17: Where's The Respect?

Louis was especially poor off at dinner however, even after your rendezvous in the car. He took only seven bites of his pig meat and excused himself.

"Well, I'll leave you guys to take care of the dishes. I'll be in my room coming up with our future plans." He extended an arm you. "Join me."

With a nod, you stood up and followed him to his luxurious room as the lions called after him.

"What?! You're already done, boss?!"

"Don't compare the size of my stomach to yours. Besides... I have better and more beautiful things to attend to." He put a hand on your hand. "Eat without me."

"Yes, sir! We trust you, boss! You're the best!"

"Shut up and eat." He grinned as you both disappeared up the stairs and to his room. Upon closing the door, he collapsed. Quickly, you brought him a waste basket, which he promptly vomited in. At the knock, you removed the basket and tossed it to the side. Louis fixed his suit as the lion entered.

"Boss."

"Yes, Ibuki?"

"I was going to go with the guys to buy some booze, but I came here because I was worried about you... Are you feeling okay? You look pale."

"What do you want? I'm okay."

"You're losing weight. I'm the one who made you the boss and I should take responsibility."

Suddenly, Louis was handed a salad.

"I told you never to speak with them, you bitch!" Louis seethed at you, thinking you had been the one to expose his weakness.

Your eyes narrowed at him.

"I didn't say anything." The words dripped with venom as Louis accepted it silently and waved you an apology.

"I promise your plaything had nothing to do with it. I had to go to the main street to get this... I've never bought something like this before... I was pretty nervous." Ibuki knealt down and pushed the salad at Louis.

"W-What's your deal?! Are you trying to make a fool out of me with those vegetables!?"

"I knew you would react this way... Why are you so damn stubborn?! Quit neglecting your body!" Ibuki didn't smell of aggression though; he smelled quite desperate. "You're not only important to the Shishigumi, you've also got a chance of changing the chaos at the black market. You're no good to anyone dead!" You nodded at Louis as he locked eyes with you. "You know, I can't bear to see my new boss breaking down... especially because of me. I know this might sound strange, but when I see you, I feel my appetite for meat going away... I know you're doing the best you can despite how different you are from all of us. I want to show you my level of dedication as well. This is for your body. You need to nourish yourself."

Ibuki's words were genuine but Louis' face hardened with further resolve. He couldn't give in now. "Did you want to see me drooling for vegetables so you could sneer at me? Where's my respect..."

"WHAT?" Ibuki roared, "How can you be so--"

"Do you think you understand me?"

"Hand it to me." You interrupted Louis. "I'll eat it."

Ibuki threw the salad at you, hoping that perhaps his boss would once again cave and eat with you.

"You lions, don't know a damn thing about me..."

"BOSS!" A lion called from downstairs. "There's a young wolf who wants to see you!"
