A Beating Heart
____
Raina was embarrassed after the whole scene that just transpired. It didn't help that after she got away from them all she heard was people judging her throughout the school.
"That's her?"
"She's always like this?"
"Can't she ever just stay in her place?"
She bit her lip as her entered her culinary class. She heard the the whispers of everyone surrounding her. She placed her bag at her table that was in the corner and kept her head down.
I'll just stay extra quiet for today. Hopefully it'll blow over.
"Raina! Dear, how are you?"
Raina turned her head to see her culinary teacher Mrs. Rose. A smile bloomed onto her face.
"Good afternoon Mrs. Rose. I'm doing well and yourself?"
Mrs Rose gives her a sweet smile. "Thank you dear I've been pretty alright myself." She then continues as she whispers near Raina's ear. "I heard about the commotion in the hallway this morning. Are you okay?"
Raina nodded. "I'm fine, but I think everyone isn't alright with what happened."
Mrs. Rose waved them off. "Don't worry about anyone else. Mistakes happen. Live moves on. Keep that in mind love."
As she said this she stood in front of the rest of the class.
"Alright students! For today's class we'll focus on making something simple. How about some cupcakes? To celebrate our fellow student Raina's birthday today!!"
The class nodded in agreement. As many gave her a very poor round of applause.
"Okay then, you all know the drill get started now!"
As class officially started the studies went and got their supplies from the fridge and pantry. While Raina on the other hand made sure not to interfere or interrupt anyone else.
"Mrs. Rose. Can I talk to you for a moment?" A nearby teacher asked and. Rose when she entered the class.
Mrs. Rose stopped helping her nearby student and washed her hands while taking off her apron.
"You all continue working I'll be out for just a moment."
And with that she turned around and left the classroom with the teacher as they had their conversation outside.
Raina saw the scene and wondered.
I wonder what'll be for next class?
"Raina."
She looked up to see a few girls surrounding her. One glared at her specifically.
"That stunt you pulled earlier, are you proud of yourself?"
Raina bit her lip as she placed her batter down.
Damnit. I knew it was coming.

"Well this year's autumn festival is coming up! Surely the students would love to have a few activities to celebrate this year!"
Mr. Jones stated as he talking his business proposal with the two men in front of him. Honestly he was nervous at first but it seems the two have their minds preoccupied. So they're just easily agreeing to his proposal.
Roy nodded his head. "As they should."
"But that also means... a great deal of donations would be needed to support all of these activities taking place this month."
Ryan raised a brow. He not his brother was oblivious to what the man in front of them was trying to do.
I guess him having a backing with the James' family has gotten to his head.
Ryan wanted to say something but stopped himself as a thought crossed his mind. He then thought a few moments and just nodded his head. "Whatever you need we'll supply."
Roy looked over at his older brother with light shock in his eyes.
I thought he would've taken this moment to humble him.
But he understood what was really found on in his brother's head. His mind was preoccupied by a certain someone.
Raina.
The name flew through Roy's mind throughout the entire meeting. Never did he think he'd be the one to get distracted in a meeting but he didn't mind it being filled with her.
Ryan sighed quietly to himself. He don't know why he didn't negotiate as he usually does, but a thought in his head made him hold his tongue.
What if she wants to go this autumn? Sponsoring it surely would make her happy.
This small thought, somehow took over him and in a flash allowed him to fully spill out his desires. Ryan rubbed his temples irritably.
Damnit. This is getting no where.
Mr. Jones noticed the two were obviously occupied and seeing the growing frustration on their faces , decided to not push his luck for the day.
"That's all for today's meeting. I hope you both enjoyed your time here."
Roy immediately stood to his feet. As much as he didn't want to admit it, a part of him urged to see her again.
Hopefully we get a glimpse of her before we leave.
"Good afternoon Mrs. Rose."
The two turn to see Mr. Jones smiling towards an elderly lady. A lady in her 50's to 60's. She had beautiful blond hair.
"Good afternoon Mr. Jones. I trust all is well?"
"Yes it's been well." Mr. Jones responded with a smile on his face.
After saying this, Mrs. Rose turned to smile at the two twins.
"Good afternoon Sirs! Hope you both enjoyed your visit here."
"Well, we surely found it entertaining." Ryan responded.
Yet for some reason, Ryan couldn't put his finger on it, but he felt himself staring at her intently as he took in her features.
She reminds me of someone.
Crash!!
Just as the group was talking down the hallway they all heard a big crash in the culinary room. Concerned they all followed Mrs. Rose into the room.
Mrs. Rose got to the room first and stared wide eyed.
"What is going on?!"
Raina was on the floor covered head to toe in powder and egg yolk. Anger brewed in her eyes but even more so, humiliation. The surrounding students tried to cover their laughs as they watched her struggle to stand up and pull the egg shells out of her hair.
This is so humiliating.
"Raina are you alright?!" Mrs. Rose yelled out as she prepared to rush over to Raina. But to her shock she was beaten by Ryan, who took the initiative to walk over to her and help her up.
"Are you alright?" Roy asked but the burning anger in his eyes couldn't be contained when Raina raised her eyes to meet his.
Fear struck her immediately. She didn't understand why he was so angry as he held her by her side. But something told her his anger wasn't directed towards her specifically.
Raina nodded her head softly. "Yea. I'm fine."
"How did this happen?" Roy asked as he surveyed the classroom.
The classroom feel into an hush.
"So no one's going to speak up?" Ryan's voice filled the silent room as the rest of the students kept their head down.
Mr. Jones seen how the students were uncomfortable and spoke up. "I think you both should leave this t-
"Stop talking." Ryan's harsh tone immediately quieted the principal. As he realized he had no control over the situation, he just took a step back and nervously decided to let them figure it out themselves.
Ryan's eyes scanned the room. His eyes landed on a girl who was constantly fidgeting.
"You. Come here." The girl stepped forward as Ryan examined her. He noticed her hands the egg yolk and flour on her hands.
"So it was you?" Raina seemed to see how this would turn out and nudged Roy whispering.
"Tell him to drop it . I'm alright it's not that serious."
Roy only glanced down at her.
"Don't tell us how to handle our problems."
After that he took a piece of egg shells out of her hair and turned away from her. Gripping her tightly in his arms.
Raina felt suffocated by the whole thing. And the attention she's receiving isn't making it any better.
Raina gritted her teeth as she glared up at Roy. "Let me go. I'm serious."
Roy raised a brow at Raina. "So I'm supposed to take you seriously?"
Before she could answer he continued. "Just stay quiet Raina. We got it from here."
Raina didn't know how to feel with being told to shut up and watch. Or the fact that the way this man said her name was so smooth and comforting she had no problem in anything he just said.
What's wrong with today?
"I wasn't the only one! The rest of them was in on it as well!!" Raina was brought back to the situation seeing as a few other students along with the girl who just embarrassed her were caught.
"Raina is it them?" Ryan asked as he turned to her. All he got in response was her staring at him for a few moments before turning her head the other way. Ryan silently frowned at this. He was doing her a favor, and he didn't like being ignored in a crowd of people.
She'll have to learn.
Ryan thought this as he turned back around.
"Please, let us handle this ourselves."
Mr. Jones asked as he interrupted Ryan as he prepared to punish the children.
"If I left it up to the school I'm pretty sure it would be you pardoning them to pacify their parents." Ryan snapped as he glared at the principal to which he had no response to.
"It was just children making mistakes. Why don't we just leave it alone as it is?"
"Really?" Ryan said as he raised a brow. "Is that how you think?"
"Very well. Then there's no need for us to sponsor a school with students who clearly aren't educated properly."
Roy agreed as he walked past them with a sleeping Raina in his arms.
"Instead of us spending our money on spoiling them you should've asked to have them focused more on their studies instead."
Before the principal could respond Roy continued. "We'll both take our leave."
As they prepared to leave Ryan noticed a syringe sticking out of Roy's pocket. Then he glanced back at the sleeping Raina and connected the docs .
Him and his temper.
Signing Ryan got into the car along with Roy and Raina.
This gonna be a hell of a ride home.
