"I apologize for my brother's selfish acts; he can be-"
"Blind," Cassidy bluntly finished Elijah's sentence.
"How so?"
"He doesn't see other people's feelings or emotion, he just acts," she shrugged, looking up at Elijah for only the third time.
"I suppose so. Carrying on, how about you stay here as a peace offering?" he proposed, waiting for her to answer.
Cassidy thought about it for a moment; she didn't know if it would be safe or dangerous considering she'd threatened Klaus many times, explaining her hatred. She looked at her nails, then up at Elijah, "I don't think that's such a good idea." She still wasn't quite sure on how she felt about Elijah, either.
"It's not," Klaus told her the same time Elijah said, "I insist."
She smirked at Elijah, knowing if she said yes that this would be torture for Klaus enough, hopefully. She was wrong in a way. "Oh, well, if you insist," she looked over Klaus, smirking, "maybe it wouldn't be such a bad idea."
"Good," Elijah clapped his hands together, "I'll show you to your room, then." He put out his hand and she took it graciously.
After Cassidy was settled in her room with the little clothing she'd brought to New Orleans, Klaus sauntered in with his smirk, which Cassidy thought was extremely irksome.
"Klaus, what do you want?" she questioned, glaring at him from the spot on her bed.
He stepped into the room and pulled the chair from the desk, sitting on it and studying her for a moment. "If you could, would you kill me?"
She looked up from her book and steadied her glasses, responding, "I wouldn't hesitate even for a second." She looked back down at the worn out book, seeing water damage and bends, yet it still held perfection.
He cleared his throat and moved positions before asking another question, "Do you only need those for reading? You weren't wearing them earlier."
"No, Klaus, they are for distance more than," she put her hand out, "this far away."
"Why weren't you wearing them earlier?" He was curious of the beautiful girl in front of him, so much so that he seemed to be a toddler asking simple things.
"Contacts. Why do you ask so many questions?"
"I'm just curious," he smirked again, but she wasn't looking up from the book."What are you reading?"
"'Me Before You,'" she replied quickly and turned a page.
"What's it about?" She looked up at him with her eyebrows tight and eyes narrowed.
"Why don't you read it and find out?" she asked, throwing the book at his face. He caught it with ease, and smirked, hopping up from the chair.
"You know, I just might," he wiggled the book in the air and left the room. Cassidy groaned and lay back onto her bed; she couldn't believe she had to live with this menace for a long while coming just to get the satisfaction of torturing him.
