Chapter 4
Rey, Temiri, Ben and Hux sat in the sitting room, along with Finn, the butler.
"It doesn't really look like a family lives here," Rey commented.
Hux looked around. "You're right."
"You don't even have any Christmas decorations," Rey said.
"Is that necessary?" Ben asked. Since he had been banished and forbidden to see his family, Christmas wasn't an easy time for him.
"Well what would your uncle think about you having a six year old son and not doing anything for Christmas?"
"Well... I guess you're right. But we don't have to go too overboard," Ben answered.
"Also," Rey went on, ignoring him. "You don't have any toys here at all. It doesn't exactly look like a child lives here."
Hux nodded. "Yes. It would really set the scene."
Ben put his head in his hands thinking they were all taking this too far.
Hux went over to Temiri. "Do you think you can remember to call Ben 'daddy'?"
Temiri nodded. "I think so." He looked at Ben. "Daddy."
Ben offered him a small smile in return. This was more like the kind of family he wanted. It wouldn't be too hard to pretend that he cared about the boy.

Soon Rey and the servants had the whole castle decked in holly, evergreen wreaths and ribbons. And a large beautiful tree stood in the center of the sitting room decorated with fruits, bells, ribbons, nuts and spice cookies.
Ben stood listening with his hand on his forehead in annoyance as Rey instructed his servants about where to put each decoration. He didn't like celebrating Christmas, it only made him miss his family more. Being alone just made the holidays a very depressing time of year.
They set up a room for Temiri with a small bed and toys scattered throughout. Temiri was surprised to see so many toys, he only had one stuffed bear and a few toys that Rey had made him from scraps of cloth or pieces of wood.
"Rey! Look at all of these toys!"
Rey smiled at him, glad to see that he was happy for once.
Ben looked at Rey wondering why her son had just called her by her first name. He wanted to ask, but didn't think that it would be a good idea in front of the boy.

Rey sat in front of a mirror while a group of servants fixed her hair. A maid named Kaydel held up two gowns for Rey to choose from, she selected a gold one.
Once she was dressed, she looked in the mirror. She looked like a princess, she'd never worn such a fine dress before.
Kaydel returned holding a wedding ring. She passed it to Rey.
Rey looked at it feeling a bit bad about the pretense. But she had to do this for her brother. Taking a deep breath, she slid the ring onto her finger.
Kaydel looked at a list of questions she was supposed to ask Rey to make sure that she remembered everything. "How long have you been married?"
"Seven years," Rey answered, remembering the amount they'd agreed upon. Which would be a year before Temiri was born, even though she would have to lie about her age for the story to make sense.
"Where did you get married?"
"At the cathedral," Rey answered.

Ben had all of his servants and guards lined up to make sure they all understood the plan.
"Does anyone have any questions?" Ben asked.
"We're not paid to have questions, your majesty," said Kaydel.
Ben nodded satisfied that they all understood.
Hux ran inside. "He's here! He's here! Places everyone!"
All of the servants hurried to their posts.
"Where's the girl and the kid?" Ben asked.
"Rey, Temiri, remember. They're getting ready."
Ben nodded, repeating their names in his head. Rey was a pretty easy name to remember, but Temiri took some getting used to. He just hoped that he didn't call him by the wrong name.
"Oh no! I forgot your ring," Hux said. He pulled a wedding ring from his pocket and tried to quickly put on Ben's finger.
"Ow!" Ben exclaimed as Hux tried to force the ring onto his finger. "That's the wrong finger." He pulled the ring off of his middle finger and moved it to his ring finger.
They both quickly attempted to act normal as Luke walked in.
"Dad," Hux exclaimed, hurrying over to hug his father.
"It's good to see you, son," Luke answered, hugging him back.
Luke released Hux and went over to Ben. He pulled him into a tight hug. "I missed you."
"I missed you too, Uncle Luke," Ben answered.
"Ah, your family," Luke said looking over Ben's shoulder.
Ben turned to see Rey walking down the steps holding Temiri's hand. Ben's mouth gaped slightly at the sight of her. She had always been beautiful, but wearing the gown he realized that she was even more beautiful than the heavens on starry night. He couldn't take his eyes off her.
Luke bowed and kissed Rey's hand. "I'm your husband's uncle, my son has spoken very highly of you."
Rey smiled at him. "Ben talks about you all the time." She glanced at Ben briefly. "He really misses you and his parents."
Luke nodded, then he turned to Temiri. "And who is this?"
"This is my... our son, Temiri," Rey answered. She sighed inwardly in relief that she had stopped herself from saying 'my brother.'
Luke knelt down in front of him. "Hey kid, I'm your great uncle, Luke."
"Hi Uncle Luke," Temiri answered.
Luke smiled and scrubbed his head affectionately. Then he stood and offered Rey his arm to escort her to the dining hall.
Rey smiled and wrapped her arm around his. She wasn't used to being escorted, but she thought that it would be impolite not to accept.
"You have a lovely home, it so warm and festive."
Rey nodded. "Thank you."
"I'm happy that you were able to tame Ben's rebellious spirit. His parents were worried sick about him, but I'm happy to see that he's changed."
Rey nodded, wondering what Ben had done to be banished by his family. But she didn't want to ask.
