Wendigo Of the Northern Lights
[Another attack from Artfight this year by my friend Chao, my main three beans have all been drawn by my friend and I am loving them the most UwU]
Kur was too focused on possibly meeting Burakku again. Catching the sign of ash white hair Kur moved faster before stopping on the wooden deck, "Burakku," Kur spoke softly as the ash-white-haired stopped and turned around. The crimson red eyes along with the scar on their left cheek said it all, "Burakku it really is you..." A moment of silence filled the whole area... Bated breath at most...
The demon in question just stared wide-eyed before gasping, "K-Kur is that you?" They asked if they were seeing a mirage of someone who was lost. As if they were seeing a hallucination. "No everyone was killed that day..." Burakku said in disbelief, "H-how?"
"It is really me," Kur said softly as their old friend was breaking down in front of them, "It's been too long Burakku." Burakku's crimson eyes lit up as Burakku took shaky steps towards Kur before Kur held out their arms and gave a soft smile.
"You didn't perish with everyone else," Burakku said with a low voice, "but I saw the ruins... everything was gone." Kur frowned. Lenix did mention how torn Burakku felt discovering that the Neverland Star was no more. But Kur didn't think it would be bad for their friend. Kur kept their arms open gesturing for Burakku to come closer. Burakku walked closer before sighing deeply and embracing Kur tightly as if not wanting to let go of them. "I thought everything was truly gone... I had just come from Lenix's home when he mentioned staying in the port another day as someone will be coming to seek me... If I had known it was you then I would've searched for you myself... oh that Thunderbird does know how to truly mask their words."
There were tears in Burakku's eyes as they tightened their embrace. Kur just stood there silently as they felt their old friend cry his heart's content. "I'm sorry," Kur started to say, "I was not strong enough to push the corrupted ones away in time to save everyone... I barely made it myself... but I am relieved that you are alright," Kur smiled softly, moving slowly to gently rub Burakku's back.
"You fool," Burakku sniffled, "it's supposed to be the opposite. I wasn't there to help... I failed everyone in my role as Devil." The Wendigo demon sighed heavily before loosening his grip and moved slightly away, "you've changed so much... What happened?" Kur frowned as it would be difficult for them to explain everything to their old friend. "You can explain and introduce your companions when we get to the ship as there are many eyes on us..." Kur grew wary as Burakku mentioned it. With Nodding their head, Burakku gestured towards the docks and soon they all walked towards the ships.
"So all of that happened and the residents of this hidden world, Makai, took care of you?" Burakku asked as if to confirm what Kur had explained to him.
"Yes," Kur confirmed Burakku's question, "it was thanks to them that I now have battle experience as well." Kur smiled as Chuma picked up the mug that another demon had placed for everyone when they arrived and sat in the captain's cabin.
"Do not fret, Lich," Burakku hummed, "a Celestial Pirate wouldn't be that ignorant to poisons a Lich's drink... If any of my crew did that the curse would activate either killing them or I would kill them myself I do not take kindly to ignorance to that high degree." Chuma seemingly content with what Burakku had said he took a sip of what was in the mug, "but also I want to personally thank you for taking care of Kur when I couldn't be there, Lich Chuma." Chuma's one good eye grew wide as he looked up at Burakku, sure this wasn't his first time receiving a compliment from a Celestial but coming from a demon that represents a Wendigo one of the most vicious and violent types was completely new to him.
"I was only thereafter the initial treatment of Kur," Chuma covered his mouth with his sleeve as he wished not to be rude as the shock did make him spill some of the drink on his face, "I only took care of them after the majority of their wounds were healed." Burakku shook his head.
"Silly babble," Burakku chuckled, "you did more than what you think... Back on Neverland Star, Kur was always questioning whether they were a good star or not. Always second-guessing themselves if it wasn't for you being with them up until this moment, Kur would've been hurt or even worse wiped from existence for good."
"Why is that? What does it mean to be a—" Chuma looked at Kur before looking back at Burakku, "What does it mean to be a Blackhole?" Burakku and Emerald's eyes grew wide. Chuma knew then that they both know what he was talking about. Burakku sighed before standing walking to the door looking out before waving someone over.
"Ma'am Emerald this is Senerity, they will take you to the kitchen for your growling stomach," an all too familiar demon Kur recognized immediately but choose to stay silent. Burakku whispered something to Senerity before Senerity lead Emerald away to the kitchens. "I had to get her out of here as I know it would be bad if more than a few select knew about this... So about the ordeal of the blackhole role, you must've heard from the orphanage star Akumu no-Kage." Chuma nodded his head as Burakku sighed, "unfortunately I wish I didn't have to explain it myself but it is necessary to explain as you will be running across several people saying it. So what it means is that the species of black holes are known as destructive and are known to only bring death to others... As of 200 years ago, they have jumped to second place on the most hated species... Well besides the corrupted that had been rapidly growing in the last 200 years. But with that aside the black holes are being rumored out to be working with the corrupted and that's what has been bringing them into the list of the most hated... but I suspect that someone is spreading lies which that's why I am here, to begin with, other than to stay like Lenix had asked me too... I needed a tracking spell to find the origin of the rumor."
"Why is such hatred being thrown around?" Chuma asked as he was curious about this development as well, "From what my scholar textbooks said back in my schooling years the Celestials are always in harmony caring for each other. The only flack one may have would be towards an individual that may have started some disagreement or harm?"
"A lot has changed since the fall of the Neverland Star and much more not to add that the demon species are also on the hatred list. With the Nightmare Mist and everything else with the steady growth of the population of the corrupted, it's more of the fear where the hatred is coming from," Burakku sighed as he rubbed the tips of his claws on the skull's top muzzle. "But now since I see you with my own eyes, I do not wish anything on you that this society has now become... Go back to Makai, where you are---"
"I cannot," Kur said sternly, their voice becoming lower, "I am not the weak star you knew from so long ago... I won't back down after they already know I survived and have become a black hole. I am seeking our resident's revenge and in the end, you are trying to prevent me from going further. I have learned so much from everyone around me... I know I was missing something 200 years ago but I am ready for whatever is thrown my way... Opinions from strangers do not matter to me... The support from the people I cherish and rely on do matter... But I also need support right now... as I stand now I have no way to go against a whole army of those shadows along with the two henchmen and their leader... Today we came seeking your help... So will you help us? Or will you decline our pleas for assistance?"
Burakku and Chuma sat there shocked hearing such things come from the docile Kur. For a long moment, everything was quiet before Burakku doubled over cackling. Chuma gave Burakku a concerned look before Burakku sat up, "I never thought to see the day where I see that hard look on that face... Very well," Burakku stood up before walking over to Kur and holding out his clawed hand, "I will join you and since you are much more mobile now... you can finally set sail on my ship that you always wanted to do but could not do before." Burakku gave a toothy grin and he and Kur shook hands, "besides where might you three beheading as I might be able to offer a ride there?"
"The Celestial Catacombs," Chuma answered as Burakku gave a sideways glance, "Emerald, the lumerian that was traveling with us was taking us there when we got sidetracked."
"I see," Burakku seemed to hesitate, "but that is much closer to the center of the universe and the Creator is seeking an audience with Kur... Who is the dead center of the Universe..."
"Creator wishes to see me?" Kur asked with a slight bit of excitement in their voice.
"Yes, a few nights ago I was pulled into a dream where the Creator spoke to me to bring Kur to them... At first, I thought the dream meant nothing important until Lenix spoke to me about hanging around so I grew more interested, and just meeting you today is when I realized that the Creator already knew that you were still alive and was giving me a head up... So Celestial Catacombs or go to Creator?"
"Well seeing how your Creator personally asked for Kur," Chuma stated, "then we should go see them immediately the Catacombs can wait as we received the information on what you wanted to know by what a Star becomes after they survived the destruction of their Star so now we can hold off on it for now... how long of a trip is it to the center of the Universe?" Chuma asked as Burakku folded his arms and held a clawed hand up to his chin.
Humming Burakku stated, "from where we are at this port to the Center would be a full week if that is too much... though my ship barely makes movements on the deck or insides as we sail if you don't have your sailing stomach..."
"No, that's fine but might we use a private room to rest?" Chuma asked as Burakku nodded his head.
"Yeah, sure I'll have my crew arrange sleeping quarters for you guys," Burakku smiled, "though I will probably group that lumarian with one of my female crew, Lilith just to keep decency's as some women can be very private with their personal spaces."
