"It's time for a road trip!" One of the basketball players shouted.
Aron informed me that the basketball team had a game at another high school downtown. I had to go since I was the manager for the team apparently. But as long as I stayed with Aron, I am sure everything will work out. Soren is also suppose to be there, so maybe I can work a bit on my flirty skills to get him to trust us more. He doesn't seem very open to us, or anyone in that matter. Maybe after Aron and I can figure all this craziness out we can work on finding a way home, but right now it is important that we blend in to this Earth life. I don't need people imprisoning us for being alien.
"Can I read my book?" Soren asks when he walks up to the car. There were two other guys driving with the three of us. I didn't know their name, but their last names read Pisces and Cancer on their jackets, like Soren's read Sagittarius and Aron's read Aries.
"I guess you can." The guy whose jacket had Cancer on it says, he was also our driver. The kid had jet blond hair, it was almost white. He had some headphones in his ears, listening to heavy rock music which was so loud I could hear it over all the chattering Aron and the other boy were stirring up.
"Just don't get carsick," The Pisces guy warnes Soren.
"Ok cool," Soren hopes into the car, he sat in the middle while Aron and I sat on both sides of him. Cancer got in the front and Pisces rode shotgun.
"Hudson, crank up some jams." Pisces guy said. The driver, or Hudson, plugged his phone into a cord and music blasted throughout the car.
"How's that?" Hudson calls back to us.
"Loud and proud!" Pisces yells.
Surprisingly Soren doesn't say a word. He just kept reading his book, acting like a magnificent peacock walking upon fresh grass in the most beautiful rose garden in the world. Yep, not joking, I could sense the arrogant dripping off of him.
"Slug bug blue." Aron calls out and punched Pisces.
"No fair Aron," Pisces yells. "We haven't even started driving."
"Well then Ames," Aron teases, "you should have seen it first."
The Pisces kid, or Ames, rolles his eyes. "Whatever man."
This Ames looked an awful lot like Ames Zodiac... But this couldn't be the same person. Ames would of surely recognized me as one of his commanders, and why would Ames Zodiac be here on Earth anyways?
"Road trip, road trip, road trip!" Hudson cheers and put the car in drive and drove out of the parking lot. The song changed to a slow beat, then a fast beat. What was this strange music? Earth things were weird compared to Malison things.
"I love this song!" Aron exhausts his joy. He must of heard this song in the hallways to something. "Survivor is the best. Turn it up Hudson."
Hudson twists a nob on the car, the sound blasts louder.
"Rising up," Aron sang along. "Back on the street." I had never heard this song before but I liked it despite it's weirdness. It was very catchy. I made a mental note to learn the words later so I could sing along next time.
"Did my time, took my chances." Ames tapes to the beat against the door of the car.
Ames and Aron sang the next part together in harmony, they sounded beautiful. Wish I could sing like that, but I just sound like a dying pig. I swear, Aron was blessed with every talent imaginable.
"It's the eye of the tiger, it's the thrill of the fight!" Hudson joins them, he tapes the steering wheel to the beat. The three boys continued to sing.
"And he's watching us all with they eye," The boys point at Soren, who didn't notice the boys because he was shoulders deep in his book. So naturally, Soren missed the words to the song.
"Soren!" They all cry out.
"What?" Soren looks up.
"You missed the up best part." Hudson explains and presses buttons on the steering wheel to get a new song.
"I hate that song," Soren says. "Besides, you said I could read."
"You hate everything Soren," Ames says, he pulls out some bottles of soda. "I brought snacks for our short drive, since we will be sitting through traffic for a lot fo it."
"Pass those on back here," Aron demands.
Ames hands a soda can and some pretzels to Aron and me. Soren declines his snacks. I try to see what he was reading but the cover was on Aron's side of Soren. I would have to see what he was so interested in another time.
"Slug bug yellow!" Ames punches Hudson.
"Owe!" Hudson yelps. "You don't punch the driver. Basic rules of the car."
"Sure," Ames says. "I think you just don't want to get punched."
Hudson smiles. "You are right, I do not."
"That just makes me want to punch you more," Ames says.
"Rules of the road," Hudson glares sideways at Ames.
"Your rules are so pointless," Ames huffs. "Like rule number one: no cheese puffs in the car unless the driver can have half."
"That is a poison control. Anyone could of done anything to those cheese puffs, I am jsut making sure they are safe," Hudson explains.
"Or rule number twelve: no sitting or putting your feet on the car rule." Ames went on.
"This is a nice car and I only get it washed once a month," Hudson quickly defends himself.
"Number 3: driver picks the music, shotgun shuts his cake-hole?" Aron listed another.
"That is a tv show quote, and not one of my rules," Hudson huffs.
"Ok then," Ames laughs and turns the radio back on. Hudson immediately slaps his hand away and turns off the radio and back on his music. "My car, my music," Hudson snaps.
"I personally think the all phones off while driving rule is stupid," Ames says. "But you can have your phone on for music."
"There is a reason for that," Hudson says. "Your phones mess with my driving and the Internet location, so I wouldn't be able to drive or listen to my music."
"Sure buddy." Aron pats him on the shoulder. "Whatever keeps you sleeping at night."
"This is a serious issue!" Hudson exclaims. "This effects like 1 in ever 57 accidents ever, you guys should be grateful for my rules. They save lives."
Aron and Ames snicker. "I think you just don't want to be lonely while we are sucked into our devices like Soren is sucked into that book."
"Well nobody likes to talk to Soren anyways... so he has his own rules," Hudson informs.
I looked over at Soren and he wasn't looking so good, his golden skin had turned pale and kind of green in the cheeks. He was also blinking a lot, it was strange. I hadn't seen anyone do that before. I look at the other three guys and they looked normal. Why was Soren looking so sickly?
"So how was the date you had last week?" Hudson asks Ames. Ames swallows down the rest of his drink before he answers. "Totally a score," he says. "You know my girlfriend is perfect."
"Detail please," Aron complains.
"Hand holding, and I got a hug at the end," Ames fist bumps with Aron. He tried to do that with Hudson but Hudson refused to take his hands off the wheel.
"Dude, you got to relax," Aron sighs.
"I will relax when we are safely there, alive and in one piece." Hudson says as he turns into the school parking lot and parks in the bus parking area.
The other players had arrived and were unloading out of other cars. Hudson turns around in his seat and almost jumped out of it when he saw Soren. "Whoa, Soren, you ok man?" He asks. Soren looked worst then when I last saw him.
"I'm fine," Soren says. "I'm just reading."
"Are you sure you are ok?" Aron asks. He had a worried look on his face when he saw Soren too.
"Yes I'm fine," Soren snaps. He continued to read as we all stared at him. "Let just get to our-" He stops and looked up from his book. "I'm not fine." He held his breath for a second, but he couldn't help but throw up right away.. on me. All over me...
"Oh my." Hudson was wide eyed in surprise after that... little accident
"Gosh," Aron stares.
"Dang," Ames held his breath to avoid the smell.
I made eye contact with Soren. Shock filled his eyes and panic flowed through his face. The only sound in the car was my loud and heavy breathing. I felt like screaming. I was covered in his throw up! It was freaking disgusting!
"I am so sorry," Soren finally spoke to me. He quickly opened the door next to Aron and crawled over him, he ran out and into the school, leaving me covered in his puke.
"I can't believe he did that," Ames says. "Such a jerky move."
"He ruined my seats." Hudson says.
"Guys," Aron got their attention. "My sister."
"Oh!" Hudson cries out. He opened his armrest in the front and pulls out some baby wipes. "May be better if you get out of the car."
I open the door and step out onto the road, the guys in other cars pointed at me as I got out. Hudson and Aron did their best to help clean me up. Ames got out a spare T-shirt and basketball shorts he had in his pack for me to change into since my clothes were basically ruined. Aron and Ames then lead me into the school so I could change in the bathroom while Hudson stayed to clean out his car so it wouldn't smell on our way back.
"Where the heck did Soren even go?" Ames complains. "This is not how you treat any girl, let alone your sister."
"He is probably too embarrassed to even play tonight," Aron sighs. "Have some compassion."
I went into the girls bathroom while the guys waited outside for me. I change into Ames's Star Wars shirt and the schools basketball pants, which were both big on me. I clean my hair out in the sink and pull it into a braid. My shoes were still clean, surprisingly.
Soren was really starting to annoy me, this whole flirting thing I need to do with him is getting harder by the minute. I came out, the boys were still waiting for me. Hudson had shown up with a bag to put my dirty clothes in. He ran the bag out to the car while the rest of us headed to the game.
Aron and Ames take off their jackets and run out to the court for warm up. I stay in the bleachers with the rest of the students who came to watch. I gaze at the logo of the school on the court. Copper Cove High School, it looked very old school, so did the gym. The buzzer rang for the game to start. I look out onto the court, I saw Aron, Hudson and Ames, but Soren was nowhere to be found. Good for him, he needs to be sorry to throwing up all over me... he doesn't deserve to play in this stupid game. If he wasn't so anti-social, he wouldn't of been reading and he wouldn't of thrown up. It was his fault really for being the way he was. The ball was thrown into the air by a coach and Aron nocks the ball out of the air and passes it to Hudson. Hudson dribbles it down the court and passes to Ames who dunks it into the basket. At the end of the game I look at the score, our team had won, 32-35. This made our team undefeated this season according the the charts on the screen that displayed the scores. The crowd went wild from the students in our schools section. At least we won and my day didn't get any worst then it was already.
Soren wasn't in the car on the way back. It kind of made me a bit upset that he still hasn't apologized to me. I thought he was suppose to be a gentleman. The car smelt of faint vomit the whole ride home. The boys wouldn't shut up about their game too, I let them talk on even though I was getting a headache from their blabbering about sports.
"Undefeated!" Hudson yells as he speed down the highway. Not actually speeding, he would never do that, too stuck up to. He was probably going around seventy miles per an hour, which was about the normal speed limit on Malison. I felt like everything moved slower here. I stare out the window, it was very warm here. What were Aron and I going to do if there was ever a storm, or it got colder. We had no home, no change of clothes, nothing. If we don't find a way back to Malison, we will die. I pondered those questions over in my mind, making a mental note to talk about this to Aron later. Hudson dropped us off at the school. Aron and I pretended we were walking to a house while he drove away, then we crashed on the bleachers in the softball field.
"Aron," I look over at him. "We need to get home."
"I know Stella," He tells me.
"What are we going to do?" I ask.
"How about we go to bed for a while then in the morning we can talk about this," He sighs as he rolls over on the bleachers.
"I don't think this whole flirting plan is going to work. What if Soren doesn't even agree to help us? What if he doesn't come back to school?" I argue.
"Stella, it is going to be fine. Besides, did you take a look at Ames and Hudson?" He asks me.
"No..." I stare at him with confusion. "Was I suppose to?"
"They are Malison too," Aron states. "I think we have more ways then just Soren to get home Stella. But Ames and Hudson I don't think know a way, they act too much like the normal Earth people do... Soren is different. There is something about him."
I was going to argue with him more about this plan, but I was so tired I let him win that one. I roll over and laid on the bleachers, they were cold and uncomfortable. But I did fall into a deep sleep once I heard my brother's familiar snoring.
