Kent is my least favorite for...obvious reasons. Another answer I would have accepted is Kent's parents. They literally don't do ANYTHING about their son that literally rapes kids in their own basement. A damn disgrace.

Fun Facts

I was debating on making Joi's childhood love story gay

Yeah...if you know me, you know I love my gay stuffs.

As you now know, Jule was actually bi. I knew that from the beginning. That being said, I was considering making Joi queer too, and Jule would be his love interest.

But then I realized that I'd have two options:

1. Make him gay/bi from the start (I didn't like that though. It seemed a lot to make him Hitler's son, homeless, an immigrant, a victim of rape, AND gay. I didn't want to seem like I was trying to be over-the-top inclusive.), or

2. Have the classic "I thought I was straight but now I see the gay light" type thing situation (I didn't like that either, because I would basically be saying that Joi's experience with Kent "made him gay." I wasn't comfortable doing that.)

I almost completely wrote this story freehanded

I was a legit pantser.

I started this story in June of 2018 and finished it early 2020. In the first year of writing this story, I had absolutely no idea where I was going with it. All I knew was that I wanted to write about a homeless boy that didn't speak.

The idea of making Joi Hitler's son, have a sister, be a victim of rape, and all the other twists all came along the way. A year and a half in when I actually knew how to kind of be a writer, that was when I buckled down and made a solid plan.

You can only imagine how fun the editing process was.

Jhonny was originally going to be a permanent antagonist

You know, Jhonny is one of the characters that I am most proud of in this story.

It's kind of hard to pull a 180 like that with a character.

My basic 6th grade mind was just going to make him the usual boring bully that just beats up the protagonist for no reason.

Luckily I grew up and decided that I had bigger and better plans for our boy :)

Joi's name...

So like...I have no idea how I came up with Joifny as a name. All I knew was that I wanted him to have a unique name and I wanted it to start with a J.

I think I started with some basic J name like James or Jordan and went on modifying that XD

Jhonny's name...

I started writing this in sixth grade, okay. My spelling was absolutely sub-par.

I actually thought I was spelling it right.

But then I noticed the red underlines underneath his name and said "oh..."

And then I said, "Eh, I like it better this way."

My friend and my mom have made fun of me for my unusual names in stories XD.

My mom even said to me one time "Y'know, every author has their 'thing'. Maybe your thing is weird names."

I've got to be honest with you guys, I did that completely on accident.

I didn't even realize it until I was halfway into the story XD

You can see me sort of poking fun at myself when I make Mrs. Mathis and Joi come up with their squad name heheh
