Elizabeth's POV~ October 12, 2017, Thursday

Buzz Buzz Buzz Buzz

My eyes slowly opened to hearing the sound of my alarm go off. I slowly sat up from my bed and reached over to my nightstand to turn off the alarm. I looked at the time and realized that it was 7:00 which gave me about 45 minutes to get ready for school.

I got up and headed to the bathroom. I looked in the mirror and cringed.

Gosh, I look hideous.

My dark brown hair was tangled and desperately needed to be combed. The bags under my eyes were bad. I smiled looking at the braces that were on my teeth. 

Thank God I'm getting those off soon. I thought to myself.

I quickly brushed my teeth and tried combing through my hair, which resulted in a headache.

After I deemed my hair untangled enoguh I put it up in a messy bun, not wanting to do anything special to it.

I then got some makeup and put mascara on to make my light brown eyes pop.

After I was done I went inside my room and headed to my closet to pick out an outfit and decided on a regular white t shirt, a black hoodie, light blue denim jeans, and black vans.

I then headed over to my full length mirror, to look over myself. From head to toe only one word came to my mind about my appearance. 

Average.

I thought about things I could do to make myself seem a little less average. But all of those things included doing extra work. And why do extra work to impress people at school, it's basically been the same annoying people for all 4 years. 

Soon I'll be out of that place.

I took my phone out of my charger and saw that I got a text from one of my best friend's Derick.

Derick: Hey are you almost ready, I'm driving to your house now, I think I'll be there in 15.

Me: Yea, Im done getting ready just honk when ur here.

I put my phone in my hoodie pocket, grabbed my bookbag and headed downstairs to the kitchen, where I was greeted by my mother.

My mother was 35, having me when she was 18. And my mother was very good looking. She had dark blonde hair, the only thing that I got from her was my eye color. Unfortunately I didn't get her looks.

The man who got her pregnant, my dad, dumped her when she told him that she was pregnant and told him that she refused to get an abortion. My mother went through with the pregnancy, and with the help of her parents, was able to take care of me and go to school, now she's a nurse. She doesn't make a lot of money, but she makes enough to keep a roof over our heads, food to eat, clean clothes, and something nice for us here and there.

We lived in a small house, but it was enough for the two of us.

"Hi sweetie." She said sitting at the table with a plate of eggs and bacon in front of her.

"Hi mom." I greeted her back and sat in the chair across from her that had a plate of eggs and bacon, and started eating the food.

"Is Derick coming soon?" She asked me.

"Yea he should be here in about 5 minutes." I said to her.

Honk

"Or I guess right now. Bye Mom." I said picking up my bookbag and kissed her on the cheek. 

"Hold on." She said and went into her pocket and pulled out $200.

"Here this is for this week." She said and hugged me.

"I love you Elizabeth." She said kissing me on the cheek.

"I love you to mom." I responded.

I rushed out the door and saw his black jeep. I walked to the passenger door and opened it.

"Hey Derick." I said getting inside the car.

"Hey Beth." He said leaning over to give me a quick hug, and started to drive.

We got to school about 20 minutes later.

"I think we should head to homeroom." He said once we stepped into the building.

I looked at the time at my phone and saw that it was 8:25, and we needed to be in homeroom by 8:30. 

"Yeah, you're right bye Derick." I said walking in the direction of my homeroom."

"Bye Beth, see you at lunch." He said waving at me.

The first 4 classes went by terribly, of course because none of my best friends were in them.

It was finally lunch time and I met up with my friend at my locker. 

"Hey Derick, where's Elise and Kate?" I asked him for my other best friend.

"I know Kate is still on vacation, but I don't know about Elise, I haven't seen her today..." He said, trying to think.

"I'm right here!" I heard a voice yell in my ear.

This caused me to jump and almost fall, but luckily Derick caught me.

I turned around to see who did it and saw that it was the very person I was asking for.

"Elise, why would you do that were you trying to burst my eardrum?" I asked her, standing up with the help of Derick.

"I thought it was funny." She said with a smile on her face.

"Whatever let's just go to lunch." I mumbled and started walking in the direction of the lunchroom.

"Aww, I'm sorry if I made you sad Beth." She said and started to hug me.

"I'm fine, let's just please get to the lunchroom I'm starving."

We finally got our lunch after standing in the extremely long line to pay and found ourselves a table.

I got a cheeseburger, fries, and a soda. Derick got wings and fries, and a soda. And of course Elise, trying to keep her weight in check, got a salad with a water.

"I really don't understand how you eat that stuff." I said to Elise, eying her salad.

"Don't try to come for my salad because I'm trying to be healthy" , she said sticking her fork into the salad and eating some.

Derick proceeded to make a gagging sound, which caused her to slap on his shoulder.

"Anyways Elise did you do the Sociology homework?" I asked her.

Her mouth opened and she hadn't finished eating her salad.

"Ugh, could you close your mouth, that's gross." Derick said.

She obliged, and quickly slowed her salad and said "OMG I COMPLETELY FORGOT!" she said.

"Can you please let me copy it, please please please." She said to me.

"We have it next period, why are you trying to copy it now? Either way it's in my locker." I said, taking a bite out of my cheeseburger.

"Oh my gosh my grade is gonna drop. This is gonna be the 15th zero I'm getting for homework." She said putting her head in her hands.

"How is that even possible, we've only been in school for a week." He said, looking genuinely confused.

"Because this bitch literally gives us homework everday." Elise said.

"Hey don't call her that, she's actually really nice." I said defending our Sociology teacher.

"You're only saying that because she loves you. It's obvious that you're her favorite." Elise said rolling her eyes.

"I'm not her favorite, I just do all the homework." I said taking a sip of my soda.

"Whatever." She mumbled.

All of a sudden the cafeteria noticeably got louder.

"Why did it get so loud all of a sudden?" Derick asked.

" I don't know." I said.

"I know, look towards the entrance." Elise said.

So I turned around and looked at the entrance.
