Shadows Lingering
Coming upon a mansion Chuma stopped to look up and observe, "Do Celestials always have divine structural buildings?" Kur shrugged their shoulders as it seemed like it was basically normal for them, "the way you are acting tells me you find this building normal... then again you never left your star before now."
"We should head in and try to find the Star of this solar system," Kur hummed as they looked at Chuma, "their life is the one in danger if the corrupted Celestials are following a pattern of destroying potential fighting chances."
"But why Celestial Star's," Chuma asked as Kur pressed a hand against the heavy dark oak door, "why target them? Celestial Star's cannot move unless their Star changes position and/or moves with gravity." Kur gave a side glance before sighing.
"Truthfully the Creator made it so that we could not move on our free will as the scenario such as the mortals nicknamed the big bang theory happened as Star's had free-roaming and something tragic such as destruction of the greater Star's fought... It is hushed in the books as it is a scar and a tragedy for Creator as they became their position from it... there has always been a creator just that most of existence is basically erased in able for the next Creator to be formed," Kur looked away and frowned, "I was destined to become the next creator when the current Creator wishes to step down... but this universe is too young as we speak."
"Why is it forbidden to be discussed?" Chuma asked, noticing Kur's behavior. Kur shook their head as they pushed the doors open, basically ignoring Chuma's question, "is it having to do with how our theory of the big bang happened?"
"That is not my place to answer those things... many of the stars you see are the reincarnations of the old universe in response to the loss of those Creator treasured... though it is rumored that I was created in their image as a means of parenting a child though I only chopped it up to rumors but receiving those letters through Yog-Sothoth it sort of proves the rumors true, but I believe this wasn't what anyone suspected nor did Creator create more like it's another force forcing their way through to send a twisted message."
"So there were no Corrupted Celestials before the Big Bang," Chuma hummed as they walked through the door as the door closed automatically after they fully entered the mansion, "but that doesn't explain why they think destroying the Celestial Star's makes any sense? If their designs are to make them unable to move freely, what is the purpose of killing them off?"
"Well, from what Creator told me in their letters if anything were to happen to Creator themselves then the automatic defense will make all Celestial Star's gather back to them to defend them from being destroyed as it means to the destruction of reality for everyone... The Celestial Star's are Creators the last line of existence come to the threat of their existence," Kur frowned as they walked further into the mansion, "Our numbers stand a great deal against the enemy as though an ant to a grasshopper. Celestial Star's have unknown strength and powers they do not show, many Star's don't wish to be flashy with their powers so many are unknown, especially with dull stars, like me."
Chuma stopped midstep recognizing what Kur had said. Kur was the Neverland Star though still visible but was very dull. Chuma's eyes widened, "You had the potential to destroy the enemy with one blast but since it wasn't the last resort-"
"I couldn't nor had the heart to do so," Kur stopped a few steps in front of Chuma before turning around to look at Chuma, "I witnessed my star's residence murdered in cold blood but couldn't do anything but stare in shock and rage growing... destroying my own star, though I do not what I am now as I am without the accessory on my head no more but yet I still live by sheer luck and with the help of Velacera and everyone back in Makai I stand here wishing to seek answers and to avenge to those lives I couldn't save... I wish to save this star from the same fate I faced as they will not be lucky."
Chuma nodded his head as Kur turned around and began to walk once more. Chuma followed silently noting the textures and structure patterns. Coming upon the open area after the long hallway. Walking into the opening Chuma could hear very young voices cheering and laughing and chatting. "What is this?" Chuma asked as Kur's eyes narrowed and sorrowed.
"This star is Akumu no-Kage.... the star for those young ones who were lost or forgotten... they are the orphanage star," Kur softly spoke as young ones came running up to them and started staring at them curiously. "These young ones will be gone if we don't do something to help," Kur bowed their head as the shadowing covered their facial expression. It clicked for Chuma now why Kur was so set on trying to stop anything from happening to this star.
"Is this a normal behavior that you use to have Kur?" Chuma asked as he only watched as Kur nodded before Kur kneeled letting the young ones hug them and climb all over them, "I see..."
"Now now don't clutter our new guest, they must come in further if you so wish to play," a honey melody voice spoke out, looking up they saw Akumu no-Kage (without the big scar), "now that the children have gained new attention might you introduce yourselves?"
Kur bowed slightly and placed their hand over their chest, "my name is Kur and my companion Chuma... we are merely passing by but it seems it has gotten dark and only wish for some shelter from the nightmare mist." Chuma went wide-eyed as he knew Kur had created a scenario in which many will offer hospitality.
"The Nightmare mist is still clinging to the area?" Akumu frowned, "very well I will see that the children are on their best behaviors so you two can get some rest away from the nightmare mist." A demon ran up as Chuma made a guess that this demon appeared to be a teenager, "Kagome can you show them to the guest rooms?" The teenager named Kagome nodded and motioned for them to follow her.
Chuma whispered, "Was that a lie you told back there?" Kur looked over and shook his head, "then what did you do?" Kur sighed.
Whispering back Kur said, "no one else knows I am still alive, the only one that controlled the Nightmare mist from ever reaching this far in the Celestial terrain. It's more likely they will offer shelter from the nightmare mist as they wish no harm to those who are traveling... Many of these orphans are from the backgrounds of families traveling but either getting lost or having families killed by the nightmare mist. So it would only be logical for one to offer shelter so that way there won't be an increase of orphans in the near future... or that is what I gathered from observing."
"You are catching on," Chuma hummed, "you are observing and calculating every move. Now, do you understand what I am saying now?" Kur nodded as Kagome stopped in front of a door and smiled.
"This room has everything for separate living quarters, everything from a small kitchen, living room, and a decent size dining area," she spoke, her voice sounding of heavy wooden wind chimes, "please enjoy our fine estate until the nightmare mist passes," she bowed before walking away.
"Very well mannered," Chuma noted as Kur opened the door of the quarters, "so back to what we were discussing, travelers were known to be caught up into the nightmare mist and ended up missing or dead?"
"Yes, as what Emerald showed us on her tablet," Kur traced the lining on the armchair in thought, "so now trains are issued to be stopped every time the mist crosses the path even if it's miles away from the train. I may have gotten rid of one. There must be plenty more due to how much hate and envy has been brewing around... the nightmare mist feeds off those emotions." Kur frowned sitting down. "Though now we should lay low until the corrupted ones come... knowing them they are waiting until everyone is relaxed and is settling down for the evening."
Chuma raised an eyebrow, "just like how it happened to you?" Kur nodded again as they merely relaxed into the seat and closed their eyes, "they are even more pathetic than I thought... so you are just going to pretend to relax until they attack?"
"Yes, as they will look for activity so reading or simple tasks won't be noticed as they won't pick it up and will think everyone has laid down for the evening," Kur opened their eyes and merely looked at the large window that was pointing out to the dark skies, "I may have been too late to save my Star but I won't let the same fate happen to another, and that I swear my oath to keep as I will put the fear to an end."
