Chapter 30

*Lila's POV*

Ugh, Lila thought as she drove to the hospital. I leave him to himself for just one minute and he lands himself in the hospital. Why do these kinds of things always have to happen to me?

She reached the hospital and suddenly slammed on the breaks due to a person crossing the street to get to the parking lot. Lila hated hospitals.

She remembered her mother, landing in one almost every week. The doctors tried, they said that they would help her mother to get used to her new life without alcohol, without the drugs that were somehow always in her hands. The doctors lied. And her mother... she died of an overdose.

Lila shook the thoughts out of her head when she parked her car walking towards the hospital, flowers and a box of chocolates in her hands.

After asking the receptionist where Adrien's room was, she stood in the elevator and couldn't wait until she saw him. She looked at the room numbers on the walls until she finally reached him. He had a guest. It was his ex-wife. And...she was kissing him.

Wait...what? Are they...?

Lila couldn't help but stare in shock. The two finally stopped and looked at each other, love obvious in their eyes.

"Marinette," Adrien whispered. "I'm sorry that I was blind to the truth all these years, I should have realized that you would never-"

Marinette put a finger to his lips, "Adrien, we both made mistakes. But, that won't happen again. We know the truth now. And Adrien, I love you."

Lila's heart started beating faster when she heard those words. Please, no, don't say what I think you're going to say. Please don't. Reject her Adrien!

"Marinette, please say that you'll marry me again," Adrien said. "I know I that I don't have a ring, that this isn't formal or anything, but I know that I can't live without you, I know that-"

"I'll marry you," Marinette whispered. "Of course I'll marry the love of my life, why wouldn't I?"

Lila dropped the flowers and chocolates onto the floor and ran away crying. Her heart was broken so many times. And now... now the pieces were scattered far apart, for good.

*Marinette's POV*

Marinette heard a sound coming from the hallway, but ignored it, looking back at Adrien, her ex-husband turned fiance, with a smile.

Adrien tried to get up from the hospital bed, but Marinette pushed him back down with a glare. "Can't you wait for five minutes when they actually release you?"

"Nope," Adrien chirped back. "I want to get married right now."

Marinette facepalmed. "You must be high on whatever the doctors put on you," Adrien smirked. "Or maybe I'm high for you."

Marinette rolled her eyes. "Definitely high. You always start to act like an idiot when you're stupid."

"Or maybe seeing you again is numbing my brain," Adrien said. "Afterall, you are very intoxicating."

"Stop flirting so horribly," Marinette said with a slight smile. "Or else I'm going to have to divorce you again."

"That's nice," Adrien said as he picked up a box of chocolates from the table beside him. "You'll never divorce me again because I'm great at flirting."

Marinette rolled her eyes as she grabbed the box of chocolates out of his hands. "None of this for you," she said. "All these presents you got are for me because you scared me to death."

"Sure thing, M'Lady," Adrien said, with a slight bow which was quite weird considering he was in a hospital bed, but Marinette understood the gesture and smiled.

It's nice to be with him again... It's been so long...

Suddenly, out of nowhere,  the doctor opened the door to the room. "You're free to go, Mr. Agreste," The doctor said as she wrote something down on her clipboard. Just remember to sign yourself out."

"Yes, Doctor Lawrence," Adrien said, suddenly serious. What? But you were just fooling around a minute ago...Marinette thought. Wait... I remember now. He only reserved that side of him for me and the kids...

The doctor turned to Marinette. "He doesn't have to take any medication. But try to make sure that he stays out of dangerous or shocking situations."

"Will do," Marinette said with a slight smile. Once she made eye contact with Adrien, they both knew that they were thinking the same thing. Ladybug and Chat Noir would forever be the protectors of Paris, no matter what.

*Adrien's POV*

Adrien changed back into his clothes hurriedly as Marinette waited for him outside impatiently. "Come on, Adrien!" She said.

Adrien picked up the stack of chocolate boxes he got and walked towards the car. "Seriously?" Marinette asked. "You should have thrown it all away."

"Why can't I keep the chocolate?" Adrien pouted. "You're going to die from eating all that," Marinette said. "And plus, nobody in Paris wants to look at a fat Chat Noir."

Fat? Woman, I go to the gym almost every day. Well.... except for this past week... And the week before that...And the week before that...Yes, that's every day.

"Fat?" Adrien repeated. "I'm the slimmest kitty you'll ever see."

"Uh-huh," Marinette said as she started the car, motioning for Adrien to come inside. "Can't I just ride on the roof," He asked.

Annoying Marinette is so much fun... I missed this...He thought.

"Nope," Marinette replied. "You are either going to get in the car or you'll have to walk home." Adrien smiled. "I guess I have to walk then."

"Just get inside the car," Marinette said. "Is this how you're like with the kids?" Adrien asked.

"Adrien, I'm like this with you," Marinette said with a slight laugh.Wait...Did she just secretly roast me? Adrien thought. No. No. No. THAT'S MY JOB!

"And now you're probably thinking how roasting is your job," Marinette said as she started driving the car.

"How did you...?" Adrien began, but Marinette cut him off. "I'm the person that knows you the most, Adrien. And besides, I was married to you for quite some time."

"True," Adrien said. He suddenly noticed his surroundings. Wait...a minute...

"Marinette," Adrien questioned. "Where are we going?"

Marinette smiled. "To the place of our very first date, of course. The Eiffel Tower. It's time we got back together starting where it all began."

Starting where it all began... Adrien thought with a smile.

"Let's hurry up, My Lady!" Adrien said. "After this date, we're getting married!"

"Married!" Marinette exclaimed. "We haven't even prepared a wedding yet!"

"There's always tomorrow, Marinette," Adrien said with a wink. "Why do you want to get married again so fast?" Marinette asked. "Can't you just wait?"

"Because I love you, Marinette," Adrien replied with a smile. "More than anything."

"And I love you too-" Marinette's voice cut off for a second before she made a huge swerve with the car. "STOP DISTRACTING ME, GODAMMIT!"

I can't wait for things to be like this again, Adrien thought with a laugh. Marinette, it'll be great being with you again. Forever and ever...
