Chapter 10

Chapter 10- Eri's Dream

Eri couldn't see anything but darkness. At one moment she was sleeping, then the next she was here. She wanted to call out for you, but she realized that you weren't here. You were at an island to help other people for the summer, and she was here being taken care of by the heroes.

"Hello?" She called out, nothing but echos from her shout. She hugged slightly and continued to walk, holding her cat plushy close to her chest. As she was looking around to find something, she bumped into something. In instinct she tried to apologize.

"Sorry, I didn't see-" Eri looked up and paused walking. Her eyes slightly widen for a moment seeing a tall figure.
"Hi..." She trailed off seeing a large man in front of her. It looked like he wore a viking outfit, with his ginger hair having braids in it and his beard too.

"'Ello there lassie, what are you doing around here?" He asked softly, kneeling down.
"I don't really know..." Eri mumbled, clutching her cat plushy tightly.
"Well, you shouldn't be here, this place is for the ones who have completed their lives in the world," The Viking explained.

"I-I'm sorry... but I feel like I need to come here," Eri told him looking down at her slippers.
"I feel like... my mommy is here," The Viking looked at the child for a moment, before nodding and standing up.
"What does your mother look like?" He asked her.

"She has beautiful eyes, one blue and one green, she has black hair with white tips, a-and she's a dragon..." Eri muttered while yawning. The Viking thought for a moment, and held his hand out.
"I think I know where your mother is, I will take you to her," He promised.

Eri was hesitant. What if the man was lying? What if she'll never see you again? All those thoughts were pushed away. Eri doesn't know why, but she trusts the man, and held onto his rough, yet gentle hands.

"My name is Eri," She smiled up at him, at which he smiled back.
"What's your name Viking man?" Eri asked him as they started to walk through the darkness.

"Stoick lassie, my name is Stoick the Vast,"

"Here we are, the entrance of the afterlife," Stoick told Eri, standing in front of a gate, with vines growing around the golden poles.
"You can't go in Eri, it's for the ones who are ready," Stoick told the little girl.
"Okay," She nodded as the Viking cupped his hands together to his mouth.

"Valka!! Gobber!! I need you two!!" He shouted out. Eri clutched her kitty plush tightly as the gates slowly opened, and she saw a beautiful place. With dragons and people walking around, being in peace. Then, a large sound was heard, and everything was rumbling. Eri squeaked in fear and hid behind Stoick as a giant dragon appeared and stared at them.

It had white skin with black tips on its spikes. It had large tusks and blue eyes. Eri peaked from her hiding place, and looked at it.
"Bewilderbeast," She breathed out, remembering how you told her stories of the great king. Stoick bowed at his presence, Eri copying him because she was in awe.

"Hello love, back from your grounds?" A female voice was heard, making Eri look up to see a woman on top of the Bewilderbeast. He had light brown hair with a white strand in it, and wore a viking clothing too, but it was more for journeys.
"'Ello darling, just needed to come because of a special visiter," Stoick chuckled, taking a side step to reveal Eri.

The woman gasped slightly and jumped down from the Bewilderbeast, crouching slightly and tilting her head slightly.
"Why, hello there, who are you?" She asked with a soft smile. Eri was scared for a moment, but smiled back.

"Eri, you look beautiful," She giggled, making the woman laugh.
"Why thank you little one. My name is Valka," She introduced, then stood up to face Stoick.
"Love, I sense she doesn't belong here, it's not her time to come here," She told him while kissing his cheek.

"She said she woke up here while sleeping. She wants me to take her to her mother... to her." He whispered the last part to Valka. She stared at him for a moment, and nodded.
"Little one, come with me, if we take you to your mom, but if we do, you have to leave with her," She told Eri, who tilted her head confused.

"Okay," She said, grabbing Valka and Stoick's hand, them leading Eri through the gate and into the new world.
"Where's Gobber? I thought he was with you?" Stoick asked Valka as Eri was looking around. The place was beautiful, she saw people laughing, running around, and talking to each other with dragons flying all around.

"Oh, he's keeping guard, making sure no bad people are sneaking in, you know... him," Valka chuckled. Eri said nothing as she was a little shy seeing all this stuff.
"Eri," She jumped a little at Valka's voice.
"Yes?" She looked up at the dragon rider.
"What is your mother like?" She asked, trying to make Eri loosen up.

"Well, she is brave, and kind, and really strong! Mommy can turn into a big dragon! But not as big as the Bewilderbeast!" Eri smiled, pointing at the Bewilderbeast who was now sleeping.
"What else lassie?" Stoick asked.

"She saved me from a bad man named Chisaki, and even though she was scared, mommy was brave enough to pull through and stopped him! Oh! And other heroes like her! Really like her! I find it funny because they can be dumb around her!" Eri giggled.
"And she has a dad, a mom, and three siblings around my age! I think, they say that they are a thousands years old, but I don't know," She told them.

Stoick and Valka looked at each other as Eri kept going.
"Dart, Pouncer, and Ruffrunner! Mommy's parents are called Toothless and Light, and they're really nice! I wish that I have a daddy too, but I think mommy is going now on strong as a single parent! I really think it's awesome!" Eri smiled wiggle clutching her plushie.

"She sounds like a wonderful mother," Valka said.
"Mhm, I would never ask any other mommy," Eri told her. Just then, they heard a shout.

"Stoick!! Valka!!" The three looked to see another man running up. He had a peg leg and a blonde beard with braids too.
"Gobber! What is it?" Valka asked worriedly.
"It's the newcomer, something is wrong. She's not supposed to be here!" Gobber said in a panic.

The two nodded and turn to Eri.
"Little one, your mother needs your help," Stoick told the small girl.
"O-okay," Eri said with determination. Valka picked her up and ran through the people and dragons. Eri held on her cat plush as she saw a familiar figure.

There you were, curled up in a ball. You were floating, but you were also glowing a purple color. You weren't responding to anyone, not humans or dragons. Eri was scared for you, are you hurt? Did something happen at the island?

"Mommy..." Eri felt her eyes tear up as she saw you fading.
"Mommy!!" She let go of her cat plush and ran towards you, holding her arms out.
"Be careful Eri! Make sure to never let go!!" She heard Valka shout from behind her.

'I'll never let her go, just like she never let me go.' She thought as she wrapped her arms around your waist, holding on tight as everything started to glow bright, and her horn glowing.

'Never let you go mommy,'

Eri gasped as she shot up, panting a little as she found her kitty plush next to her. Her horn sparked a little, as she looked at the clock. It was 9:00, and she sighed a little.
'That was a strange dream,' Eri thought, laying down and closing her eyes to sleep.

Not knowing that three people watched over her.
"Oh I'm so happy Toothless has a daughter," Valka smiled.
"Eh, if you ask me, he should've had some sooner," Gobber shrugged, making Stoick elbow his side.

"Don't forget that they age slowly," Stoick scolded, but then thought of something.
"Eri doesn't know, that her mom may see her grow up, but..." He trailed off, looking at them with a knowing look.
"She will see Eri... die of old age," Valka sighed with realization.

"Aye, a tragic moment to know, but a strong motivation for Toothless' girl to protect her daughter," Gobber told them.
"Right," Valka paused for a moment, and Stoick.
"You want to protect Eri too?" He chuckled as Valka laughed.

"She's so cute! I'm sure she won't mind us helping out," She smiled.
"Ooo! I like that idea!" Gobber grinned. Stoick sighed and put his hands on his hips.

"Alright, but do remember that I'm doing shifts to protect Hiccup's children,"
