Chapter nine: A forgotten whisper
Ban and King stared at the thing calling itself Echo, as it flung itself at them. They quickly jumped out of the way; just barely missing it.
"You want to go kid?" Ban laughed.
"Kid? What's that?" The thing said turning to look at him.
"Ban, don't mess with that thing. I don't think it's human." King yelled at his comrade.
"Well neither are you." Ban retorted, which earned a knife to the head from King.
"Ice spike." Echo said casting his spell below the two.
A giant spike of ice appeared below the two, King got out of the way but Ban was impaled. Ban coughed up blood and broke the spike. When he was released from the ice he quickly wiped away the blood on his mouth.
"Oh, you want to play dirty. Well then let's play dirty." Ban said as he lunged at the thing.
"Idiot." King said under his breath. He moved his hand swiftly, "Chastifold second configuration: Guardian." The big green bear stopped Ban in his tracks.
"What are you doing?!" Ban yelled trying to get out of the bear's grasp.
"We need to find the captain." King said floating near by. "We don't have time to fight this thing."
The green bear started to walk towards King, with Ban in its grasp. King floated as the bear walked in the opposite direction of Echo. Before the two could get far though, ice rained down on the bear and Ban.
"Your not leaving." The thing growled at the two. "Bloody Hail."
A giant magic circle appeared above the area the three stood. Hail tinted with a dark shade a red, rained down on the two. King blocked, and Ban just stood there and took it.
The hail had stopped and Ban had healed, the two turned their head to face Echo. An eerie smile covered Echo's face along with a dead looking stare.
"I don't think that thing's going to let us go." Ban said.
"I guess we have no choice then. Chastifold fifth configuration, increase." The spirit spirit changed into many small knives.
King held the knives above Echo, while Ban stormed at the thing. Echo contorted it's body around Ban as he made impact. This trapped Ban in it's grip.
Ban used his strength to throw the thing away from him. When he did this, King unleashed the Knives on it. Many of them cut through causing blood to squirt everywhere.
One of the knifes cut off the thing's shirt, revealing many stab wounds that showed black dried blood. Wounds that looked like they have been there for mouths if not years. Along with the stab wounds was a magic circle glowing on it's chest.
It bleed dried black blood and glowed a dark red.
The thing didn't fall to the ground from the attack. Knives were sticking out of it, wounds bleed black blood, and holes covered it's body. But it didn't fall, a smile covered it face still.
"What the hell!" Ban yelled.
"Chastifold forth configuration, Sunflower!" The knives started to transform into a giant sunflower.
The flower released a giant glowing light that covered the child. Every bit of the child started to fade away, as it fell.
The dark red magic circle stopped glowing and disappeared. The child's body just lay there as it started to disintegrate.
"Sweet release." A sad girl's voice escaped the child's body. "Rest in peace, poor child. The darkness will haunt you no longer."
The child that once fought Ban and King has disappeared into the air. It's life disappeared into the escape of nothingness.
"What was that thing?" Ban asked.
"I don't know." King's voice sounded slightly distant and lost. "We better go find Captain," he turned and started to float away.
Then out of nowhere King fell to the ground unconscious. Ban rushed over to see what had happened, he noticed slight cuts on the Fairy King's body. He sighed and tossed King over his shoulder.
"Idiot." Ban said walking away.
What Ban didn't see or know was a small spirit like being had entered those wounds on King's body. Now King was being controlled by the being called Echo. A being of darkness.

When King "woke up", he looked around and noticed he was in an endless abyss of white. Nothing was in the abyss, and it was silent. That was until King heard soft crying.
He walked to where the crying came from. There sat the kid he had just fought and killed, his body curled up into a ball. He looked weak and frail. Tears streamed down his face, along with soft whimpers exiting his mouth.
"Are you alright?" King tried to touch the child's shoulder, but when he did it started to disappear.
"That won't work." King turned around and saw a young girl. Her hair a highlighter blue, eyes light green, and she wore very old looking clothes. Her eyes looked sadly at the child in front of them.
"What's wrong with him?"
She sighed, "His soul is disappearing. His body has died and now Echo's hold over him is gone. Now Echo's hold is over you." The girl said.
"Echo? What's Echo." King asked.
"Echo is a demon and a spirit, she possesses someone's body and uses any magic they have. She has lived for centuries. When you killed her body, she seeped her spirit into you. Now she can control you, that's why you're here. When she takes control of someone they appeared here. An endless abyss of nothingness where they go insane." The girl explained sadly.
"Then how are you here?"
"I was Echo's first and main host. She is part of me, she is the demon that appeared when I died and came back to life. She doesn't wish to hurt anyone, to be honest. She is my will manifested; all she wants is Naya." The girl said.
"Naya?" King whispered under his breath.
"Echo will now possess your body until it dies. That is how the cycle goes. Sad really." The girl started to walk in the opposite direction.
"Wait, is there any way to stop this?" King yelled for her.
"There is one, but it won't do anything; Echo always cheats. She will do anything. You don't have to worry, soon Naya will be back. After that you will probably have no use to her." The girl's voice sad.
"Who are you?"
The girl turns, a tear starts to stream down her face. She quickly wipes it away as she walks towards King.
"My name has been long since forgotten, even I have lost the feeling of the word. I do not know, my family doesn't know, only Naya and the gods know that. Everyone has called my spirit Echo, for many centuries. But she is a different spirit altogether. All I am is a lost voice, forgotten whispers in the world.
You though, you are Harlequin King of the Fairies. You come from the Fairy King's forest in the kingdom of Britannia. You are the bear son of sloth, a strong member in the seven deadly sins." Her voice dull and lifeless, though somewhat resembling Gowther's also.
"How to you know that?" King asked more interested than anything.
"I told her." An echoey voice said as a dark silhouette appeared behind the girl. The shape perfectly resembling the girl.
"Echo." King growled.
"Such a beautiful being to possess. Such powers, and such a history." Echo's voice almost mimicked the girls.
"Let me out of here!" King yelled.
"What a funny creature." Echo laughed as she hung off of the girl's shoulders.
"If she lets you out, you will be a wondering spirit. You will have no power to control your body, and be lost forever. Even if we leave and the body still lives, you will he cast out." The girl said, as Echo whispered in her ear.
"That'd be better than in here!" King yelled.
The endless abyss echoed his outburst causing the sound to distort. The silhouette of Echo moved to in front of King. Even though he couldn't see it, he knew an eerie smile was upon her face. A shiver went down his back.
"Okay, a game then. If you win we'll leave, if you lose you'll be forced out. Sound fair?" The echoey voice asked.
"Echo, please..." the girl said.
Echo turned to the girl and whispered something to her. Tears started to stream down her face, as she remained quiet.
"What's the game?" King asked.
"The game is simple, it's a game of truth. All we do is state things that are true about the other person. Physical thing such as clothing and hair color can only be used three times. Things that we both share such as having eyes or being able to hear are off limits since that would make the game go on forever. If you state one of those things you are out, if you repeat a question you are out. If you state something false about the other you are out." Echo explained. "And if you lie about something being true or false you are out."
"Seems simple, but how do I know you won't cheat. We are obviously different things and you know everything about me." King said unsure.
"You will not play me, you will play her." Echo pointed to the girl. "And if I am to tell her anything we lose. There will be a barrier so that I can not cross. So, is it a deal." Echo held out her hand.
King unsure, shakes Echo's hand. When he does this. he and the girl are transported into a green glass looking field.
"This is a Judgment field, if we lie while in this we loss. Also no dark being may enter this field. Shall we being?" The girl asked as King nodded "You are a boy." The girl said.
"You are a girl." King said.
"You are king of the fairies."
"You have died and come back to life."
"That's true, you are the bear sin of sloth."
"You wear old clothes."
"You make your own cloths." The girl slightly smiles.
"You miss Naya." The girl's smile disappeared.
"You miss your sister, Elain."
"You've lived for tens of centuries."
"You've lived for only a few centuries."
"Your eyes are green."
"You use a weapon to fight, and are physically weak."
"Hey!" King shouted.
"It is the truth, is it not?" The girl smirked slightly
"Fine, you don't like this game."
"You don't like this world."
"You use magic." King smirked, but so did the girl.
"So do you." With those words the Judgement field broke.
King's hands shook as he fell to the ground. The girl gave a sad smile, as Echo gave a smirk.
"I lost."
"Your in our world now, not yours. We know things, and we know this game."
"I'm sorry, but like you said I miss Naya too. And if I want to see her back and know my name, I must do whatever it takes for her." Her voice strong.
"Goodbye, Harlequin."
With those words from Echo, King's false body in the abyss disappeared. In the real world a ghost like shape of King watched in horror as his body started to stir without his control. When it's eyes opened it stared right at King's now transparent form, and smirked.
