Chapter 3

Ben was growing more annoyed as he was practicing with his "wife" and "son." She was preppy and snobbish, but also flirtatious in a way that made him very uncomfortable. He could easily guess what job she had before coming here. Her son wasn't much better, Ben could tell that she had a lot of money and had spoiled him almost rotten. It wasn't surprising that he was spoiled, the woman had told him that his father was a wealthy baron and that he liked buying gifts for him often. And despite himself he envied the little boy, his father gave him so much, spent so much time with him when he was a secret child he had with paid company. And Ben the prince had barely seen his father, even as a boy. Being king and queen of a vast kingdom had taken more of their time than Ben had understood as a boy.

"Hello darling, how was your day?" Ben asked, trying to act like he actually cared about her but it was hard to do.

"Good. How was your's?" she asked with that flirtatious smile.

"Good. What's for dinner?" he replied a little awkwardly, he wasn't at all used to talking to woman in this way. Mostly because he had been banished since he was a teenager and his sole focus had been on finding a way to get back home.

"How should I know? I'm not one of your servants."

Ben groaned in annoyance.

"No, no. You're his wife, you know what you're having for dinner," Hux said.

"You didn't say that I would have to cook!" she wined.

"I have servants," Ben reminded her.

"Try again!" Hux said, acting like a playwright.

"Hello, son," Ben said scrubbing the boy's head like his father used to do to him when he was a boy.

The boy swatted his hand away. "Can I get a real sword for Christmas, dad?"

Ben looked at the six year old boy. "You're too young."

"My father lets me have swords!"

"Remember you're not supposed to mention your father," Hux reminded him.

"Can I at least get my own coach?"

"You sound like a spoiled brat," said Hux.

"I'm playing as a prince's son, what do you expect?"

"I expect you to be a loving family, from the top," Hux answered.

Ben went over to Hux. He couldn't bare another minute of this, let alone a couple of days. "This is the family you found for me? Get them out of here," he said angrily.

"But Ben, my father is coming tomorrow!"

"I don't care, I can't bare another moment of this."

Hux went over to the woman. "I'm sorry, I guess you're not the type of family he's looking for. I thought that you did a good job."

Rey held Temiri's hand as she walked into the castle. She brought him into the kitchen where her friend, Rose was cooking.

"Rose, my brother isn't feeling well. Do you mind keeping an eye on him for a little while?"

"I don't mind," Rose said. "You can be my taste tester." She smiled at Temiri.

"Yay!" Temiri exclaimed.

"I'll see you in a little while," Rey said, hugging him.

"Bye...mum," he whispered.

"Bye," she said, hugging him again.

Rey went outside to work on the castle grounds once again.

When it was time for her lunch break, Rey made her way into the castle. Normally during her lunch break she would go to check on Temiri and bring him something to eat.

When she reached the kitchen, she found Rose searching in the pantry.

"Where's Temiri?" she asked.

"I went to serve the prince's lunch, when I came back he was gone," Rose said, panicked. "I'm sorry. I don't know where he went."

"It's not your fault. I'm sorry I had to leave him with you, I didn't have anyone else to turn to."

"It's okay. We'll find him," Rose said. "I was hoping that he was hiding in the pantry, but he's not there."

Rey nodded, then they split up to search the castle.

After searching several rooms, Rey saw him running into the sitting room. She hurried to follow him. Her heart froze as she saw Prince Ben standing in the room along with his cousin, Prince Hux. She would lose her job for sure for bringing her brother to work and then both of them barging in without knocking. Ben would be more forgiving, but Hux never hesitated to fire the staff for such irresponsible actions as this.

Rey quickly knelt. "Please forgive me your highnesses. Temiri isn't well, I had no choice but to bring him to work, he doesn't know any better he's just a child."

"I'm sorry your majesty, I was just looking for my mum."

"It's okay, kid," Prince Ben replied. He looked at Rey. "I didn't know that you had a son."

"He's..." Rey began.

"It's alright," Ben interrupted. "Please stand." He gently lifted her to her feet.

"Thank you your highness," she answered.

"Are you married?" Ben asked.

"No. Why?" she asked cautiously.

Hux circled her like a vulture. "Now that's a wife."

"Excuse me?" Rey asked, surprised by the comment.

"And that's a kid you wouldn't want to strangle," Hux gestured to Temiri.

Ben nodded.

"Well I have to get back to work," Rey said growing a bit uncomfortable. She grabbed Temiri's hand. "Pardon me your highnesses."

"Wait," Ben said. "We didn't mean for it to sound that way. I need your help. I need to pay someone to pretend to be my wife and son, and I haven't had much luck so far."

"I'm sorry, but we're not for rent, your highness. Excuse me." She turned towards the door.

"Please it's the only way I will get to see my family. I haven't seen them in many years."

Rey stopped, recognizing the pain in his voice. She understood how he felt, she would do almost anything to see her parents again. "I know how you feel."

"Then you'll help me?"

She looked at Temiri, with the money she could pay for a doctor for him. "How much money would you pay me?"

"Fifty pieces of gold. It would only be two days, I might also need you to come with me when I visit my parents, but I'll pay you extra in that case."

Rey nodded, that would be enough to pay a doctor and perhaps buy a place to live. "I'll take it. But first I need to talk to Temiri." She knelt down to his level. "Temiri, if we pretend to be his family for a little while, we'll have enough money to find a better place to live. Are you okay with it?"

He nodded.

Rey stood. "We'll do it."

Hux smiled. "I now pronounce you husband and wife."
