Evelina Valentine, a pathological people pleaser, the mirrorball star student.

       Half of her beauty is her brain, she worked for success and she swears there's nothing more satisfying than academic validation.

       Amidst the weight of her parents' towering expectations, particularly in comparison to her accomplished elder sister, Evelina found herself driven to excel. Rather than resenting the pressure, she embraced it. Immersing herself in her studies became second nature, a path to fulfill familial hopes. Initially, she relished the solace of her own intellectual pursuits, finding solace in the sanctuary of books. The library became her haven, each volume a gateway to new worlds, and she eagerly consumed every word, as if under a spell.

     She studied as if her life depended on it, which it does, but she became fixated on nothing but her grades and was unable to deal with the idea that she was letting her parents down.

   Evelina Valentine is a failure.

  And her only competition besides her potential was;

    Remus Lupin, casanova of the Gryffindor tower, the popular boy genius.

     He was loyal, sarcastic, and brave but all he ever wanted to be was just smart, which he was, but it turned out, he wasn't enough.

    But this was him trying.  And his efforts eventually paid off, as he developed a rigid study regimen, particularly during test season. He rarely ate or slept, preferring to spend most of his time at the library, where a great deal of books were strewn all over the floor and table. Refusing to go till he was kicked out.

     He had to put in ten times as much effort as James and Sirius did since, despite their enjoyment and limited study time, they were still able to achieve high marks.  

     But he enjoyed Hogwarts, to get away from home.

    And he enjoyed reading books, to get away from reality.

      Being the two best students at Hogwarts, they had been rivals for as long as they could remember. As they competed for top grades in their classes and for coveted seats on academic teams, their rivalry got more fierce, driven by equal parts admiration and resentment. Both fought for the validations they so urgently needed.   

    Yet, beneath the surface of their heated exchanges and competitive banter, a deeper connection began to emerge, one forged in the crucible of shared ambition and mutual respect.
