(12) Shattered Lens

Cory's POV
I was sitting on a chair, ropes tied around my stomach, chest, and arms, keeping me roughly in place. I had just fallen asleep, and so had Uni, I'm guessing. He sat next to me, in the same position as me. He glared daggars at Duni as he watched him with a smirk. I glared at Cory, hatred clear in my blue-green gaze. Dory smirked more, "What? Are you mad?" He teased darkly. I said nothing, I only bared my teeth at him. Dory chuckled darkly, "Awe, why are you giving me the silent treatment?" He pouted fakely, and I just rolled my eyes in annoyance.

"Hehe, what Uni, you didn't enjoy our little romance?" Duni teased darkly. Uni snarled, "It was a nightmare." He hissed. Duni smiled, "Good to hear!" He exclaimed. Uni stared at him, "You sadistic perv." He growled. Duni frowned, "Oh hush, that's rude." He commented. Uni smirked, "Oh, what? Did I hurt your widdle feewings?" Uni cooed teasingly. Duni bared his sharp teeth, his eyes blazing. He and Dory looked at each other, then they both smiled and nodded a bit. Duni formed a knife in his hand, and Dory did the same. "It's about time we begin." Duni growled with a smirk.

Fear flashed in my gaze for a single moment, but it was soon replaced by defiance. Duni walked up to Uni and put the knife to his throat. He smiled darkly and began to slowly slide the knife across his throat. Unis breath hitched, but he said nothing. Duni's knife left a cut across Uni's throat. It wasn't deep enough to kill, but it did draw blood. Uni's face twisted his disgust as he felt the warm blood drip from his neck. Duni smiled, "Isn't this fun, dear friend?" He questioned. "It's a blast." Uni growled sarcastically.

Dory turned to me, smiling physchotically. He held his knife up, his red eye blazing. He brought the knife down, slashing my cheek roughly. I flinched quietly as pain flared up in my cheek, and I felt warm, sticky blood dripping down my face. I saw triumph flash in Dory's red eye, even through his cracked lense, which black sludge still leaked out of. I bared my teeth at him, and Dory seemed to enjoy that. I glanced at Uni, and saw him staring back at me sadly. He shook his head slightly at me, as if telling me not to respond.

"Oh, what is it? Are you angry about yesterday?" Dory teased. I glared at him, but said nothing. "You're just mad that you didn't get that first kiss that you've been hoping for...Duni took it." Dory said with a smirk. Rage pulsed through my body, and I began to tremble in untamed rage. Dory twisted the knife around in his fingers, "Why would want to kiss you anyway?" He continued. He looked at me with a smirk, he leaned down to my eye level, his hands propped on his knees. "You should just accept that he'll never kiss you, idiot...He'll never love you..." He hissed quietly. I felt something in me snap, and I suddenly was overrun with rage. "SHUT UP!" I screamed, kicking my leg up as hard as I could. My shoes made rough contact with his broken lense, and a loud crack split the air as his lense was shattered by my shoes. "Gah!!" Dory screamed, stumbling back. He held his hands to his broken lense as black sludge poured out of his shattered lense. "DORY!!!" Duni screamed, running to his side. Duni turned to us, glaring daggars at us, "BYE!" He screamed roughly, and pain filled my body as large, shadowy daggars pierced through my body, and the world faded around me before I even knew what was happening.

Dory's POV
I stumbled back, pressing my hands against my newly-shattered lens. My breath came in huffs and uneven gasps. I couldn't see anything, everything was black. Pain erupted from my face, and I gasped, falling to my knees. I let out quiet cries and sobs of pain and confusion. I felt the black liquid covering my hands and shirt, and my breathing quickened, then I became aware of Duni's loud voice, screaming my name pleadingly.
"Dory!" He cried, and I felt his rough, talony hands on me shoulders, and I sensed him kneeling infront of me.

"D-Duni.." I stuttered. "I-It hurts.... I can't see..." I croaked, trying to keep the black sludge from all leaking out of my lens. I felt Duni's hands leave my shoulders, and I heard him stand up. "Dory...I'll be back in a moment...Stay put." He said. "N-No..." I cried, but he was already gone. "D-Don't leave me alone..." I cried. "I'm scared...." I whined, sounding like a lost child. I was blind, and in pain, and the only thing I could hear was my heartbeat, along with the soft splashing of the sludge that was falling onto the ground ftom my lens.

I was trembling uncontrollably by the time that Duni returned. He knelt down infront of me. "Okay, Dory, don't worry...You're going to be okay..." He whispered calmly, which calmed me a bit. "Now, this may sting a little bit." He warned quietly, and I nodded. "O-Okay..." I stuttered. I felt his hard talons touch my lense, and he gripped onto it roughly, his talons digging into it, and he began to twist. I let out a yelp of pain, his talons grinding against my lense. He flinched back a bit, then I heard him sigh. "These stupid things won't do..." He muttered, and he let go of my lense.

A moment later I felt him grab the lense again, but instead of his hard, sharp talons...I felt soft, yet strong, fingers softky grab my lense. He began to twist it, unscrewing it. Is hurt a but, but not to bad. I felt him place a soft hand against the hole that the removed lense had left. I heard him grab something, and removed his hand from over the hole, but quickly pressed something else on it. He began to screw the object in, and I realized that it was a new lens.

After a moment, Duni finished his work, and he took his hands off of my face. "Okay Dory, can you open your eye for me please?" He questioned. I nodded, slowly opening my eye. The lens was blurry for a moment, but it focused rather quickly. When it focused, I saw Duni on his knees infront of me. He was smiling a triumphant, yet relieved smile. I glanced at his hands, and they looked like normal human hands, except they were pitch black, covered with the black sludge ftom my lens. His red sweater was covered with the blackness aswell, and some was splashed and smudged on his face. "Does it work?" He questioned. I nodded, "Thank you..." I whispered, releaved. Duni smiled, "No problem." I reached my hand up to touch my new lens, and I was suprised to feel that it didn't have a crack in it like the other one. Duni noticed my suprise, "I figured that it could help you see better, and it'd be harder for anyone to break..." He said, sounding shy, almost.

I smiled, and without even thinking, I grabbed Duni and pulled him into a hug. He stiffened, as if this was a new experience for him. He was hesitant, but after a moment, he began to softly hug back. "Thank you...I was so scared..." I whispered, and Duni just hugged me tighter. "It's alright...It's all better now...." He whispered, and I was suprised by the calm, sweetness of his voice. It was something that I didn't expect to come from the usually tough leader.
