A Time Of Peace

Y/n
One year after Jimin lost his powers, life improved.
He never spoke of the powers he had lost, instead opting to ignore it and dodge any deep conversations about it. That was understandable. Losing a major part of yourself was traumatizing. Y/n would know; she had gone through it more times than she cared to admit. Ever since, she hadn't wanted to acknowledge them in her own mind, let alone share those feelings out loud. So, she never pried. She figured if he wanted to talk about it, he would.
They continued living in the trashy house her father used to own in Hershey. But she had renovated it. It had far more life to it than before, and while it was still tiny and not suitable for the long-term, it had charm. Plus, it was her dad's. That meant she would take care of it with every fiber of her being.
The bedroom remained the same as before with countless One Direction posters littering the walls. Jimin, at first, had used to whine about them, but he began loving them over time. That was yet another thing Y/n never inquired about. How he went from hating to loving everything she did was beyond her, but she wouldn't complain about that.
Speak of the devil...
"My beautiful girl," Jimin whispered, kissing up her neck and wrapping his arms around her waist, the bed creaking under his weight. "You smell so fucking good."
And so did he. Peaches. It had been roses back in the day, but the more time went on, the more he smelled like peaches. Oh, and hash browns. Who could forget the hash browns? As it turned out, giving up his demon powers hadn't cured his gluttonous rampages against the poor potatoes. He could still wolf down a dozen in one sitting. Problem was he gained weight easier. Well, that wasn't a problem in Y/n's eyes, but to Jimin, he had forgotten about how human bodies changed and had a few panic attacks over it. So even though he could pound down more hash browns than the average person, he opted against it and exercised often, just in case.
"So do you, Minnie."
Jimin kissed her cheek, burying his head against her neck. "I want to fuck your brains out."
Yet another thing that hadn't changed: his hormones. If anything, him no longer being an incubus made him hornier. How was that possible? Y/n had no idea, but Jimin talked about "fucking her brains out" every waking moment of the day. She didn't mind. That made their relationship better, in her opinion. Someone wanted her. Someone wanted to cherish her body instead of...
She sighed and shifted her head to kiss the top of his. The bedroom was dark with blackout curtains pulled over the otherwise sunny summer day in Hershey. They preferred to sleep in most days. With her being rich and Jimin having no actual working experience, they opted to live off of Y/n's dad's money, of which there was plenty. Y/n did side hustles for fun, like cleaning and dog-sitting, but those were for building a savings account of several thousand in case anything happened to her primary source of cash.
"You look so damn beautiful."
Jimin kissed her lips, and then her nose, and then her jaw. He went lower, but not so low that it turned sexual. Despite him being the type to say "I want to fuck your brains out" at least twelve times a day, they didn't do the deed every day, it was more like every other, and Jimin preferred to be intimate in another way. If Y/n were to guess, it was because he had spent centuries sleeping around, but he hadn't spent much time being held. Y/n changed that. Sex could commence from two horny people at any time of day, but being held by someone who cared about you was far rarer. That was why Y/n held Jimin a little tighter that day.
"I love you so much," he mumbled, his hands roaming her back but being careful not to go under her t-shirt. Well, his t-shirt. She preferred wearing his white t-shirts. All he did was wear that lacy, long-sleeved shirt, so it wasn't like his other clothes ever got put to use.
"I love you, too." She brought his face up to kiss him, and it ended with them making out for a hot minute. She lost track of exactly how long, but it had to be a good two to five minutes before Jimin stopped and went back to cuddling with her.
For some reason, he had been more clingy than usual the past month. Maybe it was because he wasn't used to long-term relationships and the one-year anniversary had him realizing things about himself and his life. But what mattered most was Jimin was enjoying life. Mortality. Something he likely couldn't have imagined last year, and Y/n couldn't be prouder.
"Do you want to go to the mall and buy nothing?" Jimin asked, his voice still low as he spoke into her ear.
"Buy nothing? What's the point of going, then?"
"So I can see you in those cute little outfits you always wear." He devoured her with more kisses, and they ended up rolling around in bed with Y/n laughing and Jimin planting his lips wherever he could on her skin. "God, I'll never get enough of you."
"I can tell." She brought his eyes up to meet hers, chuckling in the process. "You're especially clingy today. Everything okay?"
"Are you complaining?"
"Well, no, but-"
"Then shh. Let me love you, baby."
Jimin went back to doing whatever he could to get close to her. She swore it felt like he was trying to pry her skin apart and climb inside, that was how desperate he was. But she didn't mind. Not often in her life could she say someone wanted her, let alone wanted in a romantic way, so she sucked in each and every moment.
"We should check on Harry. He's gonna get mad if we spend all morning making out," she said, and Jimin groaned.
"But I wouldn't get mad."
"But Harry."
Jimin sighed. "I miss the good ole days, back when that dude, what's his name, Namjoon? Yeah, back when that Namjoon dude stole him."
Y/n tilted her head at that. "Namjoon didn't steal him. Taehyung did. Namjoon just bought Harry at the store, that's all."
"Right, right, that's what I meant. Sorry. Forgot. The details get fuzzy sometimes."
Jimin sat up and stretched, and Y/n stayed quiet while reflecting on what Jimin had said. How had he forgotten his best friend had stolen Harry? Jimin had watched Y/n try to beat Taehyung's ass as a result. Odd thing to forget.
Jimin glanced back when Y/n didn't speak. "What?"
"You forgot your best friend stole Harry?"
"I was a demon for like a thousand some years, Y/n. Our memories are unreliable, even with me being mortal now. Plus, Taehyung isn't my best friend. I haven't even talked to him in like a year."
Well, she supposed that made sense, but she was concerned nonetheless. He was mortal. Memory problems couldn't be chalked down to being a demon, and if Jimin had trouble remembering things, she should know. Perhaps they could fix it before it got too bad.
"If you're having memory problems, I should know. That's serious, Minnie. You're not a demon anymore, so you should be normal, right?"
"Babe, demon or not, I'm never gonna be normal." Jimin craned his head back to peck her lips. "I'm fine, really. Just a slip of the tongue. I remember everything after I was a demon perfectly, it's just the demon memories that can get hazy sometimes, and that makes perfect sense, right?"
"If you say so, but please be honest if it starts getting hard. There's no shame in struggling, Jimin. Please tell me whenever you feel any memory problems, okay?"
He stroked her cheek and smiled. "I will. Promise. I love you."
"You said that before."
"I know, but it's true. I love you, Y/n."
"Me too."
Jimin snorted and hopped off the bed to go to Harry and take care of them. Ever since he had become human, Jimin had been more attached to Harry. Maybe more than Y/n herself, which astonished her, to say the least.
She followed him to the kitchen and saw Jimin feeding Harry carrots and petting the pig's fur. Harry squeaked and leaned into Jimin's touch. That gave her the opportunity to refill Harry's water and food, and by the time she finished, Jimin turned to her and pointed toward the front door.
"I was serious before. We should go out today and do something. To celebrate you sticking with me for so long."
"Like I could ever say no to you," she said, pinching his cheek and making him scowl before closing up Harry's cage and scouring the fridge for a quick snack.
Jimin didn't speak the whole time, so Y/n shifted to face him only to see him gazing at her, much softer than before. His body was relaxed as it slumped against the counter, his eyes widened by a hair while they traveled up and down her face, stopping at her lips.
"Do you think anything will ever tear us apart?" he asked, though it sounded... sudden, almost. Like he didn't intend to say it.
That question had her halting, even as she held a pack of stringy cheese sticks she wanted to gobble up. Never in her life did she think Park Jimin would have any insecurities or doubts, but there she was, witnessing it firsthand. Part of her wanted to again ask if he was okay, but she decided against it. What mattered most was reassuring him, and with a smile, that was exactly what she did.
"No. Never."

A/N: Some people are going to be ecstatic, others are going to be frustrated, but the theme of this story was in the disclaimer, so...
No, Jimin is not going to get a redemption arc.
The entire point of this story is commentary on how attractive men, especially in BTS fanfics, can do horrible things and be romanticized. Meanwhile, other characters, but particularly female characters, can do minor things 2% as bad as what the BTS members did and be hated.
So that means it's also commentary on how Y/n characters are treated. Y/n here is far from a perfect person, and she lost her dad days before the story started. Of course she was going to make emotional, irrational decisions. She is away from her sister and lost her father, who she was very close to. All she really has going for her is Harry, and Jimin took him, too. But even if she wasn't going through tragedy, she should be allowed to make bad decisions here and there. It's human.
If a Y/n character is not always making the 100% "correct" decisions, she gets hated on. I've noticed such a giant surge of hatred toward Y/n characters for not being perfect. If you aren't a perfect person, then why should Y/n be? If you're willing to get all soft when BTS members make mistakes in fanfics, why is it suddenly a 180 when Y/n characters make mistakes?
And when I say "you," I don't mean the readers of this story since I haven't noticed any hatred toward Y/n here. It's more a generalization of common trends I've seen in BTS fanfics, so that is why Jimin is not going to get a redemption arc here.
He doesn't deserve it.
Some people may love that, others may hate that, and that's okay because it's fiction, and I want my writing to inspire [respectful] discussions. Either way, I wanted to leave this a/n because the story is wrapping up with just a few chapters left, and I want to make it clear that what I warned about in the disclaimer did not change.
I knew going into it that writing an incubus story with A) zero smut and B) no redemption arc for said incubus was going to cause problems, and I accept that, but I'm not going to keep my writing safe. I write on Wattpad so I can push the boundaries, and I'm honestly happy with the work I've done, especially considering I have an atypical mafia story coming soon where it's a twist on the tropes. Instead of mafia BTS kidnapping Y/n, Y/n accidentally kidnaps mafia BTS, and that story is... well, it's going to be fucked up, to say the least.
Anyway, as a writer, sometimes I don't get to share my personal thoughts on my stories often and that task falls more onto the reader, so I just wanted to share my thought process while writing the story.
And, also, it should go without saying that this story isn't meant to demonize Jimin in any way, shape, or form. Everyone who knows me knows I adore and respect him with all my heart. This is strictly fiction, please do not mix it with reality. Jimin is an absolute angel, and he deserves the world and so much more.
Thank you for reading this chapter, and if you read this a/n of my incoherent thoughts, thank you. I appreciate open-mindedness as I experiment with my writing and try new topics that are less common on this site.
