Death?- Epilogue (Part 2)
Continued from last chapter
I cut over the old scar, watching the blood bubble over and drip down my arm. I hear footsteps, and before I can clean the blood, Makayla is walking into my room, holding a letter.
She stares at me, and then looks at the blood, and then rushes out of the room. She returns with paper towels. She forces me to sit down as she cleans the wound.
I wince as she runs the paper towel over the cut, and Makayla notices, because she says, “Of course this is going to hurt, Eli.. You cut your arm pretty deep. You might need stitches, so we’ll go do that in just a minute..”
I don’t respond, instead I just lay my head low, not wanting to be here at all. “I’m sorry…” I finally say, as Makayla finishes cleaning my arm.
She hoists me off the bed, and walks me out of the room. “I could have just cleaned it with magic…” I say, not meeting her glare. “But would you have? Besides, magic can only heal so much.”
Days Later
Finishing the note, the song changes. I lay the note on the desk, and pause my music. I open my messages app, and text all of my contacts a custom message. After the last message, I take a rope into my hands. I tie it like I had practiced so many times before. I attach it to the hook I placed in the ceiling. I turn my phone off, and step up to the rope. I take a deep breath. I start to put the rope around my neck as the door to the dorm opens. I hear multiple voices, and I quickly take the rope off of the ceiling. I shove it under my bed, along with my note as my bedroom door opens to reveal Jace, Grace, Richard, Dusk, Tori, Estorra, Theo, Makayla, and a few people I do not recognise. I haven’t really talked to any of them in a few weeks, so they must have heard about me harming myself once again. I don’t meet any of their harsh glares, instead turning my phone on. “Eli.” I hear one of them, Jace, say. Not replying, I put my phone on the bed. “I’m sure you know why we are here.” I notice Makayla leave the room, and I sigh. “No, I don’t know why you’re here.” I lie, trying my best to hold back the tears that beg to be released from my eyes. Obviously, Jace didn’t believe my lie, or spotted the rope from underneath my bed. He sighs, and sits down next to me. I notice the rest of the group, including the people who I have never seen before, have sat down on the ground. Jace takes my arm, and rolls up my sleeve, revealing the cuts from just hours ago, no longer bloody. “How recent are these..?” I don’t want to reply, so I stay quiet. He gets the hint, and sighs again. “Eli.. Were you about to kill yourself?..” I stay silent, not meeting the disapproving glares from all over the room. “Eli..” A slightly more feminine voice says. Grace’s voice. I had avoided talking to her for the longest time. It’s almost ironic, how she kept me alive for so long, yet when she rejected me and here I am, ready to die. “It’s my fault.. Isn’t it?..” I shake my head in reply, still not meeting anyones eye.
Later
Eventually, everyone leaves, and I am once again left alone.
I take the note from underneath my bed, and place it on my desk. I take the rope, and attach it to the ceiling once again. I turn my phone off, and write the password on the back of the note. I put the rope around my neck, taking in a large breath. I kick the chair out from underneath me, and the world goes black as I hear Makayla yell that dinner was ready.
THE END
(maybe a sequel soon?)
