Clink, Clunk, Bones.
Ray lifted her head as a rattling came from a dark corner of the cave. She squinted; she hadn't realized that Stingray was interested in keeping bones. Maybe her kin wasn't a total disappointment.
Ray stood up, knocking Mystic away. Mystic stood up and regarded Ray coldly as the latter made her way over to the bones. How were they standing up?? It was literally just bones.
Ray frowned as she paced around the skeleton, jumping back and snarling when it jerked its head around to look at her. Ray squinted, and the skeleton squinted back.
"Skeleton?" Ray asked slowly, folding her wings back. The skeleton, named Skeleton, nodded.
"Yes, Ray. I'm dead. But I can be alive." Somehow Skeleton spoke, despite not having vocal cords. Fallout stared with horror, while Mystic watched with cold entertainment. The other dragonets were cowering in the corner, while Stingray and Jasper watched with wide eyes.
Ray blinked. "You mean.. you evaded death?"
"Don't sound so surprised. You did as well." Skeleton's voice was cold and curt, but with an undercurrent of fire. Ray blinked. She wasn't used to her victims not cowering before her. But of course, Skeleton had never been one to cower. That's what she liked about-
Ray gagged, earning herself a strange look from everyone. She had almost admitted she had a positive relationship with someone! Ugh!
Skeleton cleared his throat awkwardly. "Well, um, now that I'm here, shall we leave?"
"What makes you think that just because you're here I want to leave?!" Ray demanded, earning herself a flinch from Fallout. Mystic rolled her eyes at her sister, muttering,
"Fraidy cat," Under her breath, making Ray smirk. Skeleton shook himself out, making a clink and a clunk. Ray shrugged and stepped back, laying down. Skeleton scooted away, then was covered in smoke. Out came a fully fleshed dragon, it was a NightWing, and an albino, too. Skeleton lied down away from everyone, taking his skull out of his bag. When I say 'his skull', I mean his dead mothers' skull. He wears it.
Skeleton put the skull on, then lied his head down. He was reunited with an old partner, and as he thought, he didn't think it was a good sign that he was this happy and flustered. Ray would never figure it out, because he was a cold, emotionless shell on the outside. Skeleton smirked, then yawned. The black walls of sleep raised to claim him.
