched as they left, a small frown on her face. Poor kid... having to be restrained just because of their quirk. She sighed in sadness, turning back to her computer to write up a brief report on the kids that have come in throughout the day.
