Town of Transports
Third-person
~Back in Makai~
Velacera took a step closer to the gate before a hand reached over and grabbed his shoulder. Velacera looked up to see King Enma still standing there, "It is not safe for you to go through that portal Velacera... Kur and Chuma have already exited out of the portal. They will be fine. I have the utmost trust in both of them to manage on their own and you should too... Kur isn't the injured, weak Celestial they came here as they learned so much and gained so much here... think of it as to let a poor creature go to find their own story... as a novelist you should understand that as well, Velacera." King Enma gave a slight smirk.
"I understand, King Enma," Velacera's voice cracked, "But they are my friends and-" Velacera took off his glasses wiping the forming tears away.
"I understand you want to protect them, Velacera," King Enma sighed, kneeling to face Velacera as he placed both of his hands on Velacera's shoulders, "but remember it goes both ways. You reflect concern and worry and they will show it as well. You want to protect them, they want to protect you in turn. But this time they are protecting you because they know the dangers and can outsmart those dangers but they know you won't be able to keep up with them and can become a weakness and they don't want you to be in harm's way... but when the time comes they'll need your protection. That day will come eventually, be patient Velacera. Now come, we must move away from the portal as it has a mind of its own and will cause quite the scene." King Enma stood as Velacera wiped his remaining tears and placed his glasses back on the bridge of his nose and followed right behind King Enma as they headed back to the castle entrance.
"King Enma?" Velacera questioned as Enma looked around and hummed, "will you be letting Yog-Sothoth know about Kur's and Chuma's expedition?" King Enma hummed once more before looking at Velacera and answering Velacera's question.
"A letter will be sent out to both Yog-Sothoth and one addressing Kur's "creator" about this development in events. Do not stress yourself that these duties will be taken care of," Enma gave a small chuckle, "Go now and enjoy the rest of your day, I am sure everyone would want to know where Kur and Chuma have gone off to, an adventure to find closure... yes that sounds like a wonderful tale to hear for decades." Enma chuckled and waved as Velacera walked off to greet the others. "I hope they fare well in their quest to finally get some answers... You made the right call Kur and kept Velacera from coming... such a shame that you can only travel little ways into the Celestial terrain with my portal."
~In Transport Town~
Chuma huffed as he held the map out in front of both him and Kur. "Well, this map sure is outdated... King Enma did mention this was very old," Chuma turned the map sideways and huffed once more. Chuma gave a second to look up and see if anything looked similar to what was displayed on the map, "darn it, nothing is the same... I suppose this should be the perfect time to ask for help as this map won't help us in the slightest since everything has drastically changed here." Kur hummed and looked around.
"Should we now gather our voices and ask someone here about locations?" Kur asked as Chuma nodded, adjusting the saddle back on his shoulder. Chuma took a few steps as a slight disturbance sounded as there were shouts from behind as Kur grunted being pushed from behind a tad bit as both Chuma and Kur looked. A grunt came from the offender who had run into Kur, bright green hair swayed as they fell onto their bottom and rubbed their head.
"Ouch," came a sharp inhale from the greenette as they looked up to see Kur and Chuma staring at them. "I am soooo sorry there, misters," the feminine voice explained as they stood to their feet and bowed their heads a few times as the camera was revealed underneath the shawl they wore. "I didn't pay attention to where I was going. Sorry to bother you," they smiled as the shouts neared. Kur could make out a few words these beings were yelling and they didn't sound friendly. Giving a side glance to Chuma as he nodded, Kur grabbed the small Celestial and hid them behind them as Kur inconspicuously started a conversation with Chuma. The group ran by not even noticing Kur and Chuma and ran off in the other direction chasing after someone who was no longer in sight.
Once the area was clear of any shouts of that group Kur turned to the Celestial who was shocked beyond belief. "Well that was interesting," Chuma looked to where the group had run off, "what got their egos raised to chase after another?" Kur just shrugged as the one behind them stared in disbelief before shaking their head and stepping in front of Kur and Chuma.
"Thanks for the save," the feminine voice responded in glee, "the name Emerald. They got upset since I took their photo for a scoop my manager sent me to do... Sorry to involve you in this, this wasn't my intention." The Female rubbed her neck. Kur and Chuma looked at each other before Chuma nodded.
"It's quite alright," Chuma began opening the map, "but we do require such assistance as we don't know where to head off... We are looking for the Catacombs in a particular area but this map is very outdated and landmarks have changed it seems." Chuma held out the map towards the female as she got closer and looked at the map.
"Spectacular!" Emerald shouted but not loud enough to stop the drowning level of volume in the area, "this is the fifth generation map of Central Square where the mass is known as 'Creator' resides! This is so cool... How did you get your hands on one of the rarest maps in all of the terrestrial terrains?" Chuma fidgeted before clearing his throat.
"It was given to us as a means as a gift of good fortune to find the catacombs. They only mentioned it's a very outdated map, not its history," Chuma said as Emerald looked over the map with cautious eyes.
"To enter the catacombs here you have to be very close to the creator to be able to access them... Only a select few can... But the witch that guards it can tell who's allowed to see the catacombs or not... I know the directions to the catacombs but I can't guarantee that you'll be able to access the catacombs," Emerald smiled, pulling out a feather that was in her hair and reaching in the saddlebag pulling out a scroll parchment, and started to write on it. "Unfortunately my handwriting isn't the best but it should be clean enough to read directions," she finished writing, placing the feather back into her hair and handing Chuma the parchment.
Chuma took it before looking down before realizing she had written in broken 10th-century cleric. He did have basic knowledge of it but it was enough to read the directions. "Thank you, this helps some," Chuma nodded his head, "and please do be careful while running stories as some can turn deadly." Emerald nodded her head, closing her saddlebag.
"Thank you so much for the help and I'll keep that in mind," Emerald smiled standing straight and bringing her right hand close to her head and saluted Kur and Chuma before turning around and began running, "I gotta go but I hope you find what you are looking for!" She had already disappeared into the crowd before they could even say anything. Chuma and Kur gave a puzzled look to each other before Chuma looked over the instructions that Emerald had left.
"Well, this is the very description of directions," Chuma noted before rolling up the old map and placing it in the saddlebag and huffing, "well it seems that we have ways to travel, Kur." Chuma looked down at the parchment and looked around, "So we have to get on a few spirit trains towards the furthest district here," Chuma held up the parchment sighing, "then we walked from that point forward... how in the world do you walk in celestial terrain?!" Chuma gave a confused shout making Kur twitch, flinching at the tone of the lich's voice.
"I suppose there are walkways like how it is in Makai?" Kur inquired looking around, "Celestial's have legs and have mobility so it shouldn't be very much different than the mortal realm." Chuma sighed before looking back at Kur.
"I guess that is logic," Chuma rolled up the parchment before placing it into his saddlebag, "well from what she wrote the train station isn't going to be open for much longer... we should get going if we want to make it for the last train for the day." Chuma adjusted his hat before taking a step forward, Kur following silently behind him.
~~~Time Skip~~~
Chuma took off his plague mask, hooking it to the side, "It's very strange that the Celestial Terrain has no pollen levels. Not even a single speck of pollen is floating in the air? The celestial terrain sure has its own meaning of spring." Kur gave a puzzled look before they finished walking down the street to the ticket booth to get the tickets for the one train.
"Are you allergic to pollen, Chuma?" Kur asked curiously. As Chuma nodded and opened his bag to also put away a cloth he had around his face.
"Yes, I grew up in the coldest of climates and never really had any form of vegetation grow so I never grew an immunity to the pollen. When I moved to study I witnessed what a disaster my allergies were. It started as an irritation of the nasal until I started to sneeze violently and ever since I have worn a cloth mask or my plague mask or even doubled as it does hurt after a while," Chuma spoke in a monotone manner as he looked at the signs and sighing, "this must be 21st generation cleric description judging on the way they wrote them so the booth for this train we are supposed to take," Chuma hummed looking at the signs.
There was a sudden wham of solid oak doors being pushed open. Everyone that was in the plaza froze and looked at where the sound came from to see a Lumerian being thrown out and the solid oak doors slammed shut once more. The Lumeian stood to their feet and shouted at the door, "fine be that way. I am tired of risking my life for the scoop. I'll create a newspaper ten times your ratings and put you out of business... I quit, you didn't fire me!" The voice sounded familiar to Kur and Chuma. Before realizing that they moved. They were both standing behind the angered Lumerian. Emerald sighed as she dusted her clothes off and sighed heavily. "Well, there goes my income..."
"I am assuming that was your workplace?" Chuma spoke from behind Emerald, making her jump. She turned around to see Kur and Chuma.
"Oh! It's you two again," she gave a smile, "sorry about that scene... it seems like I didn't get the cut and the boss got angry." She scratched the back of her neck. Chuma raised an eyebrow before sighing.
"We never introduced ourselves earlier," Chuma cleared his throat, "I'm Chuma and the one beside me is Kur. You gave us directions earlier and if memory serves me correctly you told us that your name is Emerald?" Emerald nodded her head with excitement.
"That's me!" Emerald said with enthusiastic energy, "I'm an inspiring writer, and now I was just fired from my only income because my boss is a narcissistic butt munch!" Kur and Chuma gave a shared look. In thought, they were thinking about how she could be so enthusiastic about being fired.
"So your instructions were a tad bit confusing. Do you mind helping us to the train's gates?" Chuma had to speak as Kur had zoned out as he nudged him. Kur snapped back into focus and curiously looked at Kur. "Do you mind explaining it a bit more in detail?"
Emerald frowned before her eyes light up before smiling, "I can do even better! This must be your first time out of your comfort zones. And since I no longer have a job, I can be your personalized tour guide!" Chuma looked at Kur then back to Emerald before nodding his head.
"Very well, lead the way," Chuma gestured as Emerald excitedly started walking forward and spoke the whole way to the ticket booth. Chuma was prepared to pay but Emerald held out a silver coin and the one behind the booth gave a nod and handed Chuma three boarding tickets. "So want to explain that silver coin?" Chuma asked as they walked to the platform.
"So this coin is a passport here in the Celestial terrain," Emerald said, clasping the buckle of the bag she wore on her side, "since I traveled a lot I was required to have one so it comes in handy." She smirked and pointed to the train stopping and letting others into the train, "that's our train we should hurry."
Boarding the train and taking the first available seats that were situated at the back they finally left the train station. It was strange but Kur felt a tinge of pain. Chuma noticed it but felt it wasn't as bad to take note as he knew Kur had grown attached to Makai and it's slowly making sense to Kur.
