Meet Me There
Sapnap looks at where Dream and George set their camp up. Twilight had settled, but Sapnap felt unsteady at the thought of sleeping so close to the two. He stayed up late counting each option. Best case scenario, he could get away scott free; worst case scenario, Dream and George catching him. Sapnap was asleep by midnight. Unfortunately, he woke up early in the morning.
He instinctively looked over to the Avatar's camp. Dream and George were practicing making tidal waves by the river. Dream was getting the hang of it with ease, and George seemed happy to have a student progressing fast. Sapnap thought it over. There was no point in camping so close to the duo... Dream must've already mastered firebending and airbending if he was already training with water. There was no point... in what? It's not like he planned to join the duo... right? He listened to Dream and George speak.
"Good job, Dream. Here, take a quick break, and we'll go further."
Dream sat down and waded in the water, "Say, George."
"Hmm?"
"What in the name of spirits are we going to do about mastering air and fire?"
George frowned, "I haven't gotten that far in the plan. The best we can do is master water, and hope we come across a friendly firebender. We can't do anything about airbending since-"
"The airbenders are extinct." Dream finish.
"...Yes." George responded with a pause, "Let's work on water whip, alright?"
Dream smiled and stood up. Sapnap thought long and hard. He only had a week's supply left, and the next community would be miles away. Dream and George needed a firebending master, and Sapnap considered himself friendly now.
Sapnap walked a bit away from his camp to think of what he'd say. "Maybe... Hello, Dream and George. I was passing through- might I mention I'm no longer working with the Fire Nation before pulling the Avatar-state on me- and overheard that you need a firebending teacher. Well, I am considered a good firebender in the Fire Nation. What I'm asking is-"
"Let me join you and teach Avatar Dream firebending, please." Sapnap asked the benders.
Dream stared at the firebender in utter shock. He seemed unable to change his expression.
George glared daggers. "How do we know this isn't a trick?"
"I promise it isn't. And I never break a promise."
Dream spoke, "Alright. We need you as a teacher. You will sleep in your own camp, deal?"
"Deal!" Sapnap smiled and bowed, "Thank you, Dream. I won't let you down."
Dream smiled softly, "I know you won't. I trust your firebending skills, but I don't trust your character, yet."
