Panic gripped Jimin’s heart as Yuna’s small hands flew to her throat, her eyes wide and terrified. The sound of her choking filled the room, a terrifying noise that sent a cold wave of fear crashing over him.
“Yuna, no, no, no…” Jimin’s voice trembled as he rushed to her side, trying to stay calm even as his own fear threatened to consume him. He leaned her forward, lightly thumping her back, desperate to dislodge whatever was caught in her throat. But nothing seemed to work. Her little face was turning red, her eyes wild with panic as she struggled to breathe.
“Dad!” Jimin screamed, his voice cracking as tears welled in his eyes. “She’s choking, Dad! Yuna, my baby… my baby…”
Mr. Park was on his feet in an instant, his face pale as he watched his son frantically try to help Yuna. He reached out, but he too was paralyzed with fear, unsure of what to do. The sight of his granddaughter struggling for air sent a wave of helplessness crashing over him.
Jimin’s hands shook as he tried again to help Yuna, but her condition was worsening. Her small body was starting to weaken, and Jimin felt like his entire world was crumbling around him. He was moments away from falling apart when the front door suddenly burst open.
“Jimin?” Jungkook’s voice called out, alarmed by the panicked screams he heard as he stepped inside. The sight that greeted him was enough to make his blood run cold—Jimin kneeling beside Yuna, who was choking, her face turning a terrifying shade of blue.
“Kookie!” Jimin cried out, his voice high-pitched and full of terror. “Our baby… she’s choking… she’s choking…”
Jungkook didn’t waste a second. Dropping his bags to the floor, he rushed over, his heart pounding as he took Yuna from Jimin’s trembling hands. He quickly assessed the situation, his training and instincts kicking in.
With calm precision, Jungkook turned Yuna upside down, carefully supporting her body as he delivered firm, controlled back blows. “Come on, baby, breathe…” he murmured, his voice steady even as fear clawed at him. He could hear Jimin sobbing beside him, but he forced himself to focus, knowing that Yuna’s life depended on it.
Once. Twice. Thrice. On the third strike, there was a terrifyingly long moment of silence. Then, mercifully, Yuna gasped and coughed, the piece of food finally dislodging from her throat. It landed on the floor with a small, wet sound, and the little girl took in a deep, desperate breath.
The room seemed to freeze for a second before Yuna burst into tears, her small body shaking from the trauma. Jungkook felt his own tears begin to fall as he pulled her close, cradling her against his chest.
"Daddy," she sobbed, taking Jungkook aback. It was the first time she'd called him that.
“It’s okay, it’s okay, baby… I’ve got you,” Jungkook whispered, his voice thick with emotion. He gently rocked her, his hands rubbing soothing circles on her back. “Don’t cry, you’re safe now… Daddy’s got you.”
Jimin collapsed beside them, his hands trembling as he reached out to touch Yuna’s tear-streaked face. “My baby…” he choked out, tears streaming down his cheeks as he clung to Jungkook and Yuna. “Thank God… thank God…”
Jungkook shifted to wrap an arm around Jimin as well, pulling him close. He kissed the top of Jimin’s head, trying to calm both of them. “Everything’s okay now. She’s okay… You’re okay… We’re all okay…”
Mr. Park stood frozen, his heart pounding in his chest as he watched the scene unfold before him. His stern expression had crumbled into one of raw emotion as he realized just how wrong he had been about Jungkook. The sight of this young man, his arms wrapped protectively around his son and granddaughter, shattered every doubt and prejudice Mr. Park had held.
Jungkook wasn’t just a partner. He wasn’t just a boyfriend with tattoos and piercings. He was Jimin’s strength, Yuna’s protector, and the man who had just saved his granddaughter’s life. In that moment, Mr. Park saw him for who he truly was—a loving, caring, and capable man who would do anything to protect the people he loved.
And as he watched Jungkook continue to comfort Yuna and Jimin, holding them as if they were his entire world, Mr. Park felt a wave of shame wash over him. He had been so blinded by his own judgments that he had failed to see the truth that was right in front of him.
Taking a deep breath, Mr. Park slowly approached the trio on the floor. He knelt down beside them, his heart heavy but his resolve clear. “Jungkook…” he began, his voice thick with emotion.
Jungkook looked up, his eyes red and glistening with unshed tears. He seemed to register just then that Mr. Park was in the room with them.
“Thank you,” said Mr. Park, his voice cracking slightly. “Thank you for saving Yuna… And for taking care of my family.”
Jungkook blinked in surprise, his grip tightening slightly around Jimin and Yuna as if needing the reassurance that this was real. He nodded slowly, his own voice soft. “I’d do anything for them… They’re my family too.”
Mr. Park’s eyes softened as he looked at the young man holding his son and granddaughter. “I can see that now.”
Mr. Park met Jimin's gaze. His warm brown eyes seemed to convey a clear message.
"He's perfect for you...both of you."
Jimin’s breath hitched as he looked at his father, tears spilling over as relief and gratitude washed over him. He reached out to grasp his father’s hand, squeezing it tightly.
"Thank you, Dad… for seeing him the way I do," he whispered.
