[staring contest]
A/N: Hey guys! This chapter was originally my go-to emergency drabble to post if I was ever in hiatus, but since I can't seem to stand seeing a perfectly finished chapter just sitting in my drafts (and I may be experiencing a hiatus from having a lot of time to write), I'm posting it now. So much for that emergency chapter, but hey, what can ya do? XD #IguessIcouldfinishoneofmy70+draftsorsomething #didIsay70draftsoutloud? #whoops #Iprobablyshouldn'ttellpeoplethat
Dedicated to @iloveoddtodd, because
she was asking about a Todd chapter! ;D
This chapter takes place sometime before Todd decided to consider going odd.
Enjoy!

Scratch scratch.
Ten-year-old Olive's favorite blue pen tic-tacked along the paper, slowly but surely filling in all the required spaces.
Case summary:
Dog grown to the size of a house.
She blew a few long, wavy strands of hair out of her eyes.
Gadget used:
Would've used #37, Un-ginormousinator, but didn't need to.
Her nose twitched once or twice, and she felt increasingly distracted, but still she plowed on.
Details:
Got a call from a woman in the States who wanted expert help on what to do with her daughter's dog, who had grown too big for their apartme
Her pen drifted off the paper as she paused, for some reason getting the itching feeling someone was watching her. Her head bobbed up, prepared to glance around the room for the cause of the strange sensation, but instead she jumped a little, not expecting to abruptly meet her own partner's eyes.
Todd was staring at her, a mischievous grin plastered on his face.
"...W...what is it?" Olive asked hesitantly, raising one furrowed eyebrow. He only shrugged innocently, his bright eyes not leaving hers.
"Don't blink, Scribbles," he replied cryptically, still grinning.
Wary confusion etched itself across her features. "What?" she repeated, cocking her head slightly in uncertainty. What was he doing this time? His stare remained intently on her, so the first possibility that came to mind vocalized itself in a sort of clueless question.
"...Staring contest?" she guessed, shrugging helplessly, more unsure of all this than actually curious.
His face flickered with amusement, and she resisted the urge to groan. "Todd, I'm trying to finish my—"
"C'mon Scribbles! You never try to have fun!" Todd never once blinked or looked away as he gestured emphatically yet vaguely to their surroundings. "Look around! ...I mean—don't look around if you don't wanna lose, but-but you know what's there already!"
Her eyes narrowed slightly in confusion, though for the record, she didn't blink. "What do you mean?" she replied, making a face. "I do have fun!"
It was a little bit funny how someone's expression would keep changing for emphasis when they couldn't move their eyes. "This is Odd Squad!" Todd exclaimed, clearly exasperated. "We're kids! Chillax and goof off once in a while, yeesh! If we wanted to be all boring bore-bore all the time and sit around with serious faces while we do too much paperwork, we'd grow up and get some dumb regular job. Not a job like this!"
Olive's eyebrows scrunched together in a show of perplexity, though she still didn't blink. "I... guess," she replied with a one-shoulder shrug, not quite getting where he was going with that. Sure, they could do silly stuff here that they couldn't do many other places, but shouldn't she still finish her work?
"...So?" she ventured, trying her best to understand.
His face twitched, and he grimaced slightly, looked like he was very much fighting the urge to roll his eyes. "SO, I bet I can win. Catch up already, Scribbles. I bet you three of my Snickers bars."
For a brief moment, Olive wondered exactly how far her partner's thoughts usually were past their conversations, but she shoved it aside. "But... those are your favorite!"
She winced at how clearly a sarcastic 'duh' was written all over his face. "Yeah. And I think I'm gonna win," he replied slowly, blue eyes glittering fiercely and eyebrows raised high.
...Well... her eyes didn't feel dry yet. Maybe she could take him?
"You're... on?" she replied nervously, almost posing it as a question. A tiny, awkward grin tugged at her face as she tried to square herself up and appear confident.
Todd chuckled, and he shook his head nearly undetectably, something like fondness flashing in his eyes as he smirked.
Definitely not used to that, Olive ducked her head slightly, grin dissolving into a small, sheepish smile. She blinked a couple times, brain busy trying to figure out exactly what was going on with her partner today.
"Ha!" Todd crowed the instant she averted her gaze, "You owe me THREE SNICKERS, Scribbles! EHEHAHAHAHA!"
Starting at his sharp cackling, the bewildered agent jolted upright, quickly trying to protest. "Hey! N—that's no fair! You bet your own candy! You didn't say—"
He kicked his feet up on his desk, folding his arms smugly as a smirk grew on his face. He blinked, and somehow Olive felt that the tiny action was entirely on purpose. "Pay up!"
"Hrrr..." she grumbled helplessly, crossing her own arms in unhappiness. Yup, Todd was still being Todd.
"...Whatever," she finally retorted in as much of a who-cares tone as she could muster. He grinned brightly, and she stifled a groan, resting her fingertips on the bridge of her nose in a very unimpressed facepalm.
"You're impossible," she mumbled, quickly returning to her paperwork in an attempt to ignore him.
"Thanks!" he chirped in reply, and Olive just sighed and shook her head.

A/N: So... Voila! More old fic! Amazing, right? No? Yeah, that's what I thought too. Not super great, but hey, it's finished! That's more than I can say for a lot of stuff I write. XD
Also, if you haven't seen the eat-a-snickers meme with Odd Todd, you need to look it up. You just totally need to. It's amazing. #better? #better
