"Blah blah blah. Serena, quite frankly, I don't care whether it's dangerous. You'll trust me to fight a demon, but not play an unknown sport," Alyssa complained while finishing her pushups in the training room. "I told you, your asthma might act up," Serena explained exasperated.
The argument only ended when they both agreed that they should have Madam Pomphrey at every practice and game. They showered and changed, then headed back to the common room. As they passed a statue of a hunch backed lady, someone called to them.
They turned around and saw Professor McGonagall. Alyssa stopped to let her catch up. "Dumbledore wants to see you both in his office," the professor puffed.
She started to nod, then stopped. "How do you get to Dumbledore's office?" The young dragon slayer asked, turning slightly pink. Professor McGonagall sighed and gestured for them to follow her.
An odd group they were, but it didn't matter. The group walked at a speedy pace until they reached an old Griffin statue. Alyssa stared at it confused. Why were they here?
Professor McGonagall must have seen her confusion because she began to explain. "I don't know quite why, but Professor Dumbledore has requested for you to see him in his office," she said.
She quickly said something that Alyssa didn't catch, and a set of moving stairs appeared. Her eyes widened in surprise. In Fiore, they didn't have anything like that.
Before she could think more into how that worked, Professor McGonagall ushered them onto the stairs. Alyssa started to climb, but McGonagall stopped her. Suddenly, the stairs started to move up, fascinating her further.
They eventually reached the top, and stepped off. The professor knocked on a large, old mahogany door once, and behind it a voice called out, "You may enter." Silently the door opened, and Alyssa entered, squeezing Serena a bit out of nervousness.
Professor McGonagall left and the two were alone, from what she could see. She blinked and suddenly Dumbledore was there. Her jaw dropped. How had he done that? He chuckled and gently closed her mouth.
"Let's get down to business," he said. "I know that you are from a place called Fiore. You Alyssa, are a dragon slayer, and you Serena are an exceed. After finding out about Fiore and your special case, I researched a bit about the two of you, and I discovered some interesting facts." Dumbledore seemed calm, which was the total opposite of Alyssa and Serena. Did he know about the accident?
He didn't seem to notice the panic radiating off of them, and continued. "Apparently exceeds can transform to a human form. But this only lasts for as long as they have magical power, and it takes a while to master. I can help Serena learn to transform into a human form, but you wouldn't be able to see each other for a while."
Alyssa's eyes widened. Not see each other? What if Serena got hurt, or homesick or had a nightmare? She was about to say no, when something happened that she didn't expect.
Serena agreed.

An hour later, Alyssa left sadly. She wouldn't see her exceed for a week. This was a big difference. Nothing had ever separated them that long.
She sighed. It would be lonely without her partner. Things like this make you wish that you had spent more time with someone.
Suddenly she stopped. In the distance she heard footsteps, and they were approaching fast. Right as she rounded the corner, the footsteps reached her, and they all collided.
Alyssa rubbed her head to rid it of the full ache, and looked up, ready to beat someone up. Since Serena agreed to stay, she had felt a bit more violent.
Surprisingly, when she looked up she saw Fred and George. All her anger vanished and what was left was sadness over her partner.
"Sorry," they both said cheerfully with a mischievous look in their eyes. That's when she heard the sound of an angry Filch in the far distance. She smiled slightly. Alyssa and Serena had never liked Filch ever since he called Serena an "ugly blue monstrosity."
Just the thought of Serena made her tear up. The twins noticed and started to panicked.
"We're sorry!" Fred started
"We didn't mean to!"
"Please don't cry!" They finished their statement in unison. It reminded her of the times that she and Serena were in synch. That made her burst into tears, causing the twins to panic further. Not knowing what to do, they wrapped her into a giant bear hug and subtly brought the group into a secret passage to hide.
Soon she calmed down. "I'm sorry. I don't know what came over me," she apologized. "I just really miss Serena." Her voice cracked at the end.
The twins soothed her, and helped her stand up. "What happened to her?" George asked? That's one of the only time I've heard them speak separately, she noted. "Dumbledore was worried that Serena would distract me from school, and cause me more stress when having to take care of her, so she was sent to live with my mom until summer break," Alyssa said, keeping up the lie that she and Dumbledore had created.
Instead of saying anything more, they simply comforted her and brought her to a painting of a bowl of fruit. Fred reached up and tickled the pair. There wasn't even time for her to think about his stupidity before the painting swung open to reveal a large room filled with strange adorable creatures rushing around.
George stopped one and kindly asked for a large tub of "vanilla ice cream." She stared at him puzzled. "What's ice cream?" She asked. He nearly choked on air. "You don't know what ice cream is?!?!" He exclaimed. Her cheeks burned red. Once he stopped overreacting, he "calmly" told her that it was a delicious dessert.
The little creature, which Fred told her was called a house elf, brought them her ice cream. She thanked it, and the twins handed her a spoon which they had somehow managed to get without her noticing. Cautiously, she scooped a bit out and licked it. The most delicious taste entered her mouth, causing her eyes to widen and her to devour the rest within minutes.
Fred and George laughed at her and she pouted. "Its not my fault its the best thing in the world," she grumbled. When they finally calmed down, they told her to go back to the dorms. "But I want more ice cream!" She protested. "Its not good to eat too much," George told her. She sulked and glared half heatedly at him.
The three of them left together and headed back to the common room. She had to admit, she felt much better now that the twins had cheered her up. Although there was one specific twin that seemed to make her happier....
Alyssa went upstairs and flopped onto the bed, as she tended to do. Her thoughts started to emerge to the front of her mind, and she thought about how she found Serena.
It was four years ago, on a bright sunny day. Kids were playing, adults were laughing. Everyone was happy. That is, everyone but her.
The little seven year old was wandering in a forest, with tears dripping down her face. "Rivaria?" She called out. "Where are you?" Her little heart was broken. The dragon that had fostered her had left mysteriously, leaving her all alone in the cave.
She was so wrapped in her thoughts that she didn't notice the egg, and tripped over it. "What's this?" She wondered aloud. Out of curiosity the young Alyssa kept the egg and took care of it.
It was a week later when it finally hatched. From what she could remember, she was sitting in a cave, hugging the egg to keep it warm when it cracked. She panicked, worried that she had accidentally broken it. Desperately she ran around, trying to think of ways to "fix" it.
Then the top of the egg broke off, and a little sapphire blue head popped out. A sigh of relief came out of the young girl, happy that the egg was okay. She peeked inside the egg, and delicately helped the neko out of the shell. "Who are you?" It asked. Her heart absolutely melted at the cats tiny voice.
"I'm Alyssa, your new sister."
She was pulled out of her thoughts by a furious Hermione.
"Alyssa! Where were you?? I was so worried, are you okay?" Hermione started rambling on. Quickly, she shushed her. "I'm sorry Mione, Dumbledore wanted to talk to me about Serena." Her eyes started to water again, and Hermione understood. Surprisingly, Hermione was very good at comforting.
They sat there for a while, and then she spoke up. "We should go to sleep." Alyssa agreed and they both parted to their own bed. Slowly, she drifted off to sleep where her reoccurring nightmares of Rivaria started again.

Hello hatchlings! I'm back! I'm sorry that I haven't updated in forever. That's my fault. I planned on updating right after the previous chapter and then on my birthday (the nineteenth of January) but as you can see, that plan failed. I'm sorry. But I hope you like this chapter!
