How Tony Asks You Out (Preferences #2)

Two updates in one day?! What?! Betcha didn't see THAT coming!

It was torment. Pure, painful, unrelenting torture. It hurt so much, Tony almost wanted to cry. In fact, he wondered if this was maybe worse than when you were dead, or, at least when he thought you were.

He wanted to have you back so badly, yet he was forced to take it slow. It was like he had been running for the past five years and now that he was so close to the end, the finish line kept moving away from him. Like life was teasing him with you.

He had come to the store everyday for a whole month just to see you; and, honestly, however weird it was, you kind of liked it. You had no idea why this famous-superhero-multibillionaire-genius was paying you so much attention. Your co-workers had all noticed by this point and picked on you for it twenty-four seven.

"So, (Y/N), have you seen your boyfriend yet today?"

You blushed and tried your best to ignore them. Normally, you would have spat back some sassy remark, but something just felt wrong.

"She has now!" Your 'boyfriend' walked in the door, arms spread wide.

And there it was, that odd feeling. It felt like deja vu or nostalgia. But you had never even been in a relationship before and you had definitely never been friends with Tony Stark. It puzzled you to no end.

"Hello, Mr. Stark," you greeted with a friendly smile. You tried in vain to hide the blush in your face that just refused to go away. It didn't help that your coworkers were giggling a few feet from you.

"Hey." He said simply, while removing his signature sunglasses.

He stood at an awkward distance as you continued to stock the shelves. Soon, your friends got bored and left to go and actually do their jobs.

"So, how are y-"

He cut you off. "Before you say anything, do you have dinner plans tonight?"

You were caught off guard, to say the least. "Well, no..."

"You do now. What time do you get off?"

Had you heard him right? Tony Stark - the Tony Stark, a.k.a Iron Man - just asked you on a date?

You gave a short, incredulous laugh. "I, um... Five. My shift ends at five."

"I'll pick you up then."

You were speechless. When you turned to look at him, you saw that he was staring at you, waiting for an affirmative.

"Okay!" You said nervously, still not quite believing it was really happening.

Relief and joy came over his face. "Okay!" He laughed, ecstatic that you actually agreed.

He might actually get you back after all.
