Chapter 7: Don't look back (Arc 1)
Gabby's POV
Alex and I kept running nonstop, which was easy thanks to our new forms. We ran through the thick forest that was nearby the village. After a while we stopped at a river to catch our breath. I looked at Alex.
"Are you okay?" I asked through our psychic connection.
"Yeah, my stomach just hurts a bit. Envy got it pretty good. What about you, you look worse than me." Alex said. My scratches from Monokuma still showed in my wolf form through my black form. One at my right hind leg was evening bleeding, a trail of blood dripping down it. The other scratches just ached and itched, they weren't that bad.
"I'm fine. Just a few scratches." I said. Alex didn't seem convinced, so I gave a happy bark and wagged my tail to cover up my stress.
"This stinks. We were just great friends with some of our favorite anime characters, and now we lost them." Alex said, laying down.
"Uh, we weren't exactly great friends." I mumbled. Alex whimpered, her ears drooping. I walked over to her side and nuzzled her face.
"Hey its okay though, we still have each other. It'll be just fine!" I said. Alex didn't remove that depressed expression from her fox face. I yipped and wagged my tail.
"Come on. Your the positive one right? You should always think positive!" I chimed. Alex smiled and looked up at me, ears perking up.
"Yeah, your right. I shouldn't be down. Maybe this, wasn't meant to be right?" she said. I thought that was actually a bad way to think of it, but......
"Uh yeah. Yeah maybe that's it." I quickly said. I winced at my injured leg. Alex gave me a concerned look.
"Gabby? Are you really okay?" she asked. I nodded.
"I'm fine." I said, my voice a bit strained. We yelped when we heard a crash and looked up. The sky was cloudy.
"Dammit, I think its gonna rain and thunder." I said.
"Lets go find a cave or something. Quick!" Alex said. With that we took off again, in search of shelter.
Author's POV
Meanwhile, the others were having no luck finding anything on the twins. Not even a clue.
"Damn, how did they disappear like that?" Ulric said.
"I haven't the slightest clue where they are, but I'm almost certain that they won't come back unless we bring them back." Izaya said. Ryuga glared at Crona.
"Crona! Aren't you a mister?! Can't you sense their souls?!" he snapped. Crona flinched.
"I'm trying, I'm trying! I'm not a master you know! And I don't work well under stress!" Crona stated.
"Well deal with it! We need to find them!" Ryuga snapped louder.
"I can't! I don't know how to deal with this!" Crona stated. Ryuga snarled and Crona gulped.
"Ryuga, yelling isn't going to help." Izaya stated with a frown.
"Shut up!" Ryuga snapped.
"He's right dragon boy. That will only make things worse." said a voice. Magane hopped down from a nearby tree.
"Yipe! H-How did you find us?" Crona stuttered.
"I've been following you ever since you left." Magane said.
"Okay whatever, I have a question for you. How did you know those two we're Demon Hounds?" Ulric asked. Magane giggled.
"If you want me to be honest, it was literally a guess based on what has been happening." she said.
"Get lost, we don't need or want a lying bitch like you." Ryuga said.
"No way, I wanna help!" Magane chimed.
"And why is that miss?" Izaya asked.
"Because, this is the most entertaining thing I've watched in years! I just wanna see what happens when you find them. So if I help, that'll get the drama rolling even quicker." Magane said.
"No, I don't want to waste my time on you." Ryuga said.
"Oh? Now how rude is that? Turning down my help from the bottom of my heart?" Magane said with a fake frown.
"Must be way down there then." Ulric mumbled.
"Leave her, lets go." Ryuga said, walking away. Ulric and Izaya started to follow.
"Wait a minute." Crona said. Ryuga glared at him. Crona flinched but continued.
"W-Wouldn't it be easier to have help from her? I mean that's one more person searching for the twins right? Less ground to cover." Crona said. Magne beamed and wrapped her arms around his neck from behind, causing him to tense up.
"Ahhh see? This guy gets me. Come on, let me help. Or are you gonna be a baby lizard instead of a dragon?" Magane said. Ryuga growled.
"They have a point." Izaya said.
"Oh great your on their side!" Ryuga snapped. Izaya shrugged.
"I'm on no one's side. Like miss Chikujoin here, I'm after entertainment." he replied. Ryuga glared at Ulric.
"I don't care as long as we find them and get back. I'm starving." Ulric stated annoyed. Ryuga sighed.
"Fine, she can help. But as soon as we find them she goes." he said. Magane pulled away from Ryuga and saluted.
"Yes sir." she giggled. Magane giggled a bit more.
"Then I guess I should mention I found a small blood trail over there. One of them was injured right?" she said, pointing to about ten feet away from her. And sure enough, there was a blood trail.
"What?! Why didn't you just say so?!" Ryuga snapped. Magane laughed.
"Don't hate me dragon boy, you said you didn't want me to help before. But now its official right?" she said. Ryuga sighed in annoyance.
"Lets go!" he said. With that the group followed the blood trail, off again to find Alex and Gabby.
Gabby's POV
Alex and I panted heavily as we made it to a cave. It was hidden underneath a giant tree that must've fallen over some time ago. We went inside and layed down. I shivered.
"Damn I hate the cold." I muttered. Alex smiled.
"I can fix that." she barked happily. There was a large pile of wood in front of us. Alex used fire breath to make a small campfire. I perked up.
"You have fire powers?!" I said.
"I know right? What do you have?" she asked. I used ice breath on the ceiling. The ice sparkled and it hit the fire's heat. Alex beamed.
"Oooh! Sparkly!" she said. A drop of water hit my head.
"Really? Great, now we'll get wet." I muttered.
"Think positive! You have ice powers!" Alex said. I huckled in my head. She's herself again. Good. I looked outside, seeing the hard rain pouring and the lightning light up the sky. Alex looked at me.
"So, what will we do in the morning?" she asked. I looked her dead in the eye and she flinched.
"We keep running, and we don't look back." I stated.
"Never?" Alex said.
"Never." I barked, growling a little at the end so she knew I meant it. With that we stayed there in that cave, watching the storm.
