How Steve Asks You Out (Preferences #2)
The three of you walked out of the theater on Saturday, and, again, you had that wonderful feeling from seeing a classic on the big screen.
You were between the two guys, who were having a 'friendly' debate over which movie was best.
"How can you possibly say that the Wizard of Oz is better?" Sam exclaimed, incredulous that Steve could still like the other movie more.
"I don't know, because it is?" Steve shot back. That sass though.
Sam clutched his chest, feigning hurt. "I can't believe you." He looked to you, as you were standing between he and Steve. "(Y/N), help me out here."
Steve looked down at you. "What do you think, (Y/N), Wizard of Oz or Meet Me in St. Louis?"
"Hmm... That's a hard one," you said, purposefully taking as long as you could to answer. "Judy's acting was phenomenal in both. I do love the songs in Meet Me in St. Louis..."
Sam made a face at Steve.
"But, at the same time, the whimsical, child like aspect of the Wizard of Oz is fantastic."
Steve raised his eyebrows in Sam's direction.
Oh my gosh, they're like a couple of teenagers. You thought to yourself, amused.
You paused, leaving the guys desperate.
Sam broke first. "Well?"
You smirked. "Both. I like both."
They both groaned.
"Seriously?"
"Come on!"
Steve insisted. "You have to pick one!"
"You won't hurt his feelings," added Sam confidently.
You rolled your eyes. "Seriously, guys. I can't decide. I'll think about it and let you know some other time."
"Wait, some other time?" asked Steve.
"As in, you want to do this again?" Sam helped him along.
You were caught kind of off guard. For a moment, you had felt like you had known these guys forever and you were just a couple of buddies out at the movies. It was kind of a shock back to reality, realizing that you really knew nothing about these people... well, other than their tastes in films.
You looked between the two of them, each of them giving you almost pleading looks. "Uhh, maybe. I really don't know you guys, you know."
"True," agreed Steve, though he was obviously dissapointed.
"Yeah," said Sam, "For all we know, he could be a serial killer!" He pulled you a few inches away from his friend. You all laughed.
"No, don't get me wrong. I'm not trying to say you guys seem dangerous." You studied their faces. What threw you off was that Steve looked so familiar, but you couldn't figure out why.
"I do come to this theater a lot. It's kind of dingy, but it's cheap and the refills are free. Maybe we can meet here again sometime?"
"Alright!"
You all joked around some more while walking out to the parking lot. Still, you felt like you had seen Steve somewhere before.
Soon, you couldn't take it any longer. "Steve, have we met before?"
Sam chuckled. "Yeah, on Tuesday," he said sarcastically.
You elbowed him. "No, I meant before then. You look so familiar."
You reached your vehicles and Steve stood a moment in thought. "Maybe... I guess we'll have to hang out more so you can figure it out." He smirked mischievously.
"Smooth." You sighed. "What time?"
He laughed, taken aback. Again, it seemed like he had been convinced you were going to decline. "Uh, next Saturday? One o'clock at Jacobi's?"
"The deli?" You clarified.
"Yeah." He was grinning from ear to ear. You had to admit, his smile was pretty charming.
"Okay. Sounds like a plan!"
Sam coughed and you noticed him and Steve exchanging glances "Er... I'm not a huge fan of Jacobi's. Really, the only thing I like from there is the seltzer. I think I'll pass on this one. You guys have fun, though."
"Oh, but who will be there to crack all the jokes?" You said, voice dripping with sarcasm.
"You already seem pretty well off in the humour department." He chuckled and shook your hand. "See ya, (Y/N)."
"See ya!" You said as he got into the car.
"Saturday. One o'clock." You said, once you and Steve were alone.
He nodded and smiled. "Don't be late."
"I'll save a seat for you."
