Chapter 6
When they arrived at the guild hall, Rin received few stares, but thankfully she didn't attract to much attention to herself as she had yesterday. She followed Erza to a library, and she looked around, her eyes widening as she saw all the books around her.
"We're going to start by learning light magic spells." Erza said. Grabbing a couple of books from the shelves. "I assume you know how to read." Handing the books to Rin.
Rin just nodded and took the books, sitting down at the table in the middle.
Suddenly there was a crash, and Erza and Lucy sweat dropped, "Why don't you start on those books while we sort things out up there." Erza said.
Rin nodded and opened up the beginner's book, reading through it. After a while, she closed the book, having finished it. It was a thin book, really only fifty pages, so it was an easy read.
"So it says I should concentrate on my hands." Rin muttered to herself. "And move my magic energy towards them." She took a deep breath and closed her eyes. She felt her hands start to warm up, and she opened her eyes, looking shocked at the ball of light she held in her hand. She concentrated more and attempted to make it bigger quickly, watching at it imploded and then sent her back into the bookshelf, where the books fell and she was now sitting in a pile of books.
"That didn't work." She muttered, closing her eyes as a book fell open on her head. She took it off her head and looked at it. "Hm, The Forgotten History of Fiore." She read out. It was an interesting title. How can there be forgotten history, and if there was a book about it, then it wasn't exactly forgotten. She just shook her head and started to put the books away, hopefully in the right places.
After she finished with that, she walked back to the table, opening the book and rereading the first part. "Don't try to expand it to fast if you're a beginner, it will only get smaller and implode." She read out.
Rin rested her head against the table, this is harder than I thought it would be. She thought to herself. She lifted her head and closed her eyes again, feeling her hands grow warm and opening her eyes, seeing the ball of light like before. She took a deep breath and released more magic slowly, narrowing her eyes and slowly pouring more power into the ball, watching as it slowly started to grow, until it was the size of her head.
She smiled, she managed to successfully make a ball of light. But how do I get rid of it? She thought, sweat dropping. Then an idea popped to her head, and she threw the ball up into the air, releasing her energy and watching as the ball exploded and small sparkles started to fall down from the ceiling.
Rin put her hand out and watched as a sparkle landed on it. She smiled, and she heard someone enter the library.
"Wow, what's with all the sparkles?" Natsu asked, looking around.
Rin looked over, "I made them!" She said.
"Good job." Erza said, walking in behind Natsu. "I was wondering if you wanted to come with us on a job."
"A job?" Rin asked, tilting her head a bit.
"A job is when people request help with something. The wizard guild are in charge of taking the job and doing as it requests, and there's usually a reward."
Natsu showed her a piece of paper, the picture on it had a ginormous fire demon, while the description talked about beating the demon to death or something.
Rin stared at the picture, for some reason, the demon there looked familiar, like she had seen it before somewhere. But, she couldn't place where. she just shook her head and looked at the two, "Sure, I'll go along." She said.
Natsu grabbed onto Rin's hand, "Awesome!" He said, dragging her out of the library and out into the guild hall, towards the group that had brought her here. "Hey guys! Guess who's coming with us?" He said.
"Rin, I'm so clad you're coming along!" Lucy said.
"Aye!" Happy agreed. "This will be fun!"
"I'm glad to be coming along." Rin said quietly, a bit more timid with all the people around.
"Let's get going then!" Gray said.
Everyone nodded, and Rin followed the group to the train station.
"Where is this job?" Rin asked.
"It's in a place called Lav village." Lucy said.
Rin nodded, and followed the team into a cabin, where they all sat down. Once the train started, Rin watched as Natsu turned a greenish color.
"I don't think this monster will be easy to beat." Rin said.
"How so, it's just a fire monster. One hit of my ice attacks will put it down." Gray said, smiling.
Rin looked over at him, "I don't think it will be that simple." She looked at the picture, "This looks like a demon." She whispered. The creature did look a bit like a monster, but there was something up with it, it seemed too... Hostile. Sure monsters were hostile but the picture depicted the creature as something worse, pitch black eyes, made of only lava, not to mention it was so familiar to her. "Though maybe the picture is exaggerating a bit." She said, "And I may just be overreacting."
"Don't worry, you're with the strongest wizards in Fairytail, you'll be fine!" Lucy said.
"Well, three of the strongest wizards at least." Happy muttered to Rin, causing her to giggle a bit.
"Why don't you shut up cat!" Lucy exclaimed.
Soon, the train stopped and the team got out, they would have to ride a carriage to the village, since it was a small village at the bottom of a volcano.
Erza managed to get a carriage, scaring the driver half to death while doing so, and the team was on their way to the village, all ready to fight this creature, though the closer they got, the more unnerved Rin got.
