Chapter 23 - For Erza
Takeshi expected to be pierced with pain by now. W-What happened? He hesitantly opened one eye to take a peak at the scene. What he saw was never what he expected to happen. M-Mom!?! Lying in his lap on her stomach . . . was Erza. "N-No . . ." Takeshi's body shook as tears flowed like a river down his cheeks. His hands gripped Erza's white undershirt as she was not requipped in armor.
"Erza!" Natsu called, running towards the scene with Gajeel. Seems that Erza had left the two dragon slayers behind. "What the-" Natsu stopped dead in his tracks upon seeing the scarlet hair's current state. "Y-You've got to be kidding." Gajeel mumbled, looking at the scene as well.
"What an unexpected twist to this sad story." Kaage commented with fake concern.
Natsu snapped his head towards the beast, glaring. "I DON'T WANNA HEAR ANYTHING FROM YOU, YOU HEAR ME?" He shouted, veins popping out of his forehead. "This is all your fault!" Flames appeared around Natsu's fists, "You did this to our town . . . our home . . . our guild . . . our Master . ." Tears fell from the pink haired dragon slayer's eyes, ". . . my friend . ."
"I'm the bad guy?" Kaage raised an eyebrow, "You're the one playing the blame game."
"I'll never forgive you!" Natsu glared at the tiger in front of him, "YOU'LL PAY FOR WHAT YOU'VE DONE!"
"Is that so?" Kaage cocked his head to the side.
"Fire Dragon's . . ."
"Filthy slayer."
"Geez, you can't count, can you?"
Kaage whipped his head behind him to discover Gajeel there. "When did you get there?" Kaage growled in annoyance.
"None of your low-life business." Gajeel shrugged, "But there are two dragon slayers here. Get your facts straight."
"You little-"
"Iron Dragon's . . ."
"ROAR!" Natsu and Gajeel successfully completed their breath attacks, the iron and fire hitting the intended target. The combined attack caused an explosion making debris fly everywhere. Takeshi didn't move from his spot, clinging to his mother instead. Tarou, being left alone and still unconscious, flew back and almost fell off of the church. In the nick of time, Makarov grabbed the boy and placed him back on the roof of the church.
"Dragon Slayer's Secret Art: Flame Lotus Exploding Lightning Blade!"
"Dragon Slayer's Secret Art: Karma Demon Iron God Sword!"
Natsu and Gajeel threw attack after attack at Kaage out of pure sadness, frustration, and rage. That's when Jellal showed up at the scene. He, Simon, Yumi, and Riko stopped their movements.
"MOMMY!" Yumi was the first to break the thirty second silence, running over to her mother while crying her eyes out. Simon following right behind her, being the second to move.
Riko stood there, trembling in her skin. This isn't real! This can't be real! This can not be real! The teen collapsed to her weak knees, hurling over and placing her forehead on the roof beneath her. She gritted her teeth, holding back loud sobs that threatened to break free. Tears accumulated in her eyes and as soon as one slipped out, Riko broke down. She released those loud and vicious sobs that could probably be heard in another continent.
Next to Riko, stood her father. No . . . . no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no . . NO! Jellal stood completely still, every muscle and bone in his body was frozen. He didn't cry. Nothing in his body was functioning. He wasn't even breathing at the moment. It was like his body suddenly quit on him. I-I . . . . . I tried s-so hard . . . . I'm sorry . . . I broke my promise . . . After not breathing for a while, Jellal finally blacked out, hitting his head . . hard.
"This is for all the lives you took and all the tears shed!" Natsu shouted as he and Gajeel continued their assault.
"And this," Kaage mumbled, "is for me not giving a care in the world." Kaage jumped into the air, dodging the incoming attacks, and did a back flip before landing on the roof again. He held his arms out in an airplane form and spun around. As he spun a couple of times, two clouds of shadows appeared and turned into tornadoes, spiraling and successfully hitting the two dragon slayers.
"Regulus Impact!"
A beam of light hit each tornado and shattered it. "Are you guys alright?" Lucy asked, holding Loke's key. "Looks like you guys could use some help." Gray commented.
The group that had just arrived saw Erza. You couldn't help, but see it. It was pretty gruesome. And the traumatized family members near her didn't make it any better. Instead of all of them crying for the loss, the group decided to deal with the source and the cause of this unnecessary war. Then, they could all cry later.
"Solar Extinction!"
"Ice Make: Cannon!"
"Water Jigsaw!"
"Manly Attack!"
Another explosion went off at the next set of attacks. Kaage coughed as the debris flew through the air. "Enough screwin' around!" Natsu punched the ground out of anger, "Let's hit this guy with everything we've got!"
"Couldn't have said it better myself." Gajeel agreed, cracking his neck.
"If you insist." Kaage sighed, "Come."
Each member had a determined look on their faces. They all thought the same thing, they all hoped for the same thing, they all wanted the same thing. This was Fairy Tail, a guild where the members' thoughts and feelings become one. When one person smiles, they all smile. And when one person cries, they all cry. Like what will happen when this war is over. They will all cry. But right now, they must fight.
With a single thought, the members shout, "THIS IS FOR ERZA!"
