Another Attack
*Time skip because I need the school year to be over now... ;)*
Millie
"I actually passed?!" Matt exclaimed as he looked over his N.E.W.T.s.
"Probably by accident," I teased as I looked over my own test results.
It was the end of the school year and it felt weird to know that I wouldn't be going back to Hogwarts for the next school semester. Matt and I had decided to celebrate by going to an old quiet bookstore that was tucked away in Diagon Alley and look over our test schools while we enjoy some cookies and milk. It was just us because the other member of our squad, Zander, declined, saying he was "very busy".
"Oh, yeah?" He laughed. "What did you get?"
I looked at his N.E.W.T.S. then mine.
"I got ten more than you did," I chortled gleefully. (I don't know how N.E.W.T.s work so forgive me if that's not how it works.)
Matt looked at mine and chucked his papers at me. I laughed as the air caught them and flung them right back at him.
"So, what do you plan on doing for a profession?" I asked as he bent over and picked them up.
"I'm applying for an Auror," he replied. "Don't know if I'll get it, though."
"Why?" I snatched the last chocolate chocolate chip cookie from the basket in front of us.
"I'm a bit of an idiot."
I looked at him skeptically. The look probably didn't have the effect I was shooting for because of my milk mustache and the cookie crumbs decorating my mouth.
"No, you're not." I pointed at the N.E.W.T.s he got for Defense Against the Dark Arts. "Look. In this class you got one of the highest scores."
"Yeah, I guess. But I'm just so..."
"Just so..." I prompted.
He blew some air out through his nose in frustration.
"I dunno. I feel like in this world of wizards I'll never be good enough."
I dusted my face with a napkin. "Could you exploit your reasoning?"
"Well," he leaned back in his chair. "I'm not really smart and good at magic like Zander. And you're a-."
I shot him a look. I didn't know who could be listening and was still not okay with the ministry knowing I was an anmargris.
"-really cool person," he caught himself. "Who is also good at magic
I shrugged. "Would you prefer if you had some cool magical talent?" I asked.
His eyes lit up. "Oh, yeah."
"Hm," I swiped the crumbs from the table in front of me and stood up. "Well, I guess we'll have fun if we're put in the same area."
He blinked at me. "What?"
I smirked. "I'm applying to be an Auror too!"
He smiled broadly and I excepted a high five from him.

Zander
"You have a mission," she told me.
I looked up in annoyance.
"Since when has it became a thing to silently materialize into my house and give me commands?" I demanded.
She had the expression of a cat who had just been pet backwards as she looked at me.
"Since you went into the service of the PM," she seethed.
I decided that I liked to annoy her. It was so easy and rewarding.
"Oh." I turned around and pretended to forget her. I think she actually thought I did because she paused awkwardly, not sure what to do.
I picked up a vial and started to ladle the potion I was working on into it.
"The PM wants you to turn into your Obsurial form and crash a political meet tonight," she finally stated.
The vial shattered on the floor and my potion splashed my shoes.
I leaned over and started picking up the pieces of glass.
"Out of the question."
"Please, Z, you didn't see her using your gift as an advantage?" She sniffed, folding her arms.
"Don't call me that." I stood up with the pieces of glass in my hand.
She ignored me. "You literally have no other choice but to obey."
"Well, we have a problem, Houston," I snapped. "I only attack what I feel threatened by."
"But if something gets in the way..." she reasoned.
I grimaced and sorted out my options. They were limited.
"Zander," she suddenly whispered softly.
I looked at her. She was staring at my hand. I looked down and realized I had squeezed the glass and now my hand was bleeding.
"Are you-"
"I'm fine!" I snapped. I dropped the glass and looked at her again. She looked concerned. I glared at her in return.
Her face hardened. "Let's go."
Anger, hatred, and even fear bubbled up on me as I let my body start to turn into the misty monster I was.
She lightly touched my arm and we apparated away.

Unknown Beast Kills Three and Leaves More Wounded at Political Meeting
A political meeting was taking place yesterday when a large, unknown, and invisible beast attacked the building where the meeting was taking place as well as the people in the meeting.
"We were just talking and waiting for the meeting to start when suddenly the building shuddered and began to be ripped apart," says Auror Tres Dellingson. "It then started picking up my fellow wizards and witches and tossing them everywhere."
According to other eye witness reports the way this beast would attack was to pick them up and slam them up and down against the walls, ceiling, and floor in a vicious way.
"We can neither confirm nor deny whether we know what kind of monster this is," beast enthusiast Nathaniel Ludiker stated to reporters that gathered at the blocked off scene. He went on to say that he was confident that there was no need to worry about more attacks.
The tally is three were killed and ten wounded.

Millie
I listened as Matt read the newspaper article to me. When he finished he looked up at me, his face asking for my thoughts on the article.
"It's like what happened to us," I said simply. "Was the Ludiker mentioned in the paper your Uncle Nate?"
Matt nodded, folded the newspaper up and set it on his desk.
"I dunno, Mil, it all seems kinda fishy to me." He fiddled with his robe sleeve.
We had both gotten jobs as Aurors and were currently in the office doing supposed to be doing paperwork. We had been, I swear, but Matt called me over so that he could show me the newspaper article.
"You think there's foul play involved?" I asked.
He shook his head. "No, but I'm wondering if the ministry is correct in thinking that there won't be anymore attacks."
"Maybe we should ask Zander again if he remembers anything about the beast. Maybe we can help identify it."
"How would he know?"
We both jumped at the new speaker.
"Uncle Nate!" Matt identified his sandy haired uncle.
"'Ello, Matt!" They warmly shook each other's hand. "And you must be Millie Marowski," Nathan Ludiker greeted, shaking my hand as well.
"Yes, sir," I confirmed shyly.
"Well, I've just come to check on you two, see how things are going." He looked friendly enough. He had dark blue eyes like Matt, suntanned skin and, even though he didn't look over thirty-five, he had white hairs and smile lines by his eyes.
"It's going well," Matt and I responded in unison.
"Good. Er, what were you saying about your friend knowing something about this beast?" He looked at us quizzically.
"Oh, uh, when the monster attacked Zander's father's home when we were there he's the only one that remained conscious and remembers everything," Matt explained sheepishly.
"You mean everyone but Zander got nocked out?" He looked confused.
"Yeah."
"And none of you, not even Cosmo Whitehurst, remembers anything?"
"That's what I said," Matt confirmed.
A series of expression quickly went over Mr Ludiker's face, none of which I could read.
"It's good you will be working in the ministry," he muttered. I got the feeling he was talking more to himself than us. "Now I can keep a closer eye on you two."
"Why do you need to keep an eye on us?" Matt inquired.
"Because of what she-," he stopped himself and looked at us. He had obviously been about to reveal some secret we weren't supposed to know.
"Who's she?" I probed.
His mouth twitched and he shook his head. "No one. I have to go. You two work hard." He hurried away.
We watched him go.
"Why did he keep referring to us together?" I suddenly asked.
"What do you mean?" Matt scratched his nose without concern.
"He kept saying "you two". "Now I can keep a closer eye on you two,"" I pointed out. "He acts like we're both his niece and nephew and so he has to keep an eye on both of us, not just you."
"What are you suggesting?"
"I don't know. But maybe it has something to do with that "she" he mentioned."
"Hm," Matt shrugged, still not concerned. "Well, we should get back to work."
I nodded and went back to my desk and started to fill out some papers.
Heyo. Thanks to whoever is still reading. Sorry this chapter was kind of short and slow. I plan to start speeding things up as I continue to sort out the details in my storyline.
