Chapter 11 - Changes

Alyssa woke up and yawned. She glanced around and saw herself still in that room from the day before. Although something seemed different.

Then it hit her. Everything was so enhanced. She could see so many details that weren't visible before, and so many new sounds echoed in her head, including the sound of rushing water.

An image of the river they sailed on the first day popped into her head. I need to visit there some time, she noted offhandedly.

She got out of bed and picked up her wand. "I'm gonna go eat breakfast," she thought aloud, even though she knew she was alone.

Alyssa opened the door and strolled out. The halls were empty, not a person to be seen.

This is odd, she thought. But she simply shrugged it off and walked on. She reached the Great Hall and opened the door. Sure enough, everyone was there. Her eyes light up, then quickly dimmed down. Something was different about everyone.

Alyssa gazed around. All of her senses seemed to be more heightened than before, but that wasn't it. I wish Serena could help me...

She shrugged off all thoughts about Serena and the changes. If they were that important, then the answer would come eventually.

She strolled down to the Gryffindor table and sat next to Hermione and the twins. They appeared to be arguing about something. "Hey," she casually greeted them. Hermione just replied in an aggravated tone, "Hush Lyssa, I'm trying to talk." The twins however, had a totally different reaction. Their eyes widened in sync (as always) and they grinned hugely. "ALYSSA!" They chorused together. This seemed to make Hermione realize who had spoken. All three of them tackled her into a big bear hug, which was joined in soon by almost all of the Gryffindor table.

Her eyes blinked in confusion. Half the people in the hug had never even talked to her, and now they were supposedly happy about her healthy state. But she smiled and just accepted it. After all, there was no point in wondering about it.

She untangled herself from everyone. "Mione, what happened. Why was I in the hospital wing?" Alyssa asked, confused. Hermione winced. "You did take a big hit, I suppose you wouldn't remember."

She took a deep breath before explaining. "It started in Charms, remember? When Ron became upset about the spell, he insulted me. I was hurt, so I ran to the bathroom to calm myself-"

Alyssa listened in rapt attention, astounded that she had even forgotten.

"-then it knocked you out with its giant wooden club. But then Harry and Ron showed up, but I was too terrified to move, given what it had done to you. So they used Wingardium Leviosa to drop the club on the trolls head and it passed out. Then the teachers showed up, awarded you 20 points then Ron and Harry each 10 points, but since they thought it was my fault, they took 10 points from me." Hermione took a deep breath afterwards.

Alyssa frowned. It wasn't fair that she was rewarded more than everyone else. All that she did was get knocked out. But there was nothing she could do, so she simply shrugged and began to pile food on her plate.

The rest of the meal was spent with laughter and tales of humor told with extravagance. Fred and George were quite experienced in adventures, and it made for amazing entertainment.

Once their meals were done, they headed to the common room together to retrieve their school supplies. They were walking down the hall when a young girl with soft blue hair and pale skin leapt in front of them. She wasn't wearing a uniform. Rather, she wore a flowing dress with sleeves that billowed out gracefully. Alyssa loved flow-y things.

A stern frown shifted onto her face. "Who is she," she murmured to George. He glanced at her and subtly shrugged.

"Let me speak with Alyssa Dragor please." The strange girl demanded with a power in her voice. It sounded familiar to her, but not enough where she could identify who it was.

Hermione pulled out her wand as Fred and George stepped protectively in front of her. "What ever you want to say to her can be said to us as well," George spoke up.

The girl sneered at him. "Don't step out of line Mr BigShot. I don't quite think she would like it if you heard." He snarled at the implied threat.

Alyssa frowned and stepped in quickly. "I'm sorry, but I refuse to speak to you. Goodbye." And with that she hurried off as fast as she could.

That was how she usually avoided fights in the street at Hargeon. If she simply left no room for them to speak and left quickly enough, they wouldn't have an opportunity to swing at her. She knew that she could beat anyone in the school, so she tried to refrain from provoking anyone.

The other three eventually caught up to her at the portrait. "Don't leave us so fast Lyssa," she scolded her.

Alyssa bowed. "I'm sorry, I didn't want to start a fight." the portrait swung open as she finished.

The first thing that caught her attention was a blob of red hair on a sofa in front of the fireplace. It was Ron. She frowned. Something seemed different, something about him reminded her of Hermione. This was going to bug her until she figured it out.

Fred spoke up behind her. "What are we doing in the common room again?" Hermione sighed and rolled her eyes. "We need to get our textbooks and homework, along with the rest of our supplies. So hurry up. We came here for you two."

They smirked in sync and raced up the stairs towards their dorm. The girls shared a look. "What's that smell?" Alyssa asked with a frown.

A putrid fume filled the air. It continued to get more and more intense. "I don't smell anything," Hermione said confused.

She looked down. There, at their feet, was a dungbomb. Her eyes widened and she tugged Hermione out of the common room.

BOOM

The bomb went off and she could hear everyone's groan. They winced together. It truly stunk.

"Thanks Lyssa."

"No problem. Really."

And with that, they once more set out to complete their daily routine.

Hey hatchlings! Feel free to murder me. It took me way too long to update and there is no excuse for that.

But here are my excuses anyway:
-i had exams, which gave me a shitload of homework and revision (but I'm not on a traditional schedule so this was in May to July)
-i had writers block
-discovering my sexuality
-getting depressed moods (that was a shitload excuse)
-gymnastics
-learning kpop dances

That's all I got. Sorry. I would promise you an early update as an apology but I don't want to let y'all down.

So how was your day? Mine was okay. I did the Pacer Test two days ago and I am dead inside. Enjoy your summer while you can.

Question: have you ever seen Don't Hug Me I'm Scared? (its scary, so don't watch it at night) there are 6 episodes, and 5 or 6 are definitely the creepiest.

That's all for this chapter. Remember to hit subscr- oh wait. Wrong social media site. Whoops.

Bye!
~Mimi
