"Why don't you read something that is more mature?" Dad asked me as he made another right turn. "How about your new book that your mom and I got you for an early birthday present?"

"Harold!" Mom spat. "I told you - leave her alone!"

"It is okay, Mom," I spoke up, slowly closing my Goosebumps book and putting it besides my other ones. I laid back in my seat. "You mean 'The Hobbit,' don't you, Dad?" I finally answered him.

"Yes, Shelly," he responded.

"You know, in a couple of years, you are going to have to read that book in your English class," Mom added, turning towards me. "Why not get a head start?"

I crossed my arms over my chest, my eyebrows narrowed. I knew what they were doing.

I knew exactly what they were doing.

They were trying to make me feel guilty that I was reading a 'kiddie' book, and not something more of my age, such as 'The Hobbit' or 'Harry Potter.' Well, let me tell you all something.

Goosebumps is not a kiddie book!

For those of you who have read or are reading them, they are so scary. That is what I love about them! I have never read a spooky book, or any book for that matter, that kept me hooked and scared for my life. Goosebumps is and will always be my favorite series!

When anyone at school saw me reading a Goosebumps book, they would spat in my face and say to me that I was reading a 'baby' book. Only Chase and Carrots thought the series was actually interesting and cool. Who wouldn't? The monsters. The twisted endings.

I remember last year when this one boy teased me so bad, I cursed all of the Goosebumps monsters upon him. I wished that he was attacked and enslaved by all of them. I know. I was crazy doing that to him. I had just about enough with the teasing, and, when being part of the Fandom, it makes you do weird, but necessary things.

While we are on the topic of the Fandom making you do strange things, I have something that I need to get off of my chest.

"Harold! Watch out!" Mom screamed.

"Lauren, I am trying the best I can!" Dad yelled back.

I quickly sat up in my seat, breaking away from my thoughts.

"M-mom? D-dad?" I stammered, my whole body shaking. "What is go ---"

Then everything went black.
