Chapter 9

When the two entered the guild hall, Rin and Lucy were surrounded by some of their guild mates.

"How was your first mission?" Mira asked.

"It went great!" Rin said, smiling. She decided not to tell the guild about what had happened, or, not until she knew what had happened herself. "I'm going to the library, I want to look for something." She said.

"I'm right behind you!" Lucy said.

Rin smiled and the two walked down to the library. She headed towards the bookshelf where she found the book earlier, relived to see that it wasn't moved from it's space. She took it out and set it on the table. She looked at the cover. "Let's hope this has some answers." She muttered to herself.

"I've never seen that book around here before." Lucy said, looking at the book with curiosity in her eyes. "How did you find it?"

"Well, it sort of fell on me when I made a mistake on a spell." She said, blushing a bit. She opened the book without another word and flipped through the pages. She was nearing the end of the book when she stopped and stared at a picture on a page. The picture was an exact replica of her. The facial structure, the body structure, the hair, everything. The only difference between her and the picture was the outfit, and the guild mark Rin had on her collar bone.

"L-Lucy... I think I found something." She said.

Lucy walked over to her and looked at the picture, gasping, "Rin, that's you!" She exclaimed.

Rin shook her head, "N-No, it can't be." She said. "This is a book on History! There is no way I'm in it!" She said.

"Wait, there's a passage!" Lucy pointed out, then she stated to read it.

"The largest part of the forgotten history was the birth of the demons of elements." She started. "The queens of Shadows and Light thought that to give equality among non magic users and magic users, would be to give magic to the humans who had none of it. It is rumored that the queen of light knew that this would corrupt their subjects, and tried to stop the queen of shadows, but from what I've seen, she was unsuccessful. After a couple of years, the humans who had magic bestowed upon them started to become corrupted, their skin turned different colors, water wizards turned blue, earth turned green, fire turned a mixture of red and black, and so on. The queen of light tried to heal them, but to no avail, and soon, all the humans turned to demons. After years of shadows, the queens casted one last spell, but this spell just made them even more corrupted. Though soon, the demons went into a slumber, and word spread that the queens had passed away, and we lived in a world of light once again."

Lucy finished and looked at Rin.

Rin was shaking a bit, she didn't remember this, but that picture exactly looked like her, and that man called her the Light Queen.

"I-I'm going to go on a walk, I need to get my head around this." She muttered.

"Be safe." Lucy said.

Rin just nodded and walked out of the library, past Team Natsu, past her guild mates, and finally out of the guild hall. She started to walk around the town, looking around.

I-I can't be the queen. She thought, That must of been a thousand years ago. She sighed and looked up, stopping in her tracks when she saw someone standing right in front of her. It was the man in a cloak she saw while in Lav village. She took a step back and turned to run away, when she suddenly felt her eyes droop. Just before she passed out, she watched some light leak out of her hand and make it's way towards the guild hall, she felt the man drape her over his shoulder and she watched as the world turned black.

~Lucy's POV, 3rd person~
Lucy was reading the passage agin, her eyes clouded with thought. After a while, she sighed and got up, walking out into the guild hall and over towards the team.

"Hey Luc." Natsu said, looking at her.

"What happened with Rin?" Gray asked. "She seemed out of it when she walked past us. She didn't even respond when Natsu called out to her."

Lucy looked at them, "Well, we found out something... Shocking." She said. Then she went on to explain what she read in the book.

"No way, so you think Rin is actually the Light Queen?" Natsu asked.

"That would make sense, the way she acted when that creature turned to light." Erza said, her eyes closed thoughtfully. "We should talk to her."

"She went out on a walk." Lucy said, "She said she needed time to think about all this." She said.

"Then let's go find her!" Natsu exclaimed, standing up, smiling. Then he looked to the ground and his eyes looked like they were following something.

The other's looked down at the ground too.

"Woah! What's that?" Happy asked.

A light trailed on to the table, and it started to spell out the phrase 'Help me.'

"This looks like Rin's light." Erza said. "Looks like someone thinks that she's the queen too."

"Well, if a guild mate needs help, why don't we go save her?" Natsu said. "I can still smell her scent, follow me."

Everyone nodded and then followed the Dragon slayer.
