Chapter 4

In the guild hall later that day after practicing her magic, Dimi scanned over the request board. Unfortunately none of the requests mentioned anything about a strange beast. All of the requests were either about beating up a band of criminals, or finding something somebody lost. The only potential job that looked like what she was looking for seemed to be looking for somebody's pet.

"Well, I might as well start somewhere." Dimi muttered. "I've gotta take a job so I'll be able to explain why I was able to afford a house." She sighed. She had managed to get the pouch when she grabbed the duffel bag, so she would be able to buy a house. But after explaining to Lucy and Natsu that she didn't have any money- or Jewel as it's called in this dimension- she would have to take a job in order to avoid suspicion. "Now, which one has the most reward money. Hmmm. Oh, a monster hunt? For 200,000 Jewel? That should be enough to reason getting a house. Or an apartment in Fairy Hills. Not to mention it is a monster hunt. Hopefully it's a lead."

Ripping the paper off the request board, she walked over to Mirajane. Lucy had explained how to request a job the day before as she was showing Dimi around the guild hall. Glancing up at the second floor, a thought ran through Dimi's head.

What if a lead was up there? But... I can't get up there without suspicion unless I was S-class. Letting out a small sigh, she continued to make her way towards Mirajane.

"Hello, Dimira. Are you taking a job request?" She asked, a soft smile on her face.

Dimi nodded and showed Mirajane the request.

"This one? Are you sure? Don't you wasn't to do one that's a little easier for your first job?" Mirajane asked.

"No. I'll be fine, this isn't my first time going against a monster." Dimi stated. A monster hunt it pretty easy in my opinion. And this monster doesn't seem to difficult.

Mirajane looked at Dimi with a slightly concerned look. But stamped the paper nonetheless. "Do you need anything before you go?"

Dimi shook her head. "I've got everything I need right here." She motioned towards the duffel bag that she was holding in her hand. "If that's all, I'll be off." Before Mirajane could respond, Dimi turned and walked out of the guild hall, and towards the train station that she had past the day before. Unfortunately she wasn't going to be able to use a portal— mainly because when opening portals within the same dimension, she had to know where exactly she was going and what it looked like. With this, she only knew the time of the place and the location to meet. There were no pictures to show her where she was meeting, which meant she had to take the train.

-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-

The train ride was peaceful to say the least, well apart from certain blonde and black haired teens who seemed to be getting motion sick. Though they had gotten off a few stops before Dimi, so she had some time to relax before she got to the job location.

After getting off the train, Dimi was greeted by a semi large village. Not wanting to waste time, she headed to the place of meeting— the mayor's office. Walking through the town, she didn't notice anything off. Everybody seemed happy and cheerful, as if nobody had a care in the world.

Thinking about it, that is a bit off. If there's a giant monster, shouldn't people be a bit more scared instead of being so... happy? Well, if anything happens, I can handle it.

Continuing to walk through the town, Dimi finally made it to the mentioned building. There wasn't much of a different between the building in front of her and the rest of the town. It was maybe a little bit bigger, but it was pretty much like the rest of the buildings in the town.

Wanting to get the job over with, Dimi walked up and knocked on the door, watching as it opened to reveal a woman in a maids outfit. Though something was off about her. The smile on her face was completely fake. Sure, it looked genuine, yet the dead look in her eyes made Dimi alert.

"May I ask why you're here?" The maid asked, her voice sickly sweet.

"I'm from Fairy Tail. I'm the one that took the job of beating that monster." Dimi answered blandly.

"Oh, of course! The master is waiting for you. Please, follow me."

Dimi nodded and started to walk through the doorway. Though just before she closed the door behind her, she heard some muttering from onlookers.

"Poor girl. Doesn't know what she's in for."

Now I'm really alert. Dimi thought, looking around the house through narrowed eyes. Of course, nothing seemed out of the ordinary. A few pieces of experience looking decor, some pictures of people of authority on the walls, the interior of the building was just overall normal. But with the maids expression, and the overly happy village, Dimi wasn't going to let her guard down one bit.

"Alright, here we are." The maid said, stopping before a grand doorway.

"Thank you." Dimi said simply. Walking forwards, Dimi pushed open the doorway, only to see an empty room. "Something is for sure up with this place." She muttered to herself.

"Oh! Hello there! Sorry about that, I had to... take care of something." A man said as he walked in. He was slender and at least a foot and a half taller than Dimi, slicked back black and beady black eyes.

All of my danger meters are going off right now. Keeping her face neutral, Dimimanaged to hide her suspicions. "It's alright. I'm from Fairy Tail. I'm here to complete the job."

"You're not very expressive, are you?" The man asked, a certain glint in his eyes.

Dimi didn't respond, she didn't want to end up giving the man too much information just in case any suspicions she had might happen.

After another minute of awkward silence, the man continued. "As the request described, there is a monster that's been threatening this town. I'd like you to kill it and lift it's hold."

"Alright. Where is this monster?" Dimi asked..

"It lives in a cave a little distance away from the village. It shouldn't be too hard to miss. Please, save my village."

Dimi nodded. "I'll be going now." She uttered.

"Ah! I'll have one of my maids escort you out." The mayor stated. "Once you're done with beating that monster, return here with proof and I'll give you your reward."

Dimi nodded and left the room, being escorted out of the house by the same maid that lead her to his room.

"I wish you luck, young wizard!" The maid exclaimed, the same faux smile on her face.

Dimi glanced over her shoulder, determination burning in her eyes. "Don't worry, I promise I'll get your freedom." She uttered out, her voice just loud enough for the both of them to hear. "And I never back out on a promise."
