Chapter 7
A couple days later, the storm had finally stopped. The streets were once again bustling with people, the taxis were running, and Kasey didn't have to dry every set of clothes that she owned after getting back from rehearsal.
It was biography day at Frozen, which meant the entire cast sat on the floor of their rehearsal hall with pens and papers, trying to decide what to put in the biographies.
Kasey was helping Emma with hers.
"What do I put?" Emma asked, holding the pen over her own form.
"Put your name, first, and then what role you play," Kasey instructed. "And then you're going to say what shows you've been in before. And since it's your Broadway debut, maybe say how excited you are to be on Broadway."
"I haven't been in any shows," Emma said worriedly.
"Then write that this is your theatrical debut. And maybe you can mention the people in your life that you want to thank."
Beside Kasey, Sebastian was writing his. The neatness of Sebastian's handwriting surprised Kasey.
"Your handwriting is actually prettier than mine," Kasey told him, glancing over at his work.
"That's not true," Sebastian protested. "My handwriting isn't that great."
"Well, for a guy, it is," Kasey admitted.
"Now, that may be true."
"What are you writing in yours?" Kaira Matthews, one of the ensemblists, asked.
"I just wrote the shows I've been in before, the usual thanks, and that I'm happy to be Hans. I said that I work at Petropolis with the puppies," Sebastian said. Kaira laughed.
"What about you, Kasey?"
"I haven't written mine yet, but I'm probably just going to say Hamilton, and then West End's Wicked, and my high school's Mary Poppins. I'm saying that I'm a Juilliard alumni, and I'm thanking my best friend."
"Alright, thanks," Kaira said gratefully.
Emma showed Kasey what she'd written. Kasey read over it- it was better than a lot of adults could have done. It was short, to the point, and sweet.
"Good job, Emma," Kasey said. "It's really good."
"Alright people, hurry up!" Gary shouted. "I don't want to spend all day on these biographies! We have our previous Off-Broadway in a couple months and I want to start working on blocking and choreography as soon as possible!"
Kasey stood up and turned her biography into the bin.
"Today we're going to be blocking the first four songs, which are: 'Frozen Heart', 'Do You Wanna Build a Snowman', 'More than Just the Spare', and 'Conceal, Don't Feel.' Those of you not in any of these songs are going to be doing music rehearsal for 'Coronation Day' with Kristen, Robert, Ryan, and Christophe."
"In one month, we'll begin rehearsing with the orchestra. Our off-Broadway run is going to be in January, and then our Broadway run is in September," Gary continued. "It's a short turnaround. There is no time for goofing off."

Sure enough, they rehearsed. And rehearsed. And rehearsed. At about nine o'clock at night, after six hours, they not only blocked the first four songs, but the first act.
Kasey was tired. Six hours was a lot of rehearsal, even though she was used to Hamilton's intensive dance and music rehearsals.
Frozen was a different beast altogether. Being a leading actor meant that there was some downtime, but then when she was onstage, insanity struck.
Some stretches in the musical meant that Kasey would be sprinting from one side of the stage to the other, while Jess was onstage. She had to do some quick-changes and then be prepared to sing a majority of the songs.
It was a lot of work.
While Hamilton featured the ensemblists nearly every song, Frozen was a lot crazier for the leading actors than the ensemble.
Kasey had to admit that being a leading actor was fun. In a different way.
Kasey packed up her script and her dance shoes and walked back to the apartment. It was extremely dark outside, and the city bustle had died down a little bit.
When Kasey finally reached the loft, Carleigh was sitting on the couch waiting.
"I thought your rehearsal wasn't supposed to go this late," Carleigh said after Kasey put her bag down.
"It wasn't, but Gary insisted on blocking all of act one. I don't even remember most of it because we went through it so quickly," Kasey admitted.
"That's ridiculous. Even Lin didn't have us block all of act one. He did, like, three songs at once," Carleigh said sympathetically.
"I know. We were originally just supposed to do the first four, but then we just kept going. I felt bad for the little girls, because they seemed tired. He wouldn't even let them leave, 'in case we went back to the beginning.'" Kasey said, making air quotes.
"That sucks, I'm sorry, Kasey."
"It was kind of fun, though. At least I know what the show's going to look like... kind of."
