Already Cursed - @fandm_writer

Adam Milligan nervously bounced on the balls of his feet as he stood outside his front door. He stared down at two unmarked numbered he had written in his phone, unsure if he would ever call them. The numbers belonged to Sam and Dean Winchester.

He hadn't meant to find them.

Adam hadn't seen his father in over five years, so he had decided to do some digging. He didn't find a trace of John Winchester. Instead he found two brothers, his brothers.

The concept both excited and terrified Adam. Because he desperately wanted to meet them, he was on only child and never really had friends. And to find out he had two other siblings...

However, at the same time, he felt childish for having such premature sentiments. What if they didn't want to meet him? What if they didn't care?

What if they didn't like him? What if?Adam shook his head and pocketed his phone. He opened the door and went inside, setting down his book-bag on the way in. "Hey mom, I'm home." Adam called as he made his way to the kitchen.

"Hey, dear." She called back, her voice happier than usual.

"How was school?""It was good. Aced my test." He answered, walking over to the fridge and peering inside.

"That's good." Her voice continued to echo from somewhere in the house. "Did you find anything about your father?" She inquired.

"Yeah. something like that. "Adam replied, furrowing his brow. "Wait, I thought you didn't want me looking for him?"

"Let's just say I've had a change of heart." She called, "Maybe we could call him together."

"Sure, if you want." Adam shrugged, aware she couldn't see him. Dinner wasn't made yet, so Adam crouched down and began to pull out the ingredients for a sandwich.

"Hey, can you come help me fix this lightbulb in my room." His mother called once again.

"Uhh...Sure." He replied, closing the fridge and dumping the ingredients on the counter. Just as he did, his phone rang. Adam pulled it out, look of confusion spreading across his features. It was his mother. "Hello?." Adan mumbled as he answered it.

"Hi hon, I'm at the store. Can you let me know how much milk we have?" Kate Milligan spoke.

Adam's blood ran cold. "This isn't funny." He breathed out.

"Calcium is an important part of a healthy diet, I wouldn't joke about it." She teased.

"Who is that?" The voice in the house questioned.

Adam moved the phone speaker away. "Uhh, it's just a friend from school." Adam answered, attempting to keep his voice steady. "I'll be there is just a second."

He put the phone back up to his ear, as his mom continued to speak."Listen, Mom, There someone in the house." Adam whispered, tensing when he heard a creek come from the hallway.

"I'm gonna go check, I need you to stay on the line and be ready to call the cops." He added quietly.

"Adam, no! Get out of there..." Kate began to say just as he set the phone down.

"Adam?" The voice sang his name. "Are you coming?"

"Adam."

A cold sweat broke out across his skin.Quickly and quietly, he grabbed one of the large chef knives and made his way through the kitchen. Adam's heart pounded in his chest as he rounded the corner and was faced with a dimly lit hallway.

At the end was his mothers room, the door was cracked halfway open and the light was off. Adam gripped the knife, attempting to keep his hands from shaking. He walked down the hall, watching the other doors that lined the walkway.

After what felt like an eternity, he reached the room. Adam was about to step inside, when the floor creaked beneath him. He froze, expecting someone or something to pounce.

He was met only with suffocating silence. Adam let out a shaky breathe, steeling himself.

Then, in one smooth motion, he flicked the light switch and spun around to check the space behind the door. Nothing. Adam stepped farther inside and looked around. The room was empty, the only sound being his own pounding heartbeat. He began to wonder if he'd imagined it, wonder if he had finally lost it.

Adam was about to leave the room when high pitched laughter echoed from somewhere else in the house. A fresh wave of adrenaline washed over him. Then without warning, the closet doors burst opened and something came charging out.

The creature moved like a blur as it decked Adam to the ground. He hits the floor hard, the thing on top of him."Hey, honey." The creature chimed, it's voice inhuman and duel-toned.

As it menaced above him, Adam finally got a good loot at it. It was sickly pale and gnarled, with white reflective eyes. The creature grinned, baring its rotting teeth, and prepared to attack. Through the terror and the shock, Adam registered that he needed to do something fast.

Out of sheer desperation, Adam slammed his forehead into the creature nose, producing a sickening crunch. The monster lurched back. As it did, Adam brought the knife around and plunged it into the thing's chest. He shoved it off and got to his feet, backing towards the door. Adam cursed under his breathe and stared in disbelief. Was this really happening?

Then, to his horror, the creature let out a guttural laugh and began to pull out the blade. "You dropped something." It rasped, giving him an amused look.

Adam turned to make a run for it, but came face to face with his mother. Or at least, something that looked like her. He'll never forget her face, she wore a twisted smirk and looked ready to rip into him. Then he felt the bite of a blade in his back and looked down to see the tip of the knife protruding through his stomach.

The knife was yanked free and Adam's knees buckled, he fell to the floor.Warm blood coated his shirt and his vision became fuzzy. As the creatures stood above him, the full weight of reality came crashing down.

He was going to die. He was never going to see his mother again, or finish school. He would never get to meet the brothers he hadn't known he had. This was it.

As his vision darkened, he couldn't help but hope that maybe there was someplace better. Somewhere he wouldn't hurt anymore. Maybe he could see his mother there, maybe he could see all his loved ones again. Maybe he could meet his brothers someday.

The pain dulled, and the world became distant

Maybe...

The ghoul calmly picked up Adams phone, adjusting to it's new form. Kate Milligan was still screaming for her boy on the other end.

Pathetic."It's okay." The creature spoke with it's new voice. "It was just a stray cat that got in the house." He assured.

Slowly, the Ghoul walked to a close by mirror, and found Adam Milligan staring back at him. It smiled, revealing blood-speared teeth.

"It's alright." It soothed.

"Will you be home soon, I'm hungry.
